After Aguiyi Ironsi was killed in the Northern counter coup barely 6 months into his Military rule as Head of State, politicians sat down and decided to hand power over to North to pacify North not to exit Nigeria.. then the Northern elites back then settled for Yakubu Gowon to become Head of State at barely 31years of age (still the youngest ruler in Nigeria's history till date).
Ojukwu of course kicked against this move and refused to recognize the Federal Government under Gowon, instead was finalizing plans to exit Nigeria together with oil rich Niger Delta region including Port Harcourt (without the consent of Niger Deltans). The meeting at Aburi was to call Ojukwu to order and remind him that declaring biafra would amount to treason (as Nnamdi Azikiwe and his fellow Igbos had kicked against secession clause earlier, claiming Nigeria's unity was non-negotiable). Ojukwu still went ahead regardless to declare Biafra with hope that France and co. he promised crude oil would support him. Little did he know that there was more to world politics especially when oil is involved.

The Igbos started attacking Lagos first, infact Pen Cinema then was attacked with bomb killing Yorubas in large numbers.. As if it wasn't enough, Ojukwu ordered his biafran soldiers to march into Mid-West with the motive of taking over the region and subjecting it to Igbo rulership which they did. An Igbo Military officer was appointed President over what he (Ojukwu) later termed Republic of Benin (including present day Edo State and Delta State). It was after that "success" that the biafran soldiers marched further into South West hoping to take control as they did in the Mid West but met fierce resistance from gallant Yoruba soldiers at Ore in present day Ondo State where scores of the biafran troops were killed and they had no option than to retreat back into the Eastern region. That marked the beginning of the 3 long years civil war which Yorubas got involved in seeing all the moves of Ojukwu that he didn't have genuine intentions about secession. The rest is history.

The fact that a Niger-Deltan, a Southerner was made for the first time FCT-minister was just too hard for them to take. Also the Lagos-Calabar super highway project is a technical knock out for them. PBAT election was outrightly divine. God blinded their eyes to enthrone someone who will be bold enough, rich enough and polically strong enough to call the bluff of the north. God enthroned PBAT for the sake of the nation’s wellbeing because he cannot be dictated to by the north and he has no political godfather. He was not bankrolled by anyone and above all he is wealthy enough not to need Nigeria money nor cower to dangote for assistance. PBAT is old and has nothing else to live for than make a good name for himself which can only be achieved by a determined rebuilding of Nigeria.
Everyone feels the pinch including myself but it’s worth at this moment the pain. PBAT is the forerunner to Obi presidency. PBAT is building and nurturing a new set of political leaders for a united south. If Obi had come in at this time, it would have been completely premature. Even Obi has been politically advised to go round the country ahead of 2027 to make himself visible. 2027 will be a sucker punch for the north as PBAT is not interested in second term. The 4 years he has is enough for him to make the right impact and reposition this country on economic success, growth and global reckoning. If the next president from the south fritters away all these gains, the. we have ourselves to blame. The south is the strength of our national economy therefore the south must be strengthened while the insecurity in the north is resolved. Focusing at this time on the north that is at war with Boko haram will be a complete waste. Even Dangote will not risk focusing his investment in the north at this time. To get Nigeria out of economic crisis, 60% of effort must be on the south while 40% on the north. To ensure we have a secured country, 60% of security resources and votes must be on the north while 40% for the south.
We must remain united to make it out as a nation. We must pray for the success of the leadership not our leaders. Nigeria remain ours and we all must bear with it all as other nations have done in the past.

The godfather himself is President so no way any politician in North will pocket him. They know the dangers of toying with a man of Asiwaju's calibre. They know it will spell do0m for not just the North but the entire country.

They should go and wait till after 8 years when power will return to North.. For now, we are happy with the reforms and proactive steps taken so far by our amiable president.

North is a blessed region with mineral deposits, example is Zamfara with gold mines everywhere. Obi deserves to be cautioned so he won't keep portraying Northern Nigeria as beggars enclave.

I'm happy PBAT is living up to expectation with his economic reform policies that have started paying off.. the Northern elders turned Central Bank of Nigeria to their commercial bank umder Emefiele, something they can't try now under Cardoso. I learnt they have started sacking many of the workers from CBN and I'm pretty sure they are also affected.
The era of indiscipline in Governance and jamboree looting for Northerners from Government coffers is over.

As for the Igbos, let them continue to worship North because of votes, it's not the first time they would be doing it. An Igbo man with PhD once deputized a Fulani man named Shehu Shagari with lesser educational qualifications in this same Nigeria while Yorubas were in opposition.
