It involves higher capital though, but the cash out for their Farm-out is high more like they manage the farm for you, you bear the cost of cultivation and they manage the farm; you share profit at 70:30.

The Farm-in is more of buying land from their farm estate to practice agriculture.

yes. It was successful where It was used and I was privy to know it from beginning to end. But it was in lowlands and not upland. I couldn't continue with the experimentation due to financial constraints. But I'm glad I spurred someone to action and he is smiling to the bank now due to increase in prices of rice.

Sad that you ran into such problems. Does it make a difference if it's upland or lowland rice?

Also, how large was your part covered by nets and what was the cost of covering such a space.

I just recently started rice farming. Irrigation rice farming since we are in dry season. Looking at this thread,i cant help but laugh. Most of the things i read here is far from the truth especially concerning capital needed to start. I am at the nursey stage of rice farming waiting to transplant. My oldest nursery is about 10days old. Anyway, if considering rice farming, unless you have alot of money; go manual rather than mechanical. And be involved in ALL the process. From clearing the farm land to planting and fertilizers. Why i say some of the information isnt correct is that, when you are doing irrigation farming expect to spend more money than someone who would depend on rain water but the benefit is that you get to plant year round. In my case i dug a bore hole and installed irrigation channels. RIce farming is labour intensive. I am starting small as an experiment on about 5-6 plots of land excluding nursery. Would keep you guys updated as i go on. i actually came here looking for the best techniques of bird repellant. i might go for a combination method.

I personally haven't tried them, but I've been following them since they started over a year ago and haven't seen anyone crying foul.
They also have great presence offline as they have received awards for their involvement in tech and agriculture.
The only problem might be that their ROI isn't enough for some people who are looking for more profit

Have you tried it and found it successful? Can't they just ignore the poisonous plants and move deeper into your farm?

So I started this plantain farm last year after my NYSC. it was a hard decision for me to take to invest in farming with little experience in the field.

To all the job seekers out dia, pls invest in farming most especially plantain farming and see how ur life will look like in 9month.

These are fish pond nets. I bought for N6000 each but I understand its sold for N3500 each.

What I intend to do with it? Im not covering the entire rice field, but the idea is to use to make 'volleyball net-like'' situations across the rice field. The idea is that since the birds will usually dive into the field to feed on the rice, they will will several bump into the nets placed above the rice fields in haphazard manners(irregular spaced).

This I presume will cause them more troubles, stress and bodily harms. If a bird scaring strategy does not cause harm or terrify this birds greatly, they will habituate the system and still feed on the rice field.

However, this strategy will be used together with other strategies.. The total net covering will be the best, but my maths points that its initial cost is way beyond what I can 'stake on a new game/new horse'

But what are the dimensions of the net you bought? Like the length and breadth or its area
