mr.drizzy:I have to disagree with you on some things drizzy though I agree with some of you other points Design wise at this moment in time,I doubt ANY phone can take on the HTC 1 pound for pound That phone is EYE CANDY personified to say the least Yet its price entry is VERY STEEP,VERY VERY And to think the TOTAL S3 cost if production was $244 while the S2 was $241 only for them to retail at 6 figures when they first hit our shores Yeah they (top phone brands) do R and D, have a huge marketing budget (esp Apple and Samsung), pay taxes etc But they do have very high profit margins though not as killing as Apple who though bring very quality products out,OVERCHARGE for their innovativeness And to think they tag it CAPITALISM  Zopo, Jiayu and co might not be up there with innovation but they offer many a person, readily available WELL MADE ALTERNATIVES Something which the big brands do by giving you watered down versions of their flagships  That`s why you see an Apple gearing up to flood developing nations lower spec and cheaper Apple products soon Recall this is what made Samsung so successful, different products for different economic strata of society Yet I`d buy a Jiayu S1 or G6 over a blazing new Galaxy S4 mini knowing its specs blows the mini out of the water and its Antutu scores is not too far from the new shiny S4 and other flagships I agree the power of today`s hardware can be better utilised by a better designed Andriod yet brand names started the making of such powerful gadgets However from personal usage,2GB of ram is the MINIMUM you require to run Andriod JB My LG Optimus 4X HD which came with ICS and 1GB RAM lags at times seeing I flashed it to the official JB 4.12 although the JB ROM brought tons of improvements One must not however not forget many a official ROM contains bloatware unlike lean mean alternate ROMS led by Cyanomodgen etal Ubuntu mobile seems an interesting development so let's see how it pans out Yet I still do not get how embedded devices we use today are so resource hungry as 256MB ran a Windows XP system disabled of intense graphics not to talk of Linux from which Andriod was spawned  Non the less, I tend to opt for high end devices [even if alternates like Pipo, Jiayu, Zopo etc] due to Andriod's notorious fragmentation due to their continues lack of support for many models Imagine HTC One X which launched on ICS stopping official support such that JB 4.2.2 is not coming to one of 2012's flagships Is that not crazy Thankfully, it should see custom ROMs which would help elongate its lifespan unlike if it was llike a Samsung Galaxy Star or even the S1  Lest I forgot, the Jiayu's battery for its coming S1 and G6 are monstrous Depending on usage that's 1-3 days usage which is great Or don't you see too many smartphone users e.g. you too, tagging their chargers along this days?  |

Dr. Dre:I'm already doing my research on the G6 and S1 which thankfully I discovered through this thread Even at that, one should refrain from been with the first 2-3 waves of people to adopt the new technology when they drop This is due to the price you pay to get the latest and best Also most of the bugs would have been discovered and fixed by then A point in example is the S3 which cost 88k in Febuary but now 62-67 in most mobile phone shops (I no mention last year O!) Yet its still one of the best phones to buy which gives great value even though S4 is now out This latest and best thing is just outright silly for there is no quantum leap in design, spec sheets nor software so much so that this top Chinese brands may not YET be as cutting edge like an HTC,Sony,Apple,LG nor Samsung yet they give them a very good and close fight That apart,one can wait for some months to tag on name brands as their price would have eroded The Super glue thing is important O! To think $2500 can get you a clean 2008 sedan or 2002-2003 jeep from Nigerian Customs automobile auction yet some one would invest that to buy roughly 3 top end latest and best phones is not wisdom Even if na fixed deposit that money dey,e make more sense knowing that not too long a time ago the Nokia communicator and Blackberrys were the phones to flauntWhere them dey now  |

biz2get: Lol I just went true this threadThe E3 waters down the specs with its 1800 mAH ba3 The E6 which is yet to ship has very respectable specs but I wudda loved to see a higher capacity ba3 than the 2000+ its said to come with Except they have exceptional ba3 life management which Jiayu are renowned for s3nn2x: I have waited for Peachie's review, but it seems like she has forgotten that such a thread ever existed.Yep the G4 seems more bang for your buck esp the 2G ram version Though you could go for the Zopo C2 and flash a JB ROM over the default Aliyun OS if you are short cash wise Personally I'd go for the G4 only that its specs is almost at par with my current phone i.e. an Optimus 4x HD (yeah its got 2gb ram and gorilla glass 2 but lacks NFC which mine has) Also I'm looking for a phablet which G4 isn't Zopo 950 fits that bill but with no Gorrilla glass, 4G ,NFC it doesn't sway me like say LG's G2,Sony's Ultra Z However seeing their $700 northwards pricing for JUST A PHONE (smart or not),my wallet is super glued against such expenses for now  One might actually have to wait till next year's first quarter for prices of an LG( especially),plasticky Samsung , Sony to drop to more reasonable levels or the likes of Zopo ,Jiayu and 'em other Chinese to up their game with the newer technology I mentioned earlier before my wallet`s super glue wears off |

I agree with the OP that the Nigerian people need to take our politicians and political system to task A revolution of sorts But through the same military who contributed about 65-75% of the deprivation I don't think so If we had a patriotic military like Thailand's, maybe but our ethnic and religiously polarised Armed Forces Hell No. |

While the world follows news of Nelson Mandela's latest hospital admission the third since December,I think its time to start saying our goodbyes to him no matter how long he's dragged it I for one do not believe he'll come out alive this time around Why? Jacob Zuma addressed the nation on Sunday night with a backdrop of past and dead ANC leaders as he spoke The White house released a statement about Mandela to South Africans (something not done on the previous 2 occasions) However other pointers have been showing up The flurry of visits from family members, past associates,religious leaders etc The news that he's now on life support Zuma's cancellation of his trip to Mozambique It all points to one thing,Mandela's long goodbye will soon be over So what would you remember him for? |

Thank you Lakehay for nailing it with this post I doubt if Edith Wilson or any of the admissions staff could have done better I've been following this thread from late last year and this ranks as one of the best posts from a contributor to this thread That ain't no flattery like those who once had no shoes If I do decide to pick Sunderland,you really helped too as news about the Uni that I've read is usually mixed Yes I do know the North East is cold as in the rest of UK that's why I shunned Scotland in my choice but tilted to the Northeast as its one of the most welcoming places for students It was when I started observing UK weather that I saw places like Germany and Sweden (which I used to think were colder) are warmer than the UK Its an island after all Relieved though I didn't resume in January seeing its best to enter in summer and acclimatize as the winter rolls in Since omo 9ja and peoples from areas traditionally with no winter temp dey there,I go overcome Also Sunderland's Uni accommodation seems fair as the diff with self arranged accommodation is not to steep I recall doing a virtual tour some time back but I want boots on the ground before making any financial commitments whether there or any other school Your post was really helpful,keep it up seeing you posted so late into the night Any other questions would be communicated in the days ahead One thing though, is Nigerian foodstuffs readily available in the North East? I came across the Chinese tablets whilst searching for info on Nexus 7 specifically the Ainol Novo 7 Venus (quad core and 1GB memory) which is been marketed as a Google 7 Nexus alternative Since my last tablet was Creative Ziio`s 7 and I longer for something bigger,I started looking at the Ainol Novo Spark ,a 9.7 inch tab with Retina display and quad core functionality It was then I contacted balogunsam very early in June as I had been reading his prior conversions with people since last year November and he seemed the real deal which he`s now proven to be He gave me a quote and I told him to let me read up reviews on the Novo Spark before commiting to a purchase It was during my reading up online that I came across the Pipo Max as a better even if slightly more expensive product The Spark is an A7 Quad while the Pipo Max is an A9 Quad BIG DIFFERENCE!, do please research using Google One thing to note,when buying gadgets,if you can't afford the shinest and the best,stretch yourself to get something that has high end specs so as to continue recieving official updates or have alternate developers software versions (xDA ,Cynamodgen etc) which your device can run especially when official updates are stopped That is one of the reasons I dislike Techno,Itel and all those 'Androids' with no official updates For example,this is a good time to purchase the S3 if you couldn't afford it when it came out The price has almost halved yet the specs are very powerful even for a 2012 phone and it will run software many new phones might be laggy with Remember,hardware specs aid phone, tablet, laptop, computing abilities I cannot reiterate this enough |

Okay folks, my Pipo Max M9 3G review continues Question: WHY DID I BUY A CHINESE TABLET? Initially my choices in order of preference were 1)Nexus 7 tablet 2)Samsung Note8 3)Samsung Tab2 10.1 4)Asus Memo pad 5)Nexus 10 Tablet 6)IPad mini or IPad 4 I jettisoned no 2 and later no 6 because of cost.No 2 especially was outrageous I.e. 80k plus for a WiFi only tablet (the cellular version is now out) whilst no 6 though hip is built on ageing tech compared to other top brands.No 1, 4 and 5 gave way due to not been readily available in Nigeria. 4 however is a newer product ,its even quad core but a very budget product. In hindsight, not buying 1 or 4 seems right even both are quad core. My Pipo Max thrashes them in the Antutu benchmark whilst their quad core processor is an older Tegra 40nm chip I got a very bargain offer (53k) for a brand new Sammy Tab 2.0 10.1 I.e. no 3 but I held back as its specs are ageing Also it a dual core product albeit built on a stable SoC |

How affordable is this 2 in 1 tablet? Won't I regret buying it seeing Sammy might bring out another variant when lauching the Note3 Are buyers of the S4 not feeling cheated seeing an S4 variant with faster LTE launching in under 3months of their S4 purchase?
