donbrowser: I saw your picture and realized I should not have addressed you in the first place but I’ll do it for the last time for you to learn if you choose. Nairaland is a faceless forum and as such has a way of making you respond to people you should be teaching. You’re a very young man who might probably still live with his parents and so has the luxury of making wrong decisions. When you get of age , you’ll understand a lot of things that would only need to be learnt through experiences and the mistakes you’re making now. For now enjoy your youth, but also remember to be sensible while doing it or you might end up living a mediocre adult life. 4 Likes |

The Nigerian political class keep bandying around the word “patriotic” to the keep the uninformed Nigerians at bay and instill a sense of perpetual follower-ship but they forget that the sense of feeling patriotic is based on positive values, justice , equality and justice which is absent in Nigeria. What the young man up there is unknowingly advocating for is “Nationalism” which often degenerates into superior and separatist beliefs and breeds hate groups and promotion of distrust among citizens as time goes on as seen in the current Nigerian space. Our leaders love to throw the word “Patriotism” around but are one of the most unpatriotic set of leaders the world have ever seen.. They advocate for masses to bear the brunt of removal of Fuel subsidy et al and endure trying times but are still collecting huge salaries and fat bonuses. They entrench their children/families into government positions and businesses opened while in government and loot the country dry. The real problem we have are their foolish supporters who either support them based on tribal affiliations or because of the peanut payments they receive. Without these set of people our unpatriotic leaders will cease to exist but they won’t , because ignorant people are always in their multitudes. 2 Likes |

pope191: Thank you .. In as much as I don’t negate the fact that driving pays , I’ll always take a good corporate job over it. When I started working, I would set aside 200k from my salary each month for expenses and I would still have a remainder before the next pay day. The rest went into savings. Not to mention my HMO which covered my hospital bills plus any medications and pension which is still sitting somewhere. I’ve always been an advocate of entrepreneurship and self employment but having been on the other side , I’d pick it even if it paid less but allows me time to do other things. But I also admit that there are bad jobs but these should serve as lessons and motivation to innovate and grow. 2 Likes |

BAZ001: Thank you brother. I don’t honestly have anything against him. Most times I’ll just ignore comments but the fact that he is all over nairaland at most times of the day when he should be making use of his time is discouraging. He is a young man and has a right on who to support . The problem is if he is doing it for free, l’d actually respect him if he’s actually getting paid handsomely and not peanuts as even the so called patriots of other developed nations have multiple reasons to feel patriotic. 1 Like |

And to add , I’ll always be grateful for experiences gathered while in e-hailing because it made me more disciplined and put food on my table while I up-skilled. Discipline that made me stick through the process. And also to those who think all 9-5 jobs are shitty, I’ll beg you to reconsider. I’ve been an entrepreneur, I have driven albeit for a short while but I’ll tell you that nothing beats the peace of mind that comes with a nice corporate job, especially if you’re in IT. The least I saw anyone earn around me was 400k and those were entry level . My colleagues were all remote workers but we would come to the office at least once a week because we’ve missed the office ambience. Don’t let anybody fool you if you’re young , driving is not a transferable skill that can put you in a good place if you want to japa or live a fulfilled life abroad. If you’re dedicated , your skill can aid your japa as I am a living witness . At the end of the day , it’s a personal choice and all man must run his own race. 19 Likes 1 Share

The foolishness of the many is why the few wise men suffer. This is why Nigeria will never get better. That’s because we will always have people who will support the worst administration in Nigeria due to tribalism, party affiliation, handouts, defend electoral malpractice and heist while living in penury and looking for ways to travel and seek asylum in Europe. People like you are the reason why the country will never get better and I shake my head whenever I read your comments. The time spent on Nairaland defending this incompetent government and lying about being a digital marketer with two companies and earning in dollars should be funneled into learning an actual skill which would help you in getting an actual job. I am not one to throw bants but the fact that you were on Nairaland on a clear afternoon (when normal people were working their asses off) just to make a smirky comment on a sales post that I made in another nairaland section shows how dense a person can be. The fact that you could not afford to buy the things that people put up for sale does not mean others can’t . 80% of the properties I had up for sale was done on nairaland and people who could afford it bought it off. But then , I’ll leave this advice for you - - shun tribalism, the political does not give a damn about bottom feeders and only care about their interest and those that offer value. - Focus your time on productive things, either actually driving or learning a skill. - Don’t burn bridges with your comments as most people see your comments on Nairaland and would assess you based on that. Only the rich has that luxury of burning bridges. The person I recommended for my position before I relocated was a guy from from nairaland I advised to go into my field early last year and he got the job. He’s on this thread and he can choose to remain anonymous if he wishes.. I am in a good place and it is not out of luck, it was God first and then making good use of my time . After I quit driving , I worked with a multinational, a tier 1 bank, a foreign IT firm and a Nigerian software development firm, all within a few years. I even did two jobs at some point and none of these jobs paid me less than 600k a month. But I still left because the country will never get better with the likes of you who are praise singers/Sirens and would shout down criticisms at every turn. I’m not upset at you because it’s a democratic society and it’s your right to vote and support whomever you chose but I am just saddened by the fact that your actions are affecting innocent people who had nothing to do with this . This is why I will always support the view that foolish people should have their own country.. 10 Likes

It’s been a long time off here but I will say this , a lot of people do not actually realize that this thread offers a pool of lessons (amidst the whole fights and cruise catching) for anyone who wants to grow. Nobody owes you a direct explanation on how they migrated to a better country. If you are literate and you are expecting to be spoon-fed on how to travel then your education should be in doubt . There are a million and one resources out there on the internet but you choose to use your time blaming or shaming one who did his research and is in a better country. Use the internet , there are several pathways to migrate to better countries using this route especially for tech related people. Also its absurd hearing the accusation that Bazoo was being bankrolled because he got a job and was providing value under Diezani. This is akin to accusing a banker of being complicit because the Bank manager stole funds in the bank. I remember when I drove on the platform , I realized that this was not my path and I set my mind to quitting before hitting the 1 year mark . I took resources off the internet , learnt some new skills and I left the platform before hitting 6 months on this platform. I believe I left a post a long time ago on how I moved on from the platform. Some people would choose to criticize while some will learn from it and grow . It was a personal decision and I am better for it . I have declined offers to move to Middle East countries from companies because I have my sights on a different country and I know it will come one day . Again, this post is not for everyone. Some are ok driving for a living while some will eventually skill up and move on to other things . But one thing should constantly be in the mind of every sane person out there and that is growth. And also people are different , the diverse nature of people in a society’s social strata is what makes life interesting. Nobody should be chided because he chooses to have a different way of expression. Learn or perish. 22 Likes 1 Share |

dru23: I understand your point, guess you will have to figure out ways to get more "off the grid" money even if it means investing outside the US where you live which I think you're doing already. A lot of us pay 25% income tax here in Nigeria with little or no benefit to our standard of living. If given a choice, I'd rather pay it overseas and know that I am getting value for it.. 6 Likes |

dru23: I will just like to admit that you're right even though I know that Nigeria and the US have a similar tax rate system that sees your tax increase with your income. But for someone who earns between 70k to 160k per annum there, its still the same 25 % (or perhaps 28 at most there in yankee) that we pay in Nigeria(for those that earn above 3m per annum) here or with a slight difference...its only those that haven't had corporate jobs here in Nigeria that will travel abroad and complain of taxes. People should learn to make research on their own and stop believing in hearsay about taxes. I don't get all the talk about high tax rate overseas unless you're earning above 160k which I know you are aware of, that might shoot your income tax rate to over 30%, I guess you know that there are people that pay lesser tax there too..its only logical that if you earn more, you will pay more. Those that offered courses in taxation will certainly know these things. So if I can get an extra 50k per year after taxes with my 2nd job doing something I love and with ease , why will I settle for one?. I'm not one for argument superiority, this is all for enlightenment but not to things that are easily verifiable from our people and colleagues there. 9 Likes 2 Shares |

dru23: Please sir, don't be mischievous. You know that was a typo and I meant per year. This is supposed to be a learning opportunity for people who want to learn and grow especially for people in e-hailing that don't like driving and also don't have the opportunity to know this. If it wasn't for someone who introduced me to my current IT field, I'd never had know about it not to talk of delving into it. Don't deny younger people that opportunity by throwing bants over serious stuffs like this. Alot of people are reading this thread low key and learning. 19 Likes 1 Share |
