furrr:Aboki Lagos is smallest in land mass but most developed, it's not about landmass , there are high rate of poverty, illitracy, unemployment begger in Kano, Ebonyi state generate more money than Kano, showing flyovers built with ND money doesn't change the facts that your leaders are colossal failure, you guys have held political power for more than four decades and till today , looted the country dry and this is what you can boast of you are not ashame of your tribe? Poverty, religious extremism, terrorists, born troway, highest in consumtion of illicit drugs and mass illitracy are rutted in your region, can you compare industralization in Anambra and Abia to any northern states? Number of candidates one state in southeast produce every year in WAEC and JAMB covers 19 northern states, and your leaders are credible Onukwu! |
“What I will do about this incident is that first, I will set up a committee with the assistance of the Obi of Onitsha to look into the incident and establish the number of families affected by the fire. "Preliminary reports show that 15 families were displaced. But we must find out who they are. "Anambra State government will assist the displaced families to pick up the pieces of their lives. We shall resettle them in other houses in this neighbourhood again. We shall pay their rent for one year to get them started. "About 8pm yesterday (Wednesday), when I was about to go into the Governors’ Forum in Abuja, I was informed that there were fire incidents in five different locations in Anambra State. "I was very worried that five fire incidents were going on almost at the same time in one state. They started between 7 and 8.30pm. The Fire Service in the state has 12 trucks but as at yesterday only 8 were in good working condition. They spread themselves in five locations. One from Okpoko and another one from Main Market came here almost 30 minutes after the fire started and began to fight the fire here before I called for the support of the Fire Station on the Bridgehead in Delta State because I was worried by the tone of the alarm that was raised.” “From the way they sounded, I didn’t know that I would meet one building standing here. They told me that the whole of this place was on fire and that very soon it would get to DMGS. So, I called for assistance from the Fire Service in Delta and I am very happy that they responded. "We thank God that we did not lose any life in all the five fire incidents."

Africonji:Bitter people trying their best to paint emerging economic hub black However, the WHO also said on Wednesday that the pollution data from Onitsha was not necessarily reliable because it came from a single monitoring station. “It is difficult to get accurate measurements in Africa. You can get super-high readings, but ideally the measurements should be done over a year to include different seasons and times of day. The reading in Onitsha may be representative but not altogether reliable,” said a WHO spokeswoman Onitsha

AlhajiSpray:But people did not expect Onitsha in Anambra state on the eastern bank of the mile-wide river Niger, to be named the most polluted in the world. According to the WHO, an air quality monitor there registered 594 micrograms per cubic metre of microscopic PM10 particles, and 66 of the more deadly PM2.5s. Onitsha’s figures are nearly twice as bad as notoriously polluted cities such as Kabul, Beijing and Tehran and 30 times worse than London. “We know pollution is very bad here. But this city must be much better than Lagos, a sceptical Anambra state official, on Wednesday. How a giant air freshener could save our polluted cities Read more But Onitsha, say academics, is a textbook example of the perils of rapid urbanisation without planning or public services creating a sustained pollution assault on its water and air. As a tropical port city which has doubled in size to over 1 million people in just a few years, it is frequently shrouded in plumes of black diesel smoke from old ships; it has no proper waste incineration plants; its construction sites and workshops emit clouds of dust and its heavy traffic is some of the worst in Nigeria. However, the WHO also said on Wednesday that the pollution data from Onitsha was not necessarily reliable because it came from a single monitoring station. “It is difficult to get accurate measurements in Africa. You can get super-high readings, but ideally the measurements should be done over a year to include different seasons and times of day. The reading in Onitsha may be representative but not altogether reliable,” said a WHO spokeswoman. Zabol: highest for PM2.5s Zabol, an eastern Iranian city on the border with Afghanistan, was once at the heart of a bustling ancient civilisation, close to where the very first piece of animation came from in the form of an intricate pottery bowl dating back 5,000 years that displays a goat in motion. But the city is now a largely neglected area plagued by poverty - and pollution. Every summer, as temperatures rise to staggering levels of 40C or even higher, Zabol is struck by what is locally known as “120 days of wind”, relentless dust storms from north to south. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2016/may/12/which-are-the-worlds-two-most-polluted-cities-and-why

Today (10/02/17), His Excellency, Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state will officially commission the 1st Phase of the Lynden Integrated Farms Ltd mechanised poultry project at Igbariam. Anambra state signed the MOU for this project with Lynden Farms just a year ago. There are currently 380,000 chics at the farm which is set to meet the poultry needs of not only Ndi Anambra but the rest of the South East upon full project activation. The opportunities that abound in the value chain of this project is immense for e.g. jobs for local people, contribution to the local Igbariam and sorrounding towns economy, IGR for the state, guaranteed supply of fresh and healthy poultry products to markets and retail chains such as Roban stores that are springing up in Anambra state, inputs supply, export, logistics, distribution and storage opportunities etc. Without the vision of the governor, the provision of adequate security, infrastructure, creation of the right enabling environment in the state, dismantling of investment entry bottlenecks, the setting up of Anambra state investment one- stop shop (ANSIPPA) and the tenacity of the 3 musketeers, proud sons of Ndi Anambra who heeded the Governor's call to come home and invest (Akuluouno), this project wouldn't have seen the light of day. This goes to show that if Ndigbo work together, we can achieve the goal of creating a vibrant regional economy in Nigeria. After all, we have been to Lagos, Abuja, PH, Kano, Kaduna etc and excelled. We can also excell back home. I am indeed proud of this project having followed the dogged process from day one. Despite the mischief and false alarm of nay sayers, Anambra state has got this one in the bag. I am privy to the ambitious plans of the promoters of this project, by the time phase 2,3 etc come alive, we would be wondering if indeed such magic was possible in Anambra. Kudos to Governor Willie Obiano for standing the beacon of hope for Anambra and Igbo renaissance. Kudos to the trio of Clem Nwogbo, Chike Okonkwo and Dozie Mbanefo for believing in their home state and putting their money where there mouth and hearts are, Kudos to the guys at ANSIPPA that put this deal together. Kudos to the hardworking Commissioner for Agriculture Afam Mbanefo and his team for being part of this and finally kudos to Ndi Anambra and everyone associated with this project. Like I always say, where we are going is nowhere near where we are coming from. Our best is yet to come. Join us at Igbariam today by 12 noon if you can. God bless Anambra state, the light of the nation.
