It’s been a long time off here but I will say this , a lot of people do not actually realize that this thread offers a pool of lessons (amidst the whole fights and cruise catching) for anyone who wants to grow.

Nobody owes you a direct explanation on how they migrated to a better country. If you are literate and you are expecting to be spoon-fed on how to travel then your education should be in doubt . There are a million and one resources out there on the internet but you choose to use your time blaming or shaming one who did his research and is in a better country. Use the internet , there are several pathways to migrate to better countries using this route especially for tech related people.
Also its absurd hearing the accusation that Bazoo was being bankrolled because he got a job and was providing value under Diezani. This is akin to accusing a banker of being complicit because the Bank manager stole funds in the bank.

I remember when I drove on the platform , I realized that this was not my path and I set my mind to quitting before hitting the 1 year mark . I took resources off the internet , learnt some new skills and I left the platform before hitting 6 months on this platform. I believe I left a post a long time ago on how I moved on from the platform. Some people would choose to criticize while some will learn from it and grow . It was a personal decision and I am better for it . I have declined offers to move to Middle East countries from companies because I have my sights on a different country and I know it will come one day .

Again, this post is not for everyone. Some are ok driving for a living while some will eventually skill up and move on to other things . But one thing should constantly be in the mind of every sane person out there and that is growth.
And also people are different , the diverse nature of people in a society’s social strata is what makes life interesting. Nobody should be chided because he chooses to have a different way of expression.

Learn or perish.

I really don't want to get into details... But I get tax alot that it is unfair to me ..........

Example :
Now for a single man in the USA making 6 figures or more and the cost of living is High .. That 6 figures becomes nothing ... I have been audited about 4 times by the IRS . The more you make the more you get tax.
So na to think outside the box

For reasons known to me , I will not want to talk about taxes anymore..

Also the cost of living is High in my state.. For you to be ok and be comfortable , u will need to make at least 6 figures income .... The cost of 1 bedroom apartment is around $2k per month .. The average cost of single family home will cost you around $500k . At least u go budget that amount.. Anything less than that na waste of time.........

Even if you are making $60k per year after tax etc . you will be leaving pay check to pay check.......

I would love to elaborate more .. I no get power to dey explain..

I understand your point, guess you will have to figure out ways to get more "off the grid" money even if it means investing outside the US where you live which I think you're doing already.
A lot of us pay 25% income tax here in Nigeria with little or no benefit to our standard of living. If given a choice, I'd rather pay it overseas and know that I am getting value for it..

We need to be careful on how we pass information.....

I keep saying that I don't have issues for people japping. But for once he has not given details or information that can help others to Japa.

All he talks about is japa and IT ... What advice has he given in terms of schooling etc. Has he talk about school cost or any valuable information that will help the audience make better decisions.........

I will use myself for example .. I detail my uber experience here. I was able to detail my experience and give pointers on how to run the business type of cars running cost...

My contribution on uber thread was able to give any potential investors on ways to run a business. I had so many people calling me on how to run the business. I didn't just tell people go invest in uber without giving them the necessary information that will help them......

Doing 2 IT jobs.. U stated that your friend does 2 IT jobs and makes over $100k a year. But with the right information you will make that amount with 1 job and have time for family....... Doing 2 or more jobs will kill you in taxes.. You will end up working for "uncle Sam" the IRS....... If you are doing 2 IT jobs, u are not better off than Uber drivers in Yankee. I know some of my friends doing uber and they can make $3k a week before taxes.. That is about $156k a year how are u better off than them .........

The goal here if you are doing 9 to 5 is work less and make money .. I just do your 40hrs a week and make $ 100k a year ..... This is why I started doing business in Nigeria . The government was rapping me with taxes and I didn't come to count bridges either in Nigeria or Yankee .....

You stated that people are doing better than does that came 5 to 15 years ago ... But for me I want to do better for the next generation . So that they will not have to work 2 jobs .. They will have more options to choose from............ If you open eye this world na scam ... You need to make ur own way and succeed and think outside the box ...

As I dey now I dey party. I no fit do 2 jobs and have government tax my butt.

I will just like to admit that you're right even though I know that Nigeria and the US have a similar tax rate system that sees your tax increase with your income. But for someone who earns between 70k to 160k per annum there, its still the same 25 % (or perhaps 28 at most there in yankee) that we pay in Nigeria(for those that earn above 3m per annum) here or with a slight difference...its only those that haven't had corporate jobs here in Nigeria that will travel abroad and complain of taxes.
People should learn to make research on their own and stop believing in hearsay about taxes.

I don't get all the talk about high tax rate overseas unless you're earning above 160k which I know you are aware of, that might shoot your income tax rate to over 30%, I guess you know that there are people that pay lesser tax there too..its only logical that if you earn more, you will pay more. Those that offered courses in taxation will certainly know these things.

So if I can get an extra 50k per year after taxes with
my 2nd job doing something I love and with ease , why will I settle for one?.
I'm not one for argument superiority, this is all for enlightenment but not to things that are easily verifiable from our people and colleagues there.

$100k per month ×12 = $1.2m per year

Please sir, don't be mischievous. You know that was a typo and I meant per year.

This is supposed to be a learning opportunity for people who want to learn and grow especially for people in e-hailing that don't like driving and also don't have the opportunity to know this.
If it wasn't for someone who introduced me to my current IT field, I'd never had know about it not to talk of delving into it. Don't deny younger people that opportunity by throwing bants over serious stuffs like this.
Alot of people are reading this thread low key and learning.

Dru, I have always enjoyed your posts and openness on this thread but I think baz001 is right on this one.
There are different IT fields where one can do two jobs or even 3 comfortably.
That your  friend is a programmer and decides to stick to one job is his choice but then again, I agree that programming jobs are tasking fields that demands attention especially if you're working for start up firms.
There are IT fields one can go in and comfortably do two to three jobs. Jobs like -
Cloud software engineers
Automation test engineers
Penetration testers
Scrum masters
IT project managers
Cyber security experts

IT is a broad field and if you don't get the right information you'll delve right into programming and think that's all to IT. Along the line you'll find out it's tasking and you weren't cut out for it. I have a friend who moved to the US in 2020 and he does two jobs comfortably, earns over 100k usd per month in each of them and can work from anywhere. He's Cloud software engineer and literally does two jobs. Told me he's looking to add a third when he's done with another certification course. There's nothing like enough money and if he can do two jobs to earn double per year comfortably why settle for less.
I have another friend in who is a pen tester and he's with 2 companies in that same US.
These day's youth are smarter now, even while working, they are looking out for Jobs that are less tasking but pay more and they can even do two jobs while at it.
One of the highest paying jobs in the IT field in the US and worldwide which is cybersecurity is not as hard as people think and you only need python basics to proceed with it.
Programming is just but a subset in the IT field, the trick is to learn one of these  key languages - Java, python and Javascript and go into a field like data science, Test automation, cyber security, AI. Then sit down after learning, maximize your time and earn more  money.
Web development which most people just call programming is what  we mostly know here in Nigeria as IT, this might not be as high paying in the future and is gradually getting saturated.
I am in Test automation and I can tell you that I can do three jobs if I want here in Nigeria. I work remote and I control my time and resources. All I do is to have my test suite ready and when handed a project I run my tests, get results, analyse and that's it. I tried coding( web Dev)  but that wasn't for me because I didn't have the patience for that . I dropped my 2nd job last month because I am now taking a new programming language class as it is a requisite for the new role I am eyeing . All these because I want to be ready for the market when japa comes. And I just got into the IT field this year.

As Bazoo rightly said, young graduates who move to the US within the last five years are more likely to make more money  because they are better informed and armed with the right skills than those who went way before them.

You can still be driving and learning at the same time. Read, research and know where your strength lies as IT can accommodate all.. But that's if you're between 28 - 40 with the zeal to get into the new future where IT will be the real deal in the market sector.

I posted here one time last two years or so that I needed a driver for one of my cars (camry sport 09) but I was advised against putting it up by someone here. I decided to not put it on e-hailing as I had a Corolla coming in. And when the Corolla came in, I looked at the market and decided it was not worth me (personal opinion) so I sold it. Things got rough last last year and I started bolt with the camry. I made the switch this year into IT (no certification, just knowledge) and stopped driving this year.  Nothing beats the peace and money that comes with doing what you love and at your own time.

I have learnt a lot from this thread and I hope this will also spur some people to see this as a stop gap, give yourself a target of 6 months to 1 year to stop driving and use that time to learn and upskill.. Finally, e no easy but e go easy if you put your mind there.

Special respect to Pearl1910 for your utmost maturity, Felicity,Dru, Pope, gentlelife, you guys keep the thread going and informative...

Brother, if you can't develop a thick skin over issues such as this, please don't table them on social media platforms.

Thank you, I'll consider this but people learn everyday and I consider all criticisms as positive ones.
