Business / Wholesale Domain Traders Gather Here by fergusen: 3:54pm On Jan 18
Looked through nairaland and there's no thread for wholesale domainers to showcase their domains. So I created this thread.

There is a fairly large number of Naija domainers here, so I thought it good to create this thread where you can post domains you are selling at wholesale prices. There might be a need to do wholesale in other to free up cash, keep the domain grind ongoing, or for some other reasons.

I believe this thread would serve that purpose.

Because this is a virtual platform, you can't rule out scams, so it's best to use established domain marketplaces like squadhelp, Dan, and Daaz for your wholesale deals.

I believe this would be beneficial to both Naija & foreign domainers.

So, a for sale post would look like:

Tinubu//com for sale. (use the '//' sign to mask the domain from being indexed).
Price: $150
push/Auth code available
Payment: Dan/squadhelp/GoDaddy, etc (whatever platform you decide to use).
After the transaction, you can then edit your post to remove the domain.

hello, i have been reading this thread for a month now and i want to register my first domain name.

My questions are as follows.
*as a first timer, which registrar offers the cheapest for a first timer and at the same time i would be able to tranfer the name to Dan immediately after registration?

I have interest in brandables, i found some great brandable names, mostly five lettered words too, as a first timer is it advisable to start with brandable or geo?

Don't!

Pls how can I avoid it?
You can't. Except you try another payment method (it available)?
But as long as it's Payoneer, you will have to pay.

I was trying to retrieve password when I logged into my mail and saw that I had won a naming contest on brand new name. So while trying to connect Payoneer to my account, I saw this notification.

Does it mean that I'll be charged the annual account fee because I haven't received up to 100 USD on the account?
Yes. According to the info in your screenshot.

Please any idea if a name listed on wholesale can still be purchased at the normal listed price by an end-user, like is the wholesale marketplace only available to us sellers or both buyers and sellers.
The wholesale marketplace is only available to sellers. End users don't see wholesale prices. And your names listed in the wholesale marketplace can still be purchased at the normal end user price by endusers.

All unregistered. Summited 10 for free and coins for the remaining 16.

I will register when approved.
That's a nice strategy.

Seller registered or SH registered?
I see 26 pending review, that must be seller registered?

Boss, thank so much for sharing your indepth knowledge/ experience with us. I have a question, I picked the domain beta//visor//king, based on info I gathered reading your tips on brandable a couple of year back. Do you think it's still worth holding to. Does beta//visor//king tick all the box from your experience?
Kindly give an insight on this. Thanks in advance
While the question isn't directed at me, let me just offer another perspective:
Beta:
You must have heard about 'beta test/beta testing'. You might have also come across the term 'Beta version'. Notice the combination of words in the examples I cited, and the meaning it tries to communicate.

Now look at 'Beta//Visor'. What is it trying to communicate? Obviously, Beta is a strong keyword here. But what comes next after the Beta is also equally important.
If Visor is from the root word "Adviser/Advisor", and Beta is thought to mean "A trial version of something", your domain targets a very narrow niche/sector, that might not be profitable enough to warrant a rush of businesses in that sector, which should have created a demand/need for your domain.
In summary, the Combination (Beta//Visor) is weak, but it's brandable.
In 2023, try to pick domains with broad appeal and domains in hot niches/sectors.

Drops pen... cool

Thanks bro. At first I divided my portfolio of about 30 names into 2 parts. I was putting the names on the wholesale market in batches and reducing the price by $5 every 3days from $30 until it gets to $10. After that, I remove them and put another batch.

After completing the process, I would remove all names from wholesale market for about 3 months before repeating the process.

The best names would usually sell before you get to $10, sometimes at $25.

It was while I was doing this, that someone messaged me on one of those names and asked if I had other similar names, that he was ready to buy in bulk. We agreed on a Wholesale price for the remaining 23 names, and he bought all.

The process was manual. We agreed on a time to do it and we were both online communicating via Squadhelp inbox. I put all names on wholesale market at $50 each(Max WS price for SH owned, since that's what they were). I would then reduce the price to the agreed price one name at a time from $50 to the agreed price, while he buys instantly from his end. So, escrow was still Squadhelp.
Thanks for this detailed explanation.

My little domain earnings came from Brand_new_name and Squadhelp wholesales as I eventually liquidated my Squadhelp portfolio when a bulk buyer came along.

I was able to make $1050 on Brand_new_name

I came across the platform here on Nairaland while trying to learn domaining without starting capital.

Two of those I shared the info with by word of mouth also won on Brand_new_name

Many thanks to the OPs that shared the info
Congratulations. If you don't mind, can you pls shed more light on the liquidation process? How did you find a buyer? what escrow did you use for the transaction? How did you determine the wholesale value of your domains? etc.

Oga Dem pls, does this above average means a higher chance of getting approved, and is there any other way to submit more unregistered domains with points cos I get about 1k points rather than submitting only three
It has zero impact on the review.

If you want to submit more unregistered domain which you will be the one to register, you need coins.

Squadhelp has limit for unregistered submission which they are to register for you. You just have to wait for space to 'open' again.

As per points, I get 900k+ grin

Lol. How do you managed to compare Tony and Judgemind? Tony is an SEO guy that has developed and sold websites in five to six figures($) over the past decades while Judgemind is just a guy that started domaining in 2008 by buying Handreg try to flip on NP for ×3 to ×5 and invest the funds into domaining.

Till now most of Judgemind domains are Handreg and drops while Tony buy on Auction for four to five figures, how did you put the two in the same sentence?

Judgemind just have around 1100 names on SH and about 3000 overall portfolio - majorly Handregs and drops. Tony have thousands - majorly Auctions. Tony hardly do handregs except for trends.

You can follow judgemind thread on NP to know more about his history - https://www.namepros.com/threads/squadhelp-marketplace.1120686/page-132#post-8933849

Back to your conclusion, if you really want to compare SH performance with an external entity like Tony, you should use Sten not Judgemind. Sten shared below screenshot today. 5 sales this month, 75 this year, can Tony match that? Sten have more than 80% of his names on SH (owns around 10%) of the marketplace.

Conclusively, I'm not justifying SH to be doing good as I also have hundreds of premium domains on the marketplace and I know what my STR looks like but don't put Tony and Judgemind in the same sentence.

Do you use Local Bank Account or IBAN?

What do you use as postal code?
I think I remember, I copied the location/address of the account provided by grey, then did a Google search of the postal code of that particular address. That's what I used.

I just entered all the details of the GBP account provided by Grey to Squadhelp wise page. I can't remember the exact details now.
Squadhelp converts it to £ and send to GBP grey account.
Sometimes, within 1hr, the payout lands in Grey.

I suggested an unregistered name on SH but the name has not been approved or rejected. It's almost 2 months now, is this a positive sign?
Let me give you a suggestion for unregistered submission.
When you have names pending for such a long time (2 weeks max), delete and resubmit. If nothing happens after a while again, just delist and submit another name.
Lately, for Squadhelp registered domains, the top quality ones (which the Ai & all their reviewers upvote) are what is being approved (you'll see something like "Auto-approved" ) . While the ones that are pending for long time needs manual approval (These are usually average names).
I have names pending since April. What I did was to simply remove them and submit another set. 3 have been approved within a week so far.
The ones I delisted will still be submitted at another time.
1 week is usually the max I wait before replacing a "pending review" domain now.

Where did you register your domain? Go to your registrar, where you bought/registered the domain, you will get the EPP/authorization code there.
Remember to unlock the domain.

One thing we all should know is that there isn't any secret any magic to domaining ....there is nothing IcauseTrouble and other gurus will teach one that hasn't been thought freely on this thread, namepros, twitter etc
Partly true. But bro secrets dey. Plenty sef.
embarassed
1. Secrets about type of domains that sell.

Why do you think some whales hide their domain portfolio? One time I was looking at Squadhelp marketplace insight (sales report) and I noticed like 4 identical brandable sales relating to the word 'connect'. In fact, I played a role in the next one being sold thereafter. That's just one pattern. Someone with an info like this or a better one will use this to their advantage.

There's a domainer that has had multiple sales with the keyword "Zen". So they acquire lots of quality domains along that line.

Not every brandable domains accepted in the marketplace will sell, and it's possible after a few years of active domaining to spot 'nonsense'. That's a secret. It would take some others years to reach that level.
2. Secrets about pricing.
3. Etc.
Domaining is something that u have to find Ur own angle already the basics, principles and everything are already laid down.
True
Just like football. There are many tactics and many methods...any one can learn the basic principles of football but no one can make u to become a master.

In domaining, with the right guidance ehn, someone can help you reach the top quickly o.
I don't think there isn't any ardent follower of thread for the past one year that can say he doesn't know the principles of domaining.
There's no any secret formula.....first u have to get good names(several sources), u have to keep renewing, u have to wait(maybe several years), u have to be on the buy, you have to have a robust portfolio, u have to have a large portfolio, u have to price well.
Good points bro, but I have come to realize that many sure formula dey, they might not be secret, but not everyone knows it works. Some are even using a 'formula' without them knowing.
Many ppl in these thread know all the basics & skills ...but they underestimate their name picking abilities because they don't have the required funds to scale and for renewals and to keep a robust portfolio especially when u have to use the proceeds of domaining for other personal bills.
💯
But yet come saying icausetrouble & other gurus should teach them .....will u say icausetrouble should come n teach u hw to nack Ur wife or gf....this is synonymous to domaining.

If someone out of the blue like that isn't in this thread ask to be thought domaining I'd understand but someone in this thread with all the infos....what do u want to be thought again that hasn't been given has a free resource flying everywhere.

For Geo domaining, there's surplus information in this thread. But for brandable and other types, a lot of information is lacking here.
As for me I think the biggest problem in domaining self is over proliferation of infos....too many infos and strategies u can't process...so u end up trying to do everything instead of coming up with a simple unique angle....
That's why sometimes, you need someone to hold your hand and say, "na the road wey I follow be this, you too follow am and you go arrive".
But if u do suck all of the infos and patient enough after trying myriads of process u would eventually get it right after some years...
💯
Everyone has there curve ..some ppl may just build up on a little idea and keep it simple like just aiming to reg two-words .coms from drops at reg fee over a year repeating same process and avoiding any other thing else like auctions, trends, backorders, outbound, cctlds...focusing on just that...and may end up becoming successful in just 5 to 6 months then building on that to scale and avoid all the noise.
💯
Another person may decide to try all other things for several years and failing before settling for one method that works and scale from that....u can see everyone's journey & experiences can't be the same in domaining...
💯
