Certifications became very popular a while back in the IT field, where companies like Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, and others created certifications around their products. They needed a highly qualified and consistent-thinking implementation community in order to support their complex products. Becoming certified was not and still is not easy, and requires hard work and experience. Certifications, such as the PMP, have become popular and are similar, yet also different in some important ways, than technical certifications. They provide a framework for dealing with a certain common problem set, they challenging to earn, and they are clearly a skill. They provide a clear "skill" for the workplace. Education does not necessarily do that, although it provides great background that can help someone perform better. The certification provides employers with an indication of a minimum level of knowledge and achievement, and professionals with a distinguishing and proven minimum skill set. Answer B Explanation: Improving project performance (choice B) relates to completing the project sooner. Though it would always seem to be a good idea to improve schedule performance, this project’s performance is fine. The schedule has been approved as it is. It would be better for the project manager to spend more time controlling the project to make sure it finishes according to plan than to improve schedule performance. 1) The installation project has a SPI of 1.30 and a CPI of 1.0 there are 14 team members and each team member had input into the final project management plan. The customer has accepted the three deliverables produced so far without complaint and the responsibility assignment matrix has not changed since the project began. The project is being completed in a matrix environment and there are no contracts needed for the project Though the sponsor is happy with the status of the project, one team member is always complaining about how much time his project work is taking. Which of the following will be the best thing YOU to do? LISTEN You can make any organization anywhere in the world break or bend their graduate employment policy just for you, if they are convinced that you can deliver. The work is to impress it upon them that you will. By showing "demonstrated competencies" This you can do by capping your degree with a globally recognized certification. A friend of mine works with PWC with a 3rd class, he is a certified PMP and business analyst amongst others.wen the management of PWC were going to hire him they discovered his 3rd class but still hired but in this case as a contract staff.they paid him the same salary, benefits, entitlements etc.Why Because he was just too good!!! Yes you can make MTN or ZAIN or any oil company practically beg you no matter your age or class of degree if you can demonstrate competencies in a knowlege area relevant to their operations. It is a known fact today that in a time where companies in every industry are downsizing, project management actually faces a critical shortage of talent. "The demand for project managers is definitely growing," says Sheree Rulard, senior recruiting consultant for Beeline RPO, a workforce solutions firm with offices in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada. Two factors are to thank: a shift in demographics and a growth in global projects worldwide. A 2008 survey by the Anderson Economic Group shows that, economic woes aside, the number of global projects is expected to keep growing significantly. Global GDP in projectized industries is expected to increase by US$4.5 trillion by 2016. Between 2006 and 2016, the number of project-oriented employees will grow by an estimated 8.2 million. Who fills those positions is another matter. According to a 2008 survey by KPMG International, several industries have current talent shortage that project managers are in high demand; three-quarters of the survey respondents, CEOs and senior executives, reported that they were most worried about project managers. Discussion: Despite this critical shortage of project managers, experienced project managers with degrees from a university in a developing countries may have problems filling these positions because of non-recognition of such degrees. A way out of this challenge may be to cap your degrees with a world recognized professional certificate such as PMP.
