Entertainment / Re: Ebuka Obi-Uchendu Wants Prostitution To Be Legalized In Nigeria by fiscalcliff: 7:10pm On Jun 21, 2013
Typical 9ja hypocritical reactions
Ostriches hiding their head in the sands of delusion
The guy advanced a viewpoint which you are free to support or reject
What is the difference between corrupt politicians and hustling ashewos?
A politician loots the nation's Commonwealth while an ashewo sells her body, many a times patronized by this politicians
While it is not something (prostitution) I 'm in support of, that's her business especially if she's not a religious advocate
Face it, not everyone adheres to religious indoctrination which is a personal thing though God means it for all men
Never forget there's what is called FREE WILL
Lets's stop behaving like the Pharisees who crucified Christ
Or did prostitution cease when Christ was on Earth?
Even though Christ warned those with opposing viewpoints to his of their doom and destruction, he did not call down hell fire upon their souls immediately
Let`s advocate superior moral arguments rather than religious castigation
After all we see many of our 'men of God' openly frolicking with and 'blessing' our corrupt leaders on TV and we say nothing to them but ashewos are far too easy game

Lakehay21: Surviving as a Nigerian student in the UK was not as easy as I thought, but I managed to adjust with time. But surviving here is really not as hard as you think. Just be open-minded and network with people not just Nigerians. You'll survive.
Word up Leke21
What's the dub about life in Sunderland? Locals openness, social life, school life and all?
How do you survive on £30 a week seeing it sounds incredulous?
How much do you spend on accommodation? What facilities does it offer, heating, Internet, etc?
Are you in Univ of Sunderland? How is the school rated?
Also are student part time jobs easily available? Anything for IT inclined folks?
Do share and let us learn
Thanks

Weigh the pros and coins of education in either country, put it to prayer (as your post shows you have religious inclination, then bite your bullet).
Recall everything in life is a risk because life has no guarantees yet calculated risks pay off.
Politics / Re: Ubah Tackles Obi Over Car Gifts To Traditional Rulers by fiscalcliff: 11:01am On Jun 20, 2013
berem: Are you sure he really supported the governor? besides, if the governor wanted to give the traditional rulers cars, why wait for 7 whole years to do that. I don't see anything wrong with the car gifts. Most governors do the same. Remember that traditional rulers in Nigeria are being given monthly salaries by their various state government.
Why should the Commonwealth of Nigeria be used to to lubricate the greedy throats of this traditional 'fathers'
Are they elected by the people undecided undecided
Their respective commuinities (if they desire an oba, obi, emir etc) should be in charge of their welfare and not the state govt
Nigeria as I correctly recall is a republic
Most of this so called traditional rulers are nothing but thieving collaborators with the govt

Some would say, why buy a Chinese tablet?
Good question!
While many are becoming more aware that China is the manufacturing centre of the world, the companies who have moved base over there enforce standards
Standards is what many a made in China product [except those made by American/European/some Asian companies with manufacturing presence there] lack
And its all because of one thing, COST
However some indigenous Chinese companies with an eye on the Western, European and global spread are slowly pushing the boundaries to bring well made products to the market
The older ones know once upon a time time, Made in Aba meant substandard production
However today, its not really like that any more
Suffice to say, that also applies to China too now
Technology Market / Re: Pipo Max M9 3G Tablet Unboxing: Pre-order delivery by balogunsam to fiscalcliff by fiscalcliff: 11:56am On Jun 17, 2013
A quick insert, I don't know balogunsam personally
I've never done business with him until now
I'm just a nairalander who read what others [nairalanders] wrote about him and decided to give him a try
Infact this my first time of doing an electronic preordered purchase with any Nigerian
Like I told him on whatsapp, e-business is the way to go but how do you trust a Nigerian to promise you a service, take your money and not scam you? angry
Especially one you have never met in person only through electronic means?
I decided to go with my gut feeling and sensing of my inward man about his kind of person
I should see my Pipo M9 in the next 2-4 hours and share better with other nairalanders
After all, knowledge is power
So keep your fingers ready and enjoy the convo

Hi all
I'm fiscalcliff
I started this thread to talk about my brand new Pipo Max M9 3g tablet which I ordered from a fellow nairalander balogunsam
The tablet came in from China and I'm yet to lay my hands on it
However as at 30 minutes ago, I know I'm getting it today thanks to DHL tracking
For those wincing and grimacing about China, know that this tablet is a very high end tablet built on an SoC chip set that is one of the best [top 3] as at this very moment in time i.e. June 2013
Keep your fingers ready to type and follow me as I unveil this 10.1 inch device from this evening and the coming days

justwise:

1. Yes its 3months before the resumption date.

2.Yes you can apply for visa from the UK.

3.I don't think there is any favorable or non favorable EU country for that as far as i know.

Oga justwise, thanks for your reply
Swift and straight to the point
Regarding you second reply, does this apply also to STUDY VISAS to cross over from the UK and go on to countries like Norway, Germany or some few EU countries which still offer free education or is it just only visiting visas?
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply pete about the withdrawal limits
I take it you are drawing funds from your Nigerian account though you are in the UK as our Nigerian banks now encourage us to do that
Yet doesn't it have drawbacks e.g. having issues with your account that you wont be able to withdraw like you said in your post?

don't they do business planning?
how can they now be talking of cost implication?
can contracts be UNILATERALLY be suspended by one of the parties?
i doubt such was factored in into the different coaches contracts else why broadcast it in the newspapers to sway our emotions towards the nff

Investment / Re: Nigerian Insurance Sector Shares: Analysis Wanted (AIICO, NEM, Allie, Custodian) by fiscalcliff: 7:46am On Apr 10, 2013
olushowunm: No solid company in this sector, all is having different issues and its long term, which they have been unable to solve across board.
In the interest of fair hearing and analysis, check their last 5 years annual reports and you will see that some don't even have any report in the public domain. And this makes any analysis difficult to come by.

the above contributor nails this with his reply
i recall hearing 2 days back on CNCBC Africa that the Nigerian insurance sector is a no show
the op and other would be investors try watching it more often

Morning thread contributors who spit insight by their replies,
1]What is the maximum amount per transaction from a British ATM [In Nigeria its 20-40k depending on the bank]?
What is the total daily transaction I can take from a British ATM [In Nigeria its 150k]?

2]Also how long can a return ticket stay valid for?
Most airline/travel agents websites grey off their calendars after about 6 months and I should be in the UK for about 16 months
Is it worth it, buying a return ticket or should I just settle for one way straight up?

Thanks for the replies

Evening Justwise and thread contributors who spit insight by their replies, I got my CAS today though my school resumes first week of October, please how soon can I apply for my visa?
I believe I once saw 3months to resumption somewhere
Am I mistaken?

Also,I plan on visiting continental Europe after my first semester and during summer, can I process my visa over there or would I have to process it from here?
If from here under what category would I apply for it since no one from there is extending an invitation to me?
would i have to have gotten my UK visa first?
also which european country do you think is most favourable and open towards such an application?

Thanks for the replies
