The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani
Usman, said on Tuesday that troops had arrested a
financier of the Boko Haram insurgents in Borno State.
Usman said in a statement that that the man, identified as
Mohammed Maina, was arrested in Bama with N1m cash
on him.
He said that the suspect was also a supplier of kola nuts
and other stimulants to the insurgents.
The Army spokesman said that the suspect, a native of
Shuari Village in Bama Local Government Area, might
have been collecting monetary contributions from Boko
Haram sympathisers along the Maiduguri-Dikwa-Kulli axis
of the state.
“In a related development, troops have also intercepted
and arrested a suspected Boko Haram financier and
stimulants dealer, Mohammed Maina, in Bama, Bama
Local Government Area of Borno State.
“The suspect, a native of Ngurosoye, came from Shuari
village in Bama LGA, and he was arrested with the sum of
N1m cash and some items.
“Investigation revealed that Mohammed supplies them
kola nuts and other items especially stimulants. He
further revealed that kola nuts are in high demand
among the terrorists, as the product keeps them active at
night.
“It is apparent also that he plies Maiduguri-Dikwa-Kulli
axis where he gathers monetary and other material
contributions from Boko Haram sympathisers along that
axis and send same to the terrorists camps,” the
statement read in part.
Usman stated also that the soldiers of the 112 Battalion
and some Special Forces carried out a joint raid on Boko
Haram’s camps at Bulungwa Naibe in Dikwa Local
Government Area of Borno State on Monday and
recovered some items from them.
He stated also that several of the insurgents were killed in
the operation.
He said that the items recovered from them included
“one Buffalo vehicle mounted with an anti-aircraft gun, a
rocket-propelled grenade, two machine guns and one
sub-machine gun, five AK-47, one Fabrique nationale rifle
and two sewing machines used for sewing uniforms by
the terrorists.”
Usman also said that soldiers had arrested three
suspected collaborators of the Boko Haram insurgents
following the arrest of Maina.
Usman said that Maina had been making useful
statements which led to the arrest of the three suspected
collaborators in Maiduguri.
He gave the names of those arrested as Jikana Alhaji
Goni, 29, Alhaji Musa Modu, 37, and Alhaji Aba’ana Na
Sule, aged 40, all of Hausari Ward, Maiduguri.
He said that those arrested were being interrogated by
the military.
He said, “Please recall that a Boko Haram financier, fund
raiser and stimulant supplier, Mohammed Maina, was
arrested by troops of 21 Brigade yesterday.”
Meanwhile, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-
Gambari, on Tuesday urged security agencies and the
Federal Government to smoke out all identified
sponsors of Boko Haram insurgency in the country.
Noting that terrorists had wrecked havoc in the country,
he said he was hopeful that terrorism would soon come
to an end as soon as the sponsors were identified.
He spoke in an interview with members of the
Correspondent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists
in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The Emir also advised President Muhammadu Buhari not
to discard the report of the 2014 National Conference.
He urged Buhari to begin the process of implementing
the 2014 National Conference report and to restructure
the country.
Sulu-Gambari, who was a member of the confab, said
Nigeria needed restructuring to accelerate its growth.
He urged Buhari to pass the report as a bill to the
National Assembly so that it would form part of the
nation’s constitution and law.
He said, “The law is made for the people and people are
not made for the law. The Nigerian people have gathered
for a purpose and the people have spoken through their
representatives. So, the parliament would have to
endorse it for necessary criteria that had been drawn up
in the constitution.
“Having done that, it will now be passed as a bill and the
people of Nigeria can now say they have given unto
themselves a constitution. The one given to us by the
military was not by the people of this country.
“The military only gave us that one to guide and rule us.
Men are not supposed to be made for the law, but rather,
laws are supposed to be made for man. Men should be
supreme.
“The constitution is the highest norm or law in the land
so that whatever may happen since we are still in the
period of restructuring, probably the document gathered
during the confab should be looked into as part of
documents for restructuring. I believe it should not be
thrown into the dustbin.”
The Emir urged journalists to be socially responsible at
every critical moment in their reportage. He added that
they should through their reportage protect the
corporate existence of Nigeria, and avoid any report that
could undermine the corporate existence of the country.
He also said he was excited that the Senate President, Dr.
Bukola Saraki, is from Kwara State. He added that Saraki
will render quality service for national growth and unity.
He said, “We have gone far enough as a country. And we
should see anything that happens as part of happenings
of something in the embryo or still growing because we
are still growing with a lot to learn from our mistakes. We
should not stop existing as a country.
“Your job should be tailored towards securing peace and
harmony in the country, alongside other responsibilities
of educating, informing and entertaining people. Without
peace, you cannot do all these. We pray God to continue
to give us peace and put an end to Boko Haram attacks in
the country.”

Residents of Abesan Estate in the Ipaja area of Lagos State have been thrown into confusion after a man, Nelson Oamen, stabbed his father, Ehiremen Oamen, to death during an altercation. PUNCH Metro gathered that Nelson, who reportedly fled his father’s apartment in Block 272, after the incident on Friday, removed the septuagenarian’s heart and left with it. Our correspondent learnt that the Oamens, who hailed from Edo State, had been living in the estate for over 15 years. It was gathered that the father, said to be a retired worker in a company in Apapa, was battling with stroke, and usually remained indoors. PUNCH Metro learnt that 34-year-old Nelson, who did not have a stable job, was reportedly a drug addict, and had had violent clashes with people in the area which were reported to the police. Our correspondent learnt that at about 2pm on Friday, Nelson had gone to his father’s apartment and an argument had ensued between the two. Nelson, who was suspected to be high on drugs, allegedly stabbed his father to death in his bedroom, and covered his body with a blanket. He was said to have sneaked out of the house and had yet to be found. Nelson’s younger sister, who did not want her name in print, reportedly came into the house a few minutes later, and found traces of blood in the family’s sitting room. She was said to have discovered Ehiremen’s corpse on his bed, after which she raised the alarm. It was gathered that some neighbours and residents, who also rushed to the room to see Ehiremen, realised that there was a deep hole on the left side of his chest after he had been stabbed in several places. It was said that Nelson allegedly escaped with his father’s heart, which the residents claimed, was responsible for the bloodstains in the sitting room. Our correspondent gathered that the matter was reported at the Ipaja Police Division. When PUNCH Metro visited the area on Saturday, a crowd of sympathisers was observed thronging the deceased’s apartment. Nelson’s elder sister, who came from Abeokuta, Ogun State, and also did not want her name in print, said the family could not say what caused the argument between her father and Nelson. She added that Ehiremen had been physically attacked by Nelson in the past. She said, “For about five years now, dad had been nursing a stroke, and he could not work again. So, he used to stay at home. Nelson did not have a stable location. He just came to the area on Friday. “I was told that he came in through the window before committing the act. It was his younger sister, who has a shop in the area, and came in a few minutes later to change her clothes, who first observed bloodstains in the sitting room. “She then traced the bloodstains to daddy’s room, and found out that he had been killed. We have not seen any sign of Nelson since then.” A landlord in the area, Akeem Salau, who described the deceased as an easy-going man, said he was praying in the mosque at about 2pm, when the news of Ehiremen’s death filtered in. He said, “The man has eight children. Nelson is the fourth child. The young man does not have any stable job. He also smokes and drinks heavily. He does not live here, but only comes once in a while. “On that Friday, some people saw him in the afternoon. The people who saw him said he was unstable. He went into their house, and it was a few minutes later that they found the father dead. He fled immediately. When I went in to see the corpse, I observed that the old man was stabbed in several places. No one could have been so wicked except one was on drugs.” Our correspondent gathered that the police in Ipaja had launched a manhunt for Nelson. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joe Offor, said the police were on the trail of Nelson and would soon get him. The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party
has refused to hang the official portrait of President
Muhammadu Buhari at the party’s national secretariat,
checks by The PUNCH have revealed.
Over 100 days after the President assumed office, the
PDP has yet to hang his portrait at any of the offices in its
Wadata House national secretariat, located at Zone 5,
Abuja.
The party has also said it would never put Buhari’s
portraits on its walls though it has removed that of the
former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, who ruled on
the platform of the PDP.
“We will never hang his portrait in this office, because
President Buhari is not known to our party. He is not a
leader of our party and therefore we will never put his
portrait here. We are a political party, very partisan and
therefore, we are not going to hide that,” National
Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh, told our
correspondent on the telephone on Tuesday.
Jonathan was also the presidential candidate of the
former ruling party during the last general election but
he was defeated by Buhari, who was the presidential
candidate of the opposition All Progressives Congress.
The defeat was the first to be suffered by the PDP since
the return of democracy in 1999.
Before now, the party has always been hanging the
portraits of all the Presidents at the party’s reception area
as well as the National Executive Committee and National
Working Committee halls within the secretariat.
Metuh said the APC also did not hang the portrait of
Jonthan in its offices before the former President was
defeated in the March 28 election.
“Can you find out if the APC had the portrait of former
President Jonathan in their office before he was
defeated? That is just it,” he told our correspondent.
When asked whether the party was taking its own pound
of flesh, Metuh said no but that since Buhari “is not a
member of our party, we won’t put his portrait here.”
The APC National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Lai
Mohammed, expressed shock at Metuh’s comment.
“This is ridiculous and we have no comment. Let
Nigerians judge the PDP on this matter,” Mohammed
said.
He said the PDP spokesman had a shallow understanding
of the concept of opposition politics.
Meanwhile, work has stopped at the new secretariat of
the PDP, located in the Central Business District, Abuja.
Investigations by our correspondent indicated that
contractors handling the project were only doing skeletal
jobs at the site.
When our correspondent visited the site on Tuesday,
there was no visible job being done at the site.
It was gathered that the cost of the project was put at
N11.5bn when it was awarded some years ago. At
completion, the building is expected to have 12 floors,
with two other floors serving as the car park.
The party had claimed that the project was being
financed from levies and contributions from members.
When a fund-raising dinner was organised a few years
ago, the party was able to realise about N5bn, and the
project, which started more than four years ago, was to
be delivered in 126 weeks.
The former National Chairman of the party, under whose
leadership the project commenced, Prince Vincent
Ogbulafor, had then said that the complex, when
completed, would strengthen the capacity of the PDP to
discharge its role effectively in Africa.
The party had claimed on January 5, 2015 that it was
going to spend part of the N21.8bn it realised from the
party’s fund-raising on the party’s secretariat.
A former Minister for Information and the Chairman of
the party’s Fund-raising Committee, Prof. Jerry Gana, had
said the money donated to the PDP was not meant for
the campaign of the defeated Jonathan alone.

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress,
Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has distanced himself from the
recent attacks against former Governor Babatunde
Fashola of Lagos State.
Tinubu added that the attacks were being sponsored by
the Peoples Democratic Party.
Tinubu, who is a former governor of Lagos State, said this
in a statement issued by his media office on Wednesday.
Fashola, according to a report on the state government’s
website, spent N78.3m on his personal website,
www.tundefashola.com and N139m to construct two
boreholes at the Lagos House, Ikeja, when he was
governor.
There had been speculations that the reports were being
sponsored by Tinubu as part of efforts to discredit him
and deny him the opportunity of being appointed a
minister by President Muhammadu Buhari.
However, Tinubu said the allegations against him
(Tinubu), were the handiworks of mischief makers
sponsored by the PDP.
The statement partly read, “The PDP is just recently out
of office at the federal level and it built a vast,
unprecedented financial war chest to contest the
elections. The residual of that war chest is still at work,
buying media space to plant rumours in hopes of
spreading discord through the APC.
“Thus, the enemy camp may be a minority but it is a large
and well-funded one that knows it only chance lies in us
attacking ourselves.”
The APC leader said he had nothing against his successor,
Fashola. He said Fashola served the state meritoriously
for eight years.
He, therefore, condemned those calling for Fashola’s
probe.
He said any criticism of Fashola was an indictment on
him because he was instrumental to making Fashola
governor.
He said, “Our political opponents now try to steal victory
when their only entitlement is resounding defeat. Having
fared woefully with the electorate, their game plan is to
sow discord within the ranks of the party the people had
chosen to lead them. The PDP hopes to strike a division
in the APC, in that way weakening us and our ability to
govern.
“This brings me to recent developments in the Lagos
political scene. Born of this motley stew is the recent
gossip mongering that I have wilfully instigated false and
negative reports against former Governor Fashola to
thwart him from being appointed to a major post in the
Buhari administration.
“I want to declare clearly and categorically that these
rancid attacks do not come from me nor do I endorse
them. Neither my hand nor my heart is in these mean
submissions. I deplore them.
“An attack against the performance of Governor Fashola
is indirectly an attack against me and the edifice of
achievements we have constructed in leading Lagos State
out of a protracted time of stagnation and into an era of
sustained progress and development.”
He said he and Fashola will forever remain close because
they had struggled together.
He said having ensured that his party retained Lagos for
over 16 years, it would be unwise of him to pull down
what he helped build.
He added, “I for one will not bend to the artificial
provocation of those seeking to tear at what we have
painstakingly built over the years. In my mind, Governor
Fashola and I alliance is unshakeable and our journey
must not be interrupted. I would no more attack his
character or his administration than I would attack
myself.” |
The Chief Matron, Lagos State House of Assembly, Mrs.
Caroline Oriola, has reportedly died in her office within
the assembly premises.
It was gathered that Oriola had gone to the office on
Saturday, August 22, but that her corpse was discovered
yesterday by a cleaner, who had gone to clean the clinic.
Sources in the assembly revealed that the woman had
gone to her office on Saturday to take some drugs and
was said to have put on the air conditioning unit in the
office and locked the door.
It was gathered that the security men on duty were
oblivious of the incident though the woman signed in
before she picked the keys to the clinic, being a weekend.
A visit to the House revealed a sad atmosphere as the
place was calm and some of the staff of the assembly
were seen discussing her death in groups.
A source said: “It is, indeed, sad news. Nobody expected
that she would die when she did. We were told that she
was in the clinic to pick some drugs only for her dead
body to be found on the floor by a cleaner.”
Another source disclosed that Oriola’s husband, who had
waited endlessly for her to return home that Saturday,
had gone to check on her at the Assembly, but could not
find her car in the car park, adding that he was unaware
that she parked at the lawmakers’ car park in the
assembly.
The body of the deceased was later conveyed to the
morgue in the early hours of yesterday in the assembly’s
ambulance, accompanied by some staff of the House, led
by the Clerk, Mr. Segun Abiru.
Mr. Musibau Rasak, Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker,
Mr. Mubashiru Obasa, who confirmed the report,
expressed the condolence of the Speaker to the bereaved
family and friends.
He prayed to God to grant the soul of the departed
eternal rest. |
For allegedly being discriminated against, a 23-year-old albino, Ugochukwu Ekwe on Sunday committed suicide in the Festac area of Lagos State. The incident occurred at 311 Road, B Close, after the deceased’s parents went to church. It was alleged that the deceased had attempted suicide last month after complaining of the discrimination he suffered from people as a result of his pigmentation. He was said to have been rescued by a friend who arrived early enough, but he succeeded on Sunday after refusing to follow his parents to church, it was learnt. A source in the neighbourhood told The Nation that his parents discovered his body hanging on the ceiling fan when they returned from church. He said: “On arrival from church, his parents were shocked to discover the body of their son hanging from the ceiling fan in one of the apartments. “One of his siblings was said to have raised alarm which attracted curious neighbours. “I was returning from church when I saw people gathered in front of the block of flats. When I enquired, I was told that Ugochukwu had committed suicide. “He finished his secondary school education since 2009. I also learned he had threatened to take his life, saying he was frustrated.” “Later, we saw some policemen from Festac division who removed the body.” When contacted, spokesperson for the police command, DSP Patricia Amadin said she was yet to get details from the Area ‘E’ Commander, Frank Mba. http://thenationonlineng.net/albino-commits-suicide-over-alleged-discrimination/ |
The Federal Government has been monitoring the social
media accounts of Nigerians who are suspected of
having links with various terrorist groups, including Boko
Haram and the Islamic State of Syria and Iraq, findings by
SUNDAY PUNCH have shown.
Our correspondent learnt that through covert
operations, which have been going on for a while,
security agencies hack into the Facebook and Twitter
accounts of those they are monitoring.
The move, it was learnt, was meant to frustrate terrorist
attacks on the country.
The project, which is costing the country millions of
dollars, is being managed by the Office of the National
Security Adviser.
Multiple sources, who spoke to our correspondent on
condition of anonymity because they were not
authorised to inform the press about the security checks,
stated that the administration of former President
Goodluck Jonathan approved the request by security
agencies to spy on targeted sections of the population,
mainly religious extremists and radicalised individuals.
It was gathered that the project is being coordinated by
some foreign firms, including an Israeli firm, Elbit
System.
Our correspondent learnt that the local espionage
involves hacking of phones, email accounts, social media
accounts and bugging of telephone conversations of
persons of interest.
A source said, “The surveillance system is not being used
to target everyone, as people may want to believe. It is
only deployed to get intelligence on specific targets
because it would be hard and difficult to use such system
to spy on all Nigerians; the amount of data would be too
huge and staggering for the assessors to sort and
manage.
“Basically, the system is used to hack into emails and
phones of targets, and the targets are those who are
suspected of having ties with terrorists, whether Boko
Haram, ISIS or any other criminal element.”
It was also learnt that the system had greatly assisted
security agencies to nip in the bud and also frustrate
many terror plots and attacks across the country.
The security agencies had been using electronic trackers,
which they were used to track and apprehend
kidnappers.
But it was learnt that the electronic surveillance system is
more effective and has better capacities to hack emails,
passwords and social media accounts used by terrorists
to recruit members.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Ojukwu,
confirmed that security agencies were using a
sophisticated surveillance system as part of measures to
combat crime and terrorism in the country.
He said, “It is not a new technology. Everywhere in the
world, it is used, including drones and other
sophisticated equipment. Nigeria is part of the
international community; we have our surveillance
system, which shows that Nigeria is developing.”
Ojukwu said the security agencies respect the rights of
Nigerians and were not using the system to hack the
phones and computers of innocent Nigerians.
The Department of State Services could not be reached
for information on their use of the surveillance system. |

The United States of America has vowed to pressure Nigeria until she accept to legalize g*y marriage. > The God’s Own country, as she is fondly called recently legalized g*y marriage in all her 50 states, a move that sparked global outrage. Linda Thomas Greenfield, the US a$$istant Secretary of State for African Affairs told journalists via a live web chat yesterday that America would continue to mount pressure on Nigeria and other countries to reverse their anti-g*y laws. In her words: “As a government, it is one of the highest priorities and strongest values that discrimination against anyone based on their $exual orientation and gender identity is wrong. We believe human rights should be available to everybody. “As a policy, we will continue to press the government of Nigeria as well as other governments who have provided legislation that discriminate against the LGBT community.” “This is very much a work in progress, but I think you will agree with me that the law in Nigeria really went far in discriminating against this community but also people who a$$ociate with them. “So we will continue to press the government, to press the legislature to change these laws and provide human rights for all Nigerian people regardless of their $exual orientation.” “With what is happening in the US, you can determine how far we are willing to go. We strongly believe human rights for all people and we are particularly opposed to legislation that actually targets the g*y community for discrimination. So we are prepared to push this as a policy not just in Africa but across the world,”. |

The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Osun State, Mr. Jacob Adekomi, said on Tuesday that Governor Rauf Aregbesola had approved the payment of December 2014 salary for workers in the state. Adekomi, who said this at a press conference he addressed after a meeting with the government delegation, led by the Chief of Staff, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, added that the governor also approved the payment of the 30 per cent balance of November salaries of some workers who were yet to be paid in full. The NLC boss, however, said that workers would not suspend their strike action despite the payment of their one month salary out of seven months. The Head of Service, Mr. Sunday Owoeye, also confirmed that workers had started receiving bank alerts for the balance of November and December 2014 salaries. He said this in response to an inquiry earlier sent to him by our correspondent through text message. Owoeye’s text read, “They are already receiving alerts for the balance of November, and part of December, 2014. A journey of 1000km starts with one step. The man who removes a mountain starts by carrying stones away.” But Adekomi explained that most workers would not get anything from the one month salary paid because their banks would use the meagre money for loan repayment and interest. According to Adekomi, most workers will not have anything left to feed themselves, let alone transport themselves to their places of work. Because of this, he said the strike would continue. The NLC chairman said, “We appreciate the efforts of the government to see that salary and pension arrears are settled without further delay. Our negation with the government is that out of eight months owed us, the minimum we can take is five months to resume work. “As it is now, the strike continues while negotiations also continue. I appeal to all workers in the state to continue to stay at home until further notice. “This payment is as good as no payment, because all deductions must have been made by our various banks. Because of this, there won’t be money for us to transport ourselves to work and feed our families. “Until we have enough money to feed and take care of our transportation to work, we will not resume work. The strike continues.” The governor had on June 14 promised to pay workers’ salaries in a statement made available to our correspondent by his media aide, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon Most workers were being owed seven months’ salaries but the statement was silent on whether the governor would pay all outstanding salaries or he would pay a part. The statement read in part, “Before the end of June, workers would be paid their salaries.” The governor stated that he had a great dream for the state and that was why he was in a hurry to begin many programmes which had earned him applause even outside the country. He said further, “The dream has not gone awry and it is a clear vision that Osun must be on its feet, self-reliant and be a reference point in Nigeria. The race to ensure development within the first term of Aregbesola was informed by the fear of what is happening now.” |

The Rivers state commissioner for housing, Emma Okah , has dismissed the insinuation by former governor, Rotimi Amaechi, that Governor Nyesom Wike’s probe into his administration is as an attempt to witch hunt and ridicule his person. Amaechi had few days ago reacted to the a judicial commission of inquiry set up by Wike to probe his tenure as governor. He described the move as a fraudulent witch hunt of his administration. The commissioner said that there is nothing fraudulent or wrong to ask an administration that received and managed N3trillion on behalf of the Rivers state people to explain some of its actions that are suspected to be fraudulent. “The people have the right to know. The Nyesom Wike administration is merely protecting the people’s interest by inquiring into how public resources were wasted, stolen or misappropriated by the past administration and every lover of democracy and rule of law should not complain, blackmail the state government or divert attention from that,” he queried. Okah maintained that Amaechi should not be afraid of anything if he knows that his hands are clean saying that all he has to do is to come when invited by the commission of inquiry to explain his side of the story and present documents to backup his claims. He stated Wike’s government would not turn blind eyes to grave allegations of misappropriation of fund against Amaechi’s government. “Is it proper for Amaechi to sell off 70 per cent of the Rivers State Government’s interests in the state’s four power stations (Eleme, Omoku, Afam and Trans Amadi, Port Harcourt) at the cost of $302,400m and the entire money was withdrawn between December 2014 and April 2015 without any document of transaction or payment into any government account. “Who owns the Bureau de Change Company that received the money and who authorised the receipt and where is the money? “Is it a witch-hunt for Amaechi to pay out $39m to his cronies for the purpose of building the Karibi Whyte Mega Hospital and till today, not a single block is standing?” he asked. It will be recalled that Governor Wike had vowed to carry out a forensic audit of all government accounts once he was sworn-in as governor.

President Buhari says he met a virtually empty treasury when he assumed office. He said this while speaking with members of the state House correspondents in Aso Rock earlier today. "I hope we are starting and this culture developed, of 100 days is bringing so much pressure with treasury virtually empty, with debts in millions of dollars, with state workers and even federal workers not paid their salaries. It is such a disgrace for Nigeria. I think Nigeria should be in a position to even pay it’s workers. This bad management that we find ourselves in, we really need your help to protect us from people before they match on us” he said

Popular movie producer and former model Blessing Egbe has shared her opinion on Toke Makinwa marriage saga. The Lekki Wives producer, who is working on a new movie series called 'This Thing Called Marriage' says the storyline has nothing to do with Toke Makinwa. She also said the alleged busy lifestyle of the media personality is not enough reason for a man to cheat. What she said below... ‘I don’t know her personally and I don’t really know their story so I cannot talk much, I can’t even comment on it because I don’t know who the man was until I saw pictures of him. Obviously I read about it but all I can say is she is being strong about it which is good because some women would just break down and jump into third mainland bridge. I don’t really know them but I have heard so many people say that she was too busy for the man, that she is all over the place trying to make it but for me, is that enough for a man to cheat on his wife not only that but to get another girl pregnant? What this story just says is that he was calculating every move he made because you don’t sleep with a woman without condom if you are not thinking pregnancy. She was probably she was his girlfriend, he knew at some point and says to himself “I would have preferred this one” maybe that’s what happened but why did he marry Toke then? Did you marry her to make a name? Did you marry her so that people would know and recognize your brand? All this while you were receiving from one and returning to another? Mrs Egbe who gained national recognition with her movie, Two Brides and a Baby and critically acclaimed, Lekki Wives denies that her new movie series project, This Thing Called Love is about Toke. ‘It is not o, please we shot a part of it three to four weeks ago when fuel scarcity was on, but it is a series that would deal with issues like that, it would deal with issues relating to patience in marriage, to what to do, what not to do, the clashes that happen, the differences in people that are supposed to come as one, we are supposed to become one but for some reasons in the home we are two different people so this just goes to expand and showcase what everybody, every married couples really know, we just going to take it to another level and expose what people don’t share but we are able to really get close’ She told ICampus

Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State has expressed regret over his inability to pay salaries for months now. He however added that contrary to reports, he was not helpless about the unpaid salaries of civil servants in his state because he has Allah. Delivering a Ramadan Lecture at the Women Development Centre, Abuja, the governor used the occasion to debunk reports that he ever said he was ‘helpless’. He delivered a lecture titled : “Ramadan, Living in The Season of Positive Change”at the event organised by the Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society. Aregbesola said, “It is extremely painful that I cannot pay salary. It is painful that I have to be in this condition. “I am not helpless because I have Allah and the people with me. And whoever has Allah and the people has everything,” he said, assuring that he was making efforts to pay the outstanding salaries of the civil servants soon. He noted that the state borrowed up to N25 billion from banks to support the allocation from the federation account to pay workers salaries but the banks have refused to continue lending him money. He explained that the state’s wage bill was N3.5 billion monthly and his administration has found it difficult to pay in the face of dwindling allocation in spite of increase in the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from N900 million to N8 billion annually. “I didn’t envisage that 400,000 barrels of crude oil would be stolen daily. But the whipping boys must be the governors and I am the ‘Chief’ of the whipping boys,” Aregbesola said. He expressed delight with the re-emergence of Muhammadu Buhari as Nigeria’s leader. Also, the governor hailed the Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society which organized the event. Aregbesola said “terrorism is a challenge to Islam and it is the Muslims who will solve it”. He maintained that Islam does not support killing without judicial ruling. Some of the dignitaries at the lecture included Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Mohammed Lawal Uwais, wife of Nasarawa state governor, Mrs Mairo Al-makura, Senators Abubakar Sodangi and Khairat Gwadwabe as well as a former Minister of National Planning, Dr. Abubakar Suleiman and many more. Meantime, the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, in Osun State has described as insensitive and callous the statement credited to the ruling All Progressives Congress APC that workers in Osun state constitute less than one percent of the population. Speaking on behalf of the party Prince Diran Odeyemi, the Director, Media and Strategy said the APC has publicly shown to the world that it has lost focus and not responsive to the plight of Osun citizens. According to the party, “The APC arithmetic of 1% civil servant is a formular coined for them after the election forgetting that these hard working servants are financiers of over 90% of the populace in the state. |
