CHAPTER SIX

What do you intend to do now?! Gbadebo asked Paul
Hmmmm, I wanted to treat the matter like a gentleman but since they want to make a fool of me, I’ll make them pay’ Paul concluded
That Johnson needs to disappear, use whatever means possible but do not kill him. I don’t want any blood on my hands’ Paul instructed Gbadebo
Can’t you just leave the girl, I don’t understand this obsession over her’ Gbadebo suggested
You won’t understand she is the only girl that makes me feel something and everything has been fine until that bastard came along. I can’t let her go, no matter what she does’ Paul said
I can just kill him you know, with no trace back to any of us’ Gbadebo suggested again
No, I will be the first suspect if he dies but if we can threaten him to disappear, I’ll have her all to myself’ Paul said with certainty
Okay boss’ Gbadebo answered
Gbadebo and Paul have been friends since university days, Gbadebo a cultist has protected his friend on several occasions against other cultists while Paul on his part helps Gbadebo financially. Anytime Paul has any issue with anyone on campus, Gbadebo is the hit man he calls, and Gbadebo never disappoints as his reputation precedes him, he is a short bulky guy with muscles showing his dedication to the gym and he is known to be brutal.

I don’t understand? Kehinde looked at her sister in disbelief
I am serious and I have already said yes, so you cannot talk me out of it’ Taiwo sounded excited
But what about Paul? Kehinde asked
Yes? What about him? Taiwo sounded displeased
You already know I don’t love him, my relationship with him was all as a result of the pressure our parents put on me, the love was never there’ Taiwo said
Love?! Kehinde laughed scornfully
Do you think marriage is all about love? What will stop him from leaving you the instance he gets tired of you? Or what will stop him from breaking your heart again? Have you even thought of the implication of what you did? Our parents? What will become of your engagement with Paul? Kehinde looked at Taiwo disappointedly
Taiwo did not expect the kind of attitude she was receiving from Kehinde, she thought Kehinde will be understanding atleast of all people. She was disappointed as stood up and bid her twin sister goodbye.
She got into her car and started driving home, she stopped halfway and started reliving every moment that led to her present predicament. She know as long as Paul is still interested, her parents will never consent to her marrying Johnson, the only option she has is to beg Paul to call off her engagement. But how will she approach the matter? Will he understand she never loved him?
There’s only one way to find out’ she told herself as she turned the car around and started driving towards Paul’s house.

In a matter of time, she was already at Paul’s gate. She didn’t bother to call as she already knows he will be around. It is Sunday evening and he practically has nowhere to go
Does he really have any friend? She asked herself. She has asked him on several occasions about any of his friends but he always tells her they are not around. She entered the house and met him in the living room.
If you came to apologize, just know the time of apology has passed’ Paul said scornfully
Taiwo sighed as she helped herself to a seat, she knew what she was about to ask will add to the problem on ground but that is the only option she has, she cannot elope as Johnson suggested. All her life has been in Lagos starting from the most important thing to even the irrelevant ones, her job, her family, her favorite spa and so on. She cannot just leave everything and go. She needs to try at least
I didn’t come to apologize but I am here to ask you for a favor’ Taiwo said in a calm voice
A favor?! Paul asked rhetorically. After the nightmare you made me witness, you didn’t even bother to apologize or even call, and here you are to ask me for a favor. Who do you think I am exactly? Paul asked angrily
I know I should have called or at least text, but I didn’t see any need to. Truth is Paul, I don’t have any guilt sleeping with Johnson
Well you should! Paul cuts in.
Exactly, I know I should but I am not and that says a lot. Paul I don’t want to hurt you, I was planning to come and tell you, it all happened so fast but the truth is I love Johnson and I wish we can end this relationship between us. I like you but I love Johnson, if you have ever loved someone you’d understand how I feel.
So you are breaking up with me?! Is that it? After all these times of putting up with you, you want to leave all of a sudden? Does that sound right? Ask yourself that? Let me make something clear to you, you are not going anywhere! I am going to marry you whether you like it or not Taiwo. I am not a child and you can’t come and be playing games with me’ Paul said
But……’ Taiwo started
No buts’ Paul cuts in. The only reason I haven’t told my parents is the out of the respect I have for your family, don’t take me for a fool. Our marriage is happening, you better let that sink in! Paul concluded as he made his way upstairs

Taiwo was in a delimma, it is either she gives up on her love or she elopes and leave everything and everyone!

CHAPTER FIVE
You are 26 years old for God sake and have never been in bed with a man’ she said to herself as she read again the message she composed for the 10th time. Johnson has called her earlier to fix a date and he also mentioned he has something important to tell her. She suspected he wanted to talk about his son and his ex-wife, he promised her the story since his ex-wife is still part of his life as he is sharing custody of his son, Junior with her. Throughout work she has been contemplating on whether to invite Johnson over for dinner and hope it gets romantic afterwards or they should just go to a fancy restaurant for their date. She doesn't want to rush things but she feels it's time and there's nobody in this world she would want to make love to than Johnson.
The last time she almost lost her virginity was in the university when she was dating Johnson, after several persuasions and making outs with Johnson she eventually succumbed, she went over to his place to surprise him only to see him on another lady. She was devastated and heartbroken. But now she feels she is ready, Johnson seems different she told herself. She wants to believe he is a better person. It is a risk she's willing to take as she pressed the send button.
She left work earlier than normal as she took permission from her boss, Mr Pius didn't bother to ask why she was leaving work early because he suspected it must be something urgent, Taiwo is one of his best staff if not the best. She is very dedicated to her work. Before stopping to pick Tolu, Taiwo branched to the market to buy chicken and some ingredients. Taiwo hardly cooks as she always stop by her sister's house for dinner, she eats her breakfast and lunch at her favorite restaurant that is just opposite her office. After shopping, she picked up Tolu and dropped her by the gate, Tolu was taken inside by the gateman and kehinde wondered why Taiwo didn't enter to even greet her, she hoped Paul hasn't done anything stupid. Taiwo hurriedly drive home to start preparing her favorite dish- fried rice, salad and chicken.
At exactly 7pm, she heard the bell ring as she rushed towards the door and there he was looking dandy as ever, dressed in a Long sleeve vintage shirt tucked in a black suit pant with a loafers.
Hello beautiful' he greeted as he made his way inside giving her the flower and a bottle of red wine he brought as he pecked her lightly on the cheek.
Hey handsome' she answered smiling. They made their way towards the dining room where the food was already set.
Forgive me for not saying this the instant I saw you, but I was short of words to use. You are looking ravishing' Johnson said looking at her seductively
Thank you' she answered blushing, she made a lot of effort to look nice but simple. A velvet high neck mini gown seemed ideal for the evening on a black wedge heels.
They ate quietly before moving the party to the living room where they sat down slowly sipping the remaining glass of wine.
The meal is one of the best I have ever had' Johnson broke the silence
Thanks for the meal' he added
Well, now you know I am complete wife material' she laughed
Do me a favor, stand up and close your eyes' Johnson asked
She was surprised and wonder what he was upto, but she obeyed and closed her eyes
You can open them now' he told her
She opened her eyes to see to Johnson on his knees with a ring on his hands, she was shocked! She was not expecting that!!
I know I have hurt you in the past, I don't think I even deserve the second chance you gave me, I want to make it right, I love you and I want to marry you. Will you marry me? Johnson asked?
Of course I will marry you' she answered without even thinking. She lifted him up and planted her lips on his, the kiss lasted for a while before Johnson lifted her up and made his way to her bedroom.

Meanwhile Paul has been following Johnson all day to confront him to back off from Taiwo. As Johnson entered his car all dressed up, Paul suspected he is going to visit someone and he hoped it was another woman, that way he is going to prove to Taiwo that Johnson is just playing around with her. He was surprised when he saw Johnson pulling over at Taiwo's apartment, he was filled with rage and jealousy. He angrily drove off to his place but only stopped halfway when he decided to go back and confront Taiwo, he has had enough of her bullshit. He opened the door with the spare key Taiwo gave him when they started dating, he didn't see anyone in the living room so he decided to check the bedroom only to see Johnson on top of Taiwo naked!

CHAPTER FOUR

After waiting for several hours expecting Taiwo to show up, Paul decided to call her twin sister, Kehinde. She has always been supportive of him and in several times picked his side when he has a quarrel with Taiwo. When she picked, he was greeted by a baby’s cry and she sounded sleepy, he decided to postpone the matter till the next day and bid her goodnight after fixing a meeting with her.

Taiwo woke up feeling excited and energetic the next morning, it was a feeling she has missed in a while. As she goes into the bathroom humming her favorite jam Smile for Me by Simi, she started fantasizing how her future will be like with Johnson, she had made up her mind to forgive and forget what he did to her in the past.
I can't keep living in the past' she convinced herself
She remembered how they first met and smiled

It was her first time in school, just like any other fresher she was happy to be free from her parent's watchful eyes, she wanted to be free and have adventures. She met Johnson at a picnic organised by the student's association to welcome freshers. From the first time she set her eyes on him, she fell for him but she pretended otherwise and formed hard to get when he approached her. He constantly chased her after that day until she finally gave him her phone number and that was how the relationship started, everybody was envious of them, they were the couple people wish to be until he cheated on her. She cried her eyes out, she was hurt but she is all over that now.
Johnson has apologized times without number, he swore to be a better man. She believes him, of course she would, she is entrapped by his charms.
Still in her good mood, she quickly dressed up as she remembered she is to stop bybPaul’s house, the thought of Paul quickly brought a frown to her face.
He knows am not really into him and will understand when I end the relationship’ she said to herself
In a matter of minutes she was outside Paul’s house, the house seemed empty except the house boy that was busing washing the cars at the garage, even the dogs were quietly sleeping in their kennel.
Is Paul around? She asked Samson
No, Oga commot early early for this morning’ Samson answered in Pidgin English.
Taiwo smiled and gave Samson some money to keep, she likes Samson because of his dutifulness and his zeal to speak good English. Samson a village boy that doesn’t even understand the word ‘come’ when he first came to Lagos has improved drastically over the two years he has spent in Lagos.
Ah! Thank you ma’ Samson said happily and he further added as a sign of gratitude ‘E be like say Oga dey vex this morning, He no even chop anything commot’
Thank you and do have a nice day’ Taiwo said as she walked towards her car. She started wondering where he could have possibly gone to, she knew obviously she was the reason he was angry. Throughout the road to her office, she kept wondering what excuse to give, she felt guilty at a point but consoled herself and convinced herself she’s only human.
The heart wants what it wants’ she said convincingly

Johnson?! That guy that broke her heart?! Paul said in disbelief
Calm down, I shouldn’t even be telling you this’ Kehinde tried to calm him down
Paul got even angrier when he learnt of the possible reason why Taiwo decided to postpone their marriage, because of an old cheating boyfriend. Kehinde on her part thought she was doing Taiwo a favor as she stood to her ground that Johnson will only use her and dump her again. She tried to calm Paul down and stopped him from going out of the house in his current state of mind
I won’t allow you to drive back home in this anger, only God knows what might happen’ she said
After a while, Paul seemed calm but deep down, he has already made up his mind. He cannot break up with Taiwo.
Paul has been left by several girls and he is used to the feeling already, he has infact given up on marriage and was focused on increasing his wealth when his parents told him about Taiwo, she was nice to him when they first met. After their first meeting, he made up his mind to make the relationship work no matter what, he tried to soften his personality, once in a while he tries to joke with her and she laughs at his attempt, although he felt insulted but the joy he was able to make her laugh comforted him.
No! He has come too far to give up just now, he will go and threaten Johnson to back off. Having made up his mind, he calmly told Kehinde he will be going back home.

CHAPTER THREE

Why?! Without even consulting me?! Paul shouted aloud even though he was alone. He just received a text from Taiwo telling him she has postponed the wedding without any good reason. Paul always like to be in control of things and since he started seeing Taiwo, things have been different.
Paul Adebayo, a highly principled man and does not give room for nonsense, he always behave older than his age and has no sense of humor at all. That made him less attractive to females even though he is rich, been in a relationship with Taiwo was all as a result of the good relationship between his parents and Taiwo's.
Standing up from his bed, he made his way to his closet and quickly selected a polo shirt and a chinos, he needs to meet with her as soon as possible, he feels insulted. Since they started dating, she has been taking him for granted, he tried to be understanding but right now, she has crossed the line’ he told himself.
Driving very fast Paul was inside Taiwo’s apartment in no time
What are you doing here?! Tawo asked surprised as she tries to cover herself with the wrapper she was loosely wearing
I came to see you’ Paul said as he seductively looked at her. Since they started dating, he has been trying to bed her but she always come up with excuses, he stopped trying and assurres himself when they get married he will have her all to himself. She ushered him inside as went into her bedroom to change and dress up.
Are you going somewhere? Paul asked as she came out looking all dressed up
Yes’ I am hanging out with my friends. I thought I made mention of that in the message I sent’ she added
Look Paul’ I just need time to gather my thoughts, that’s all. You don’t have to worry yourself about anything’ Taiwo said with a smile
But you should have at least asked me before telling our parents. Taking that kind of decision without consulting me is selfish’ Paul argued
Look babe, I am already late. I will come over to your place when I am coming back and we will talk about it’ she concluded and kissed him before leaving him as she moves towards her car.

Thought you won’t come again’ Johnson said with a smiled as he walks towards Taiwo. Looking as simple as he can be, wearing a white shirt and denim jacket over a distressed black jeans with a blue high top sneakers. Taiwo smiled as she saw Johnson, he has a good sense of fashion, one of the things she likes about him. Apart from the little time she spent talking to Paul, she has spent the whole morning trying to pick the right outfit for their first date. Since exchanging contacts, they have been chatting and calling frequently until he eventually asked her on a date which she gladly agreed to. Taiwo dressed in a light blue long sleeve floral shirt over a black pencil skirt and a blue sneaker was looking casual after considering a gown and heels will look too official.
I had a little trouble deciding what to wear’ she honestly answered jokingly
And who told you to wear a blue sneakers’ she added laughingly
Lucky me, we look like a couple already’ Johnson responded jokingly
The date went as planned and Taiwo had a great time, something she has been missing for a long while. On her way back, Taiwo was gushing all over, she totally forgot about Paul until when she was already in her apartment, she decided to text him an apology and probably stop over at his place on her way to work, that way she won’t even have to stay long. After taking a cold bathe and laying her bed to sleep, she received a message from Johnson saying how much fun he had and will love to see her more often, she replied him and that was how they started chatting till late in the night.

CHAPTER TWO

Ehen?! Are you for real? Shouted kehinde. She has always
been the dramatic one of the twins, she is good at hyping
things and can read between the lines. Taiwo till today still
wonders how she got married before her because kehinde is
the type that does not believe in love growing up.
Yes, am serious’ Taiwo replied, since meeting Johnson the
previous week, her mood has lightened a bit. And it took
Kehinde a lot of pressuring and teasing before Taiwo finally
opened up, that was before she made her swear not
to tell anyone, not even her husband. Taiwo doesn’t want her
fiancée to hear anything about it, and she knows how much
of a tell tale Kehinde is, Paul can be so insecure’ she
regularly complains to her twin sister.
So, what do you think is going to happen now? Kehinde ask
I swear if I tell you I have an idea, am lying’ Taiwo said
confused. She’s really hoping for something between her
and Johnson but there is Paul. Paul was the guy she finally
agreed to settle down with even though she never really
liked him after her parents have pestered the life out of her.
The last time she met with her parents was during Kehinde’s
second naming ceremony, and they did not part on good
terms, she really wanted to be left alone but her parents will
hear nothing of such. They started fixing dates for her with
different guys and she got tired and later succumbed to her
parents’ wish by agreeing to settle down with Paul.
You sha know that Paul will be deeply hurt if you leave him’
Kehinde reminded her, and if you ask me, he is a nice guy
and will make a good husband unlike Johnson who is a
celeb, only God knows the number of girls that are wishing to
be in bed with him and how many girls he has been in bed
with. All those Yoruba demons, you can’t trust them’ she
added scornfully
Taiwo looked at Kehinde and wondered why she even told
her in the first place, Kehinde is very good at pointing out the
negative part of anything. Taiwo there and then made up her
mind to continue seeing Johnson, she will keep Paul at bay
and postpone her wedding which is to take place in the next
4 months, just in case Johnson happens to be the player
Kehinde painted him to be. She hoped otherwise though.

I was enjoying the serenity in my life before you came along
Walking pass me on the road with your friends
I am not the type to walk up to a stranger
But it felt like I have known you all my life
Love gave me the courage to approach you
You gave me the opportunity to love you
Life was good, until
Alas!

You left me for a 'made-man'
You left without a word
Facebook was the bearer of the sad news
How I felt when I saw your wedding photos flying around the social media
Is this the love you promised me?
I called you the mother of my children
Oh! My heart! This was all a fallacy
I have been living in a fool's Paradise

I etched your name in my heart and on my body
What do I tell my mother who I have so proudly told I have found a wife
And I was warned by my friends
But I didn't see the signs
I was blinded by love
In this pain I will make a vow
Never ever to open my heart to anyone
Life's cruel
Ladies beware
For a Yoruba demon has just been awoken!

CHAPTER ONE
Hurry up’ Taiwo shouted at her niece, Tolu while standing in front her newly bought Mercedes benz e350. Since she moved closer to her twin sister’s neighborhood, Taiwo has been given the responsibility of chauffeuring the little girl to and fro the school since her sister is still nursing her new born baby boy and the husband’s office is far away opposite the school.
Taiwo have a thing for small children even though she is not married herself, she enjoys taking her niece out but she was in a hurry, she wanted to quickly go back and change before attending a party one of her colleague at work hosted. As the little girl happily runs down the road to meet her, she noticed a yellow convertible parked directly behind her, her jaw dropped when she saw the owner of the car.
Hey’ the familiar voice called out
Hi’ she managed to say feeling nervous all over, there was only one guy in the world that makes her feel nervous, her first love Johnson. She met Johnson when they were in the university and she fell in love at first sight, why wouldn’t she? Johnson was a 6ft tall, dark colored guy with curly hair, always smiling revealing his neatly arranged set of white teeth. As he walked towards her, feelings started flooding through her mind, they left each other on a bad term and of all places to meet after all these years is a primary school?!
What is she going to say?
Should she lie that it is her daughter?
Is he married?
Long time’ He jerked her off her thought
Yea, long time indeed’ she replied
They got talking and from there she found out that he is still single (that was really the information she held on to), he has a son who he shares joint custody with the mother. She also happily told him she’s still single and usually comes to pick her niece everyday from work, they talked for a while before he asked for her contact which she happily gave before he left.
On the drive back home, Taiwo was in smile throughout and poor Tolu thought it was her story that was making aunty Taiwo smile.

Politics / Pray For Nigeria by Fhaysal: 8:41am On Oct 01, 2017
My dear Country.
Do you remember the old good days?
When life was easy and simple?
You can actually move around the street without been molested for who you are?
The days where the Hausas, Igbos and Yorubas all live in harmony?
Those days where the word 'terrorism' was abstract
We only hear about it in news and watch it in movies?
Terrorism has destroyed many families in Nigeria
Political figures have destroyed more
Ethnicity quarrel is destroying more
Let's us all wake up before we lose the idea of what a country should be
Let's not settle for less
Let's aim for a better country
For our future generations
I want a country where ethnicity is just a form of identification not segregation
I desire for a country where we have leaders that actually CARE
Nigeria is our fatherland
There's no place like home no matter where go
So let's pray
For the bloods of the innocent that has been shed
For the wrongs we are doing to ourselves
For a better Nigeria.
For a better world for our future generations.

CHAPTER ONE
Ahmad, wake up it’s time for school’ screamed Umma Aisha
Ahmad grudgingly woke up from his bed as he made his way to the bathroom, ever since his parents changed his school, Ahmad feels reluctant to go to school, everyday it is a battle between he and his mother which he always loses. After taking his bath, he made his way to their dining room/parlour/playground, there he greeted his father who was sitting on his favorite sofa and listening to the news on his old radio set. Ahmad hurriedly finished his breakfast as he made his way to the door to escape the daily routine of applying talc powder on his face and neck, his school mates always make fun of him calling him ‘ajebota’ which he hated so much.
As he walks towards the school gate, he could see the time keeper swinging the bell announcing the time for morning assembly, he could see his mates running to escape getting by flogged by the prefects who are already stationing their selves outside the school gate to punish late comers. Since transferring to the new prestigious school, Ahmad finds it hard to make friends when he first came to the school as he only understands Hausa, his native language and a little English. The school he was attending before was a low standard school, and his mother couldn’t wait to change his school when her business started blooming as she appreciates education even though she never passed primary school herself.
After the morning assembly, the students marched their way to different classes, Ahmad entered the class, Primary 3A with their class teacher, Ms. Mojisola who is fond of Ahmad, of course she would be, Ahmad is a dark skinned thin Hausa boy with a breathtaking smile and a set of well arranged white teeth, even though he had trouble making new friends, he is intelligent and always eager to learn, many times he makes error when trying to pronounce few English words and his mates never fails to mock him, but he never relented, his zeal to properly speak English makes him her favorite student and over the one year he has spent in the school, his English has improved so much. After she has gone over the usual routine of calling the names of each student to take note of the absent ones, the School Head master came in with a new student she was briefed about the other week. The student introduced herself as Hauwa Muhammad, a Fulani girl who just moved in from the north, Ms Mojisola noticed she also has a similar problem with Ahmad when he first came to the school and as such she decided to pair them up
‘at least they speak the same native language’ so she thought.
Ahmad face lightened up when the new student was asked to sit beside him, from the first instance their eyes met and she sheepishly looked away, he felt a ting in his heart. Classes ended and as he was hurriedly arranging his books into his bag, he heard someone calling him with a soft voice, his mind was far away as he was already imagining himself at home with a bowl of food. He looked up and saw Hauwa smiling with her full set of white teeth, he lookedw back to make sure the smile was for him before he composed himself and muttered a soft yes
Can I borrow some of your notes?’ she asked in Hausa
Sure….’ He muttered happily
Which one will you like to borrow?’ he also added in Hausa
She named a few subjects and he felt a need to offer help as it will take her a while before she finish writing all the notes. He collected some of her new notes to help her copy a few subjects and he also offered to escort her to her house considering she is still new in town. She told him her brother is coming to pick her so he shouldn’t bother.
Ahmad left in a good mood knowing he has finally made his first friend since he came to the school the previous year.
Since the arrival of Hauwa in the class, Ahmad’s attitude towards school changed, he gets up early from bed before his mother even knock on their door. He organized an extra lesson for her to help her catch up with school work, and on her part she helps with provision of snacks. They became really close and most of their classmates calls them a couple, a name they never argued or fight about.

PROLOGUE
There she was standing amongst the crowd, it took him a while before he recognised her, of course it should take him a while after all, it's been 15 years since they last saw each. 15 years of him missing her and there she is looking ravishing as ever, glowing as a well refined diamond, the long silky hair finding it's way out of her scarf, he couldn't help but smile, after many years of all places to meet is an airport. Where is she traveling to? Who is she traveling with? He doesn't care and he certainly does not mind missing his flight as he strode towards her in a manner that depicts triumph....
Dating And Meet-up Zone / 7 Things To Avoid When Meeting A Girl For The First Time by Fhaysal: 11:26pm On Sep 16, 2017
There is this girl you have had a crush on for a while, and you are not sure if she likes you or not. How will you get to know that, only one way to find out, talk to her! But talking to any girl may seem hard or scary, many things could go wrong, she might not be into you and a list of other things but most atimes the reason a girl will ignore you the first time you talk to her is because of how and when you tried to spark a conversation.
It may seem rather irrelevant but there are few things as a guy, you have to consider before approaching any girl. Trust me on this, a good number of guys have been slapped because of some of these reasons. From ‘personal experience’ as well as a little research, I was able to gather few tips that will get you on the girl’s good side, and who knows, you might just get lucky.
. Approaching them in the wrong setting
Location. Location. Location. A lot of guys make this mistake of approaching a lady almost anywhere, but trust me, there are places you do not want to try your luck in, else you end up getting snubbed mor worse getting slapped. Stressful environment like workplace, class (most cases immediately after a long lecture), emotional environment like funeral, I mean who asks a girl out at a funeral? Respect the dead, brother!
. Bad joke
If it is not necessary don’t make any joke, show how serious you are, but don’t be all ‘Mr Agent-saving-the-world’ kind of serious, just serious enough for her to understand you mean ‘business’. A bad joke won’t be good on your resume, you are still at the getting-to-know-each-other-phase, an ignorant or sexist joke will allow her to make up her mind about your personality.
. Talking about yourself a lot
‘ ‘ This guy is self centered!’’ These are the kind of thoughts that will be running through her head when the whole discussion is geared towards YOU. Everybody enjoys talking about theirselves especially when there is something to brag about, but think about how she feels, ask her about her work or school and make the discussion of mutual interest.
. Starting out shy or timid
Believe me I know the feeling, walking up to a girl and expressing yourself in words can sometimes be the most difficult thing to do at that moment but don’t, I repeat don’t walk up to a girl and start out shy. Just approach her in a friendly, honest way, most women will respond positively to that.
. Using corny pick up lines
Believe me, this is not a movie where you meet a girl and tell her she looks like an angel that fell from heaven and she will be grinning with all her teeth. This is real life, pick up lines…….. well I will preferably not use any.
. Try and take it to the next level too quickly
As a guy, I understand the feeling when the girl is laughing hysterically at your jokes or from time to time she rests on your shoulder or touches your arm. Still don’t get that feeling she’s so into you, there are still boundaries, be patient, allow there to be some mystery from her end as well to wonder if you really like her or not. Play it cool bro!
. Assuming she’s already into you
Being confident might have its advantage but being too confident is not ideal. Just because you flash her a smile from afar and she returns the favor doesn’t mean she’s into, maybe she is just being polite. Believe, a lot of girls have met good looking guys with bad personality, no matter how good looking you are, you still need to show how nice and funny you are.
These are a few out of many do’s and don’ts of first meeting with a girl, mind you, following these rules doesn’t exactly mean you will get the girl, but they will save you from embarrassing yourself (maybe she’s just not into you)

Career / The Big Question: After Graduation, What's Next?! by Fhaysal: 10:30am On Sep 14, 2017
I know most people will assume the question is a very simple one, I also at a point thought I had it all figured out until when I was 'attacked' by a close friend, funny enough I found it hard to give a straight answer, I was just mumbling dozen of things that don't add up. I am sure if I ask a number of final year students only a few of them will be able to give me a straight answer on what they will do, some are lucky enough to come from a wealthy or influential family and as such, regardless of the degree they have on their certificate, a job is waiting for them but the majority of us that are from the average family, it is a struggle.
Most of us in higher institution these days are studying courses we did not apply and as such, it takes us a while before we align ourselves with the new course we are given and think of how to make a future out of it. I have met a lot of people that are 'just' in school, they have no passion or zeal towards the course they are studying and as a result they really do not have any plan after graduating, most of them end up graduating and turn to job seekers when instead they are meant to use the knowledge gained to become self employed. The typical example of such scenario is a student that applied for Medicine and surgery in a higher institution but was given Agriculture instead, the student ends up graduating with probably a pass degree and starts going to ministries or Agro industries in search of job instead of using the little knowledge gained to start a farm or poultry or something related to agriculture which by the way are many that requires little capital.
So I put it out to all students and graduates alike, start thinking of your future, it is never too early to make a plan. As the saying goes, failing to plan is planning to fail, let's start making plan for our future so that we won't end up asking ourselves 'What can I even do?'. As funny as that may sound, there are graduates that actually ask this rhetorical question after several trials of job interview. Let's try to adapt from 'do what you love' to 'love what you do' because in life, you don't always have it your way, just because life decides to change your ambition doesn't mean you shouldn't have any. Adapt, explore, learn and plan for your future so that you won't end up adding to the number of unemployed graduates that is booming year by year.

Health / Health Check Up Negligence by Fhaysal: 11:57pm On Sep 12, 2017
'Health is wealth’ is a common quote we all grew up knowing. Being healthy is a privilege not everyone have, some people are financially rich but health-wise they are struggling, changing hospitals and consultants and at the long run, they might end up spending all their wealth on the pursuit of sound health. As graceful as God is, most of the poor people are sound in health, a privilege they tend to abuse from time to time.
Medical checkup is a thorough physical examination, which includes a variety of tests depending on the age, sex and health of the individual. You don’t have to be sick before you go for a medical checkup, as they say prevention is better than cure. We are in a world today where our environments are polluted, the air, water and land. Everything we eat always come in a can or polythene package, almost 80% of our food are grown inorganically i.e there is use of synthetics such as chemical fertilizers and pesticides to grow the food crops. With all these factors 'eating' us little by little, are we fit to be called healthy?
Visiting an hospital may sound scary, I know a good number of people who haven’t actually being to an hospital as a patient before, but to keep it that way, we need to checkup our health status on a regular basis as prevention is far more powerful than cure. Some people may have a family history of some genetic disease, yet they still ignore it and never try to prevent themselves from being victims of such disease. As you grow older, your body grows weaker and is more susceptible to microbial invasion.
People atimes will complain about the cost, but believe me no cost is too high to ensure your sound health because when you fall sick, you are definitely going to spend more than you fear. Visit a hospital today in your locality and know your health status, don’t procrastinate because your health is a very important aspect of your life and everyday our body systems are exposed to the exhaust fumes from engines, smokes from industries, leachates contaminating our water bodies e.t.c. With all this pollution around us, we can never be too sure about how healthy we really are.

Fashion / Common Fashion Mistakes by Fhaysal: 11:26pm On Sep 12, 2017
Fashion is the popular or latest style, most especially in clothing, footwear, accessories, makeup e.t.c. Fashion is what we deal with everyday, even people who are not very enthusiastic about how they look choose clothes every morning that reflects their mood. One certain thing in the fashion world is change, we are constantly being bombarded with new fashion ideas from music, movies, books e.t.c. Most of today’s fashion is influenced by models and celebrities.
Fashion mistakes are simply the fashion blunders we make when trying to look good or stand out, most times they are honest mistakes we make on regular basis or when we try to copy what we see on the T.V, below are some common fashion mistakes we make without even noticing although some are obvious.
Not dressing for your body type
I have seen people forcing themselves into clothes that are obviously too small or too large for them, i know there are some styles that involves you wearing a baggy or a skinny but regardless, do not, I repeat do not wear a clothe that does not suit your body type. You see a guy with a dry chest and a pot belly forcing himself into a body hug, like seriously? Dude, you have nothing impressive to show, hide it till you do some work out, we don’t want to see your flabby stomach! Same goes for the ladies, hide your little ‘bump’ under a more convenient clothe, believe me, you will feel more comfortable and also look more presentable.
Blindly following trends
Believe me, not all trends are for everyone, if a certain trend doesn’t fit you, sit it out, don’t go into it because you saw your favorite celebrity wearing it on t.v and you think it will look cool on you. Not all trends are for our ‘normal’ daily activities. Infact to me, having your own style seems better.
Not dressing properly for the occasion
Following a dress code is about being respectful to the host of the event you are attending, following a dress code doesn’t necessary mean you shouldn’t explore your creative side, but don’t entirely disregard it. People attend events that has a dress code that strictly reads ‘CORPORATE DRESSING’, but they still choose to wear traditional attire like agbada, I mean, we know you have a fine agbada you want to show off but wait till you are attending a wedding or something.
Spending on the wrong things
Spend money on the basic staple items you need in your wardrobe, the trendy pieces that you may regret a few months later are not the items to blow you cash on. People end up buying clothe they won’t even wear at the long run just because it is the trend. That is wrong, buy clothes you need, clothes that will fit you.
These are just a few of the many fashion mistakes we make just to look fashionable but remember ‘SIMPLICITY IS THE BEST FORM OF SOPHISTICATION’. You don’t have to wear a bling to look dope, you don’t have to carry a Louis Vuitton handbag to be fashionable, just have your style!

Romance / Getting Over Someone! by Fhaysal: 4:42pm On Sep 11, 2017
I don't know much about heartache and misery but I am certain an unrequited love is a painful feeling. The moment you are stuck on someone that doesn't see you as a possible partner or doesn't have any interest in you, believe I understand the feeling, the heartache, the pain of been in a one-sided love, it is hard to move on. People claim they are strong hearted and thus can easily move on but no! That's a fallacy, if you truly liked someone, it will take you a while and a hit of reality before you get over such person.

Some people make the mistake of going into a relationship with someone else just to get over their feelings, but that is wrong on many levels, you will just end up comparing your partner with the person you would have loved to be with. That won't end well and you would just fall more into depression and have that notion you cannot be happy with someone else other than who you love.

Getting over your feelings for someone requires you to accept the fact that you love such person, in fact the number one rule of getting over anything in life is acceptance. You must first accept the reality of the situation (Yes I am in love with this guy/girl, but I cannot be with him/her). That's a reality you have to accept and admit, you don't have to lie about it. Own it, there's no shame in doing that and when you have accepted that reality, it will help you in understanding why you actually even liked the person in the first instance. Was it the smile? Or the face? Or how the person talks? Or the individual's personality as a whole?Knowing why you liked the person is ideal but not necessary, sometimes we don't know why we actually love someone. We just do and there's no problem with that.

If you have accepted the fact that you are in love with someone you cannot be with, then you look at the reason why you cannot be with that person, is it something you have power over? If you can do something about it, then fine, get on with it and be with your lover but most atimes, it is something beyond our control and we just have to come in terms with it. Instead of sitting and mopping around, work on yourself, if the person doesn't want you then make him/her regret their decision. Check your flaws and try to overcome the ones you can deal with, develop into a better version of yourself. By doing this, you are occupying yourself and you will have no time to sit and think of the person, and by the time you are done with upgrading yourself, you will have that boost of confidence and self esteem and believe me, when you have reached that stage, you will realize this person you claim to love so much is just another human being on this planet.
Agriculture / Inadequate Storage Facilities: How It Is Affecting Our Agriculture by Fhaysal: 7:53am On Aug 31, 2017
What is storage in agriculture? Storage in agriculture is simply the act of keeping farm produce ‘safe’ after harvest before taking it to the market for sale or for further processing (Take note of the word safe, the farm produce you intend to keep have to be in good condition or else they get spoilt and you lose your crops even before taking them to the market). Meanwhile, storage facilities are infrastructures that are built primarily to keep farm produce safe before marketing or other intended use, examples include barn, jute bags, silos e.t.c. Storage of farm produce has a lot of significance in agriculture which affects the development of agriculture in Nigeria, although most farmers themselves give little significance to storing of farm produce. I’m not insinuating that farmers don’t store their farm produce, but when we talk about storage, it doesn’t just mean keeping your farm produce in a room and that’s it. No! There are factors to be considered before deeming a room fit to be used as a storage facility (also it could be a bag); temperature, moisture content, security, location e.t.c. The most important function of storage is to keep the farm produce safe from damage by pest or disease before marketing, and for a storage facility to keep the farm produce safe especially the easily perishable ones, the condition of the storage facility has to be optimum. Other importance of storage includes:
1. The storage of goods, from the time of production to the time of consumption, therefore ensuring a continuous flow of goods in the market
2. Storage protects the quality of perishable and semi-perishable products from deterioration
3. Some of the goods e.g woolen garments have a seasonal demand. To cope with this demand, production on a continuous basis and storage becomes necessary
4. It helps in the stabilization of prices by adjusting demand and supply
5. Storage is necessary for some period, for performance of other marketing functions
6. Storage provides employment and income through price advantages.
These are a few of the many importance of storage facilities in agriculture, but most of our farmers lack these facilities and as a result, it affects the development of agriculture in Nigeria on a large scale. The problems of lack of storage facilities in Nigeria are numerous, but on a broader scale, they can be divided under the following:
1. Farmer’s income: Without functional storage facilities, farmers are forced to either produce crop on a small scale or produce on a large scale and sell at a very cheap price, therefore making little or no profit. Storage of produce is almost as important as growing of crops because when crops are harvested and not stored properly, they are prone to be attacked by storage pest and disease which reduces the quantity and quality of the farm produce, thus reducing the income of the farmer.
2. Food scarcity: Generally most farmers in Nigeria practice subsistence farming, but the few ones that engage in commercial farming encounter the problem of food storage. As a result of this, there is fluctuation in the availability of farm produce in the market, atimes even when the produce are available, the prices are high because of their scarcity and as a result, consumers find it difficult to purchase most of these farm produce.
3. Price fluctuation: There is price fluctuation in the market, when the crops are immediately harvested, without functional storage facilities, farmers will be eager to sell their produce quickly especially the easily perishable crops mostly the horticultural crops at cheap prices, and when these produce are scarce their price rises up, and also because during the time when these produce are being sold at a cheaper price, the middle men buy them in bulk and hoard until they become scarce. This particular situation makes farming discouraging to young farmers, as the farmers do all the hardwork but the people that benefits more from it are the middle men.
4. Post harvest losses: Due to lack of adequate storage facilities, the rate of post harvest losses is increasing. Post harvest losses are caused by a number of factors including poor transportation, poor preservation of produce e.t.c, but the major factor of post harvest losses is inadequate storage facilities. According to the permanent secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Sonny Echono, post harvest losses have been estimated to range between 5% and 20% for grains, 20% for fish and as high as 50-60% for tubers, fruits and vegetables. All these losses are due to several factors but when closely studied, lack of storage facilities constitutes about 75%.
These are some of the major effects of lack of storage facilities in Nigeria and if not taken into cognizance, they all pose a threat to food security and agricultural development in Nigeria, certain measure have to be taken. These measures include:
1. Provision of standard storage facilities by the authorities to localities or communities for general use.
2. The government should take the responsibility of buying most of the farm produce from farmers to store and release based on market demand so as to efficiently control market price fluctuation.
3. Farmers should be enlightened on the importance of keeping the condition of the room optimum so as to reduce pest and disease build up.
4. The authorities can provide storage chemicals to use against pest and disease and also teach them how to use it properly to avoid contamination of farm produce.
5. Farmers can be enlightened on use of traditional materials to store farm produce e.g jute bags can be effectively used to store cereals. Jute bags have a lot of advantage over many other bags like plastic as it is natural and keeps for long.
6. Farmers can also be taught on how to build for themselves simple storage places like silos, silage, barn e.t.c. These type of storage facilities are not expensive and can easily be built even by the locals.
These are a few simple measures the appropriate authorities can take to ensure there is adequate storage facilities available to almost every farmer in Nigeria to ensure proper development of agriculture, because when there is an all year round supply of farm produce, Nigeria as a country will have the means necessary to compete with other Nations on international scale when it comes to exporting of farm produce and this will help in adding to the country’s gross income and diversifying the country’s economy.

Education / Is It All About The Certificate?! by Fhaysal: 6:42am On Aug 31, 2017
Certificate; an official document attesting a fact, in this sense an academic certificate is a document that certifies that a person has received specific education or has passed a test or series of tests i.e a proof of knowledge. So much importance has been given to the certificate that we almost forgot the reason why we go to school. I am not insinuating that the certificate is useless or not needed, the fact is the certificate was created to show proof of moral and academic excellence, but today people carry around certificate they do not even deserve, how is that for excellence?
‘They say knowledge cannot be bought, it can only be acquired’, I agree with that 100% but when having a certificate is regarded to as almost acquiring knowledge itself, then that saying fails to be true because as we all know, currently certificate are gotten illegally and used for seeking jobs and other posts in various walks of life.
Knowledge is the reason school was created, parents sends their children to school primarily to gain knowledge and it is with this knowledge an educated individual can differentiate himself/herself from a literate. The certificate is supposed to be given to an individual that has proven himself/herself to be academically and morally sound through various examinations and tests. That is supposed to be the norm but I feel little significance is given as people are awarded certificate they cannot defend. People have forgotten the primary purpose of education, we all attend classes just to write test, pass exams and graduate with a certificate. The lectures we take flies away from our heads immediately after an exam. Graduates find it hard to defend their certificate during job interviews obviously because they do not deserve what is showing on their certificate.
We need to remember why we are in school, KNOWLEDGE! Not CERTIFICATE!!.

Education / Our Attitude Towards Education by Fhaysal: 6:36am On Aug 31, 2017
In a typical African home, the aim or desire of the parent is to see their child pass through school, graduate and start working. Any work that pays the highest is regarded as the best choice for the child regardless of his/her talents. Most of us grew up wanting to be doctors, lawyers, engineers e.t.c. not because we actually want to be doctors or engineers but the profession has been portrayed to be the only profession we can actually pursue. As a child growing up, i had no idea there were even other professions other than being a medical doctor, everybody around me were either encouraging me to pursue such career or they themselves are pursuing it.
Talent is given little or no attention, everybody wants to make it big, and by making it big i mean it is either you are a doctor, an engineer, a lawyer or an accountant. Any career that sways from these already 'destined' careers is disregarded. Many students find it hard to cope with school life not because they are dull but because they are in the wrong pursuit of life. I mean you can't expect a child that literally sucks at arithmetic and calculus to make a good engineer, before you know it such student will be battling with several carry overs in the university and it will reach that threshold limit where he/she cannot cope anymore, such student drops out and is regarded as a disappointment by both the parent and the society. Nobody ever cared to know what he/she is passionate about, you either be an engineer or forget about school and as a result we just lost ourselves an upcoming Nobel laureate, fine artist, fashion designer e.t.c
Education is the process of gaining knowledge and i might also add proper utilization of the knowledge gained to better oneself. If you learn something new and you haven't put it into practice, or haven't understood the message sent, i suppose we can't say you have been educated. For you to call yourself an educated fellow, you need to have an understanding of the knowledge you claim to have. For an individual to understand or fully grasp the content of the knowledge being taught, the person needs to have a keen interest in that knowledge being passed. This is found lacking in over 50% of students in tertiary institution these days. It is either the student is studying a course his/her parent want or the institution changes ones chosen course to another due to result and other reasons.
Many students end up graduating and pursuing careers they have no interest in, they say true happiness comes when your are doing what you love to do not trying to love what you are doing. I mean how do you expect me to reach my potentials when i have zero interest in what i am doing, work becomes something you do just to survive not something you do because you love doing it and wish to better your community through your work. How can you develop proper work ethic when you have no interest in the work, we claim customer services are poor, have we ever cared to ask the attendant or cashier at the bank what he/she wanted to be?

Who do we blame? Our parents or the society or even the school system that segregates us when we were still innocent, why assign students to either science, arts or commercial class based on result, why not based on I.Q level and interest? Why?!
