As a good student of history, I noticed Herbert Macaulay made a great mistake by handing leadership of a party Yoruba people built from scratch to Zik, a non-Yoruba.. Zik brought in his kinsmen and snatched the structure from Yorubas, even using the party that had its roots in Yorubaland against Yorubas.
This same scenario played out with APC, when they asked PBAT to give up the APC presidential party ticket for them to produce President.. unfortunately, PBAT wasn't Herbert Macaulay and he refused to heed their calls. You can see how they are running from party to party now, looking for any shortcut available to push their tribal candidate to Aso rock.

Yoruba leaders did us dirty a law should have been enacted in States like Lagos restricting non-indigenes from taking up public offices meant for Yorubas and other sub-groups in Lagos State. It's not tribalism but common sense.

Yorubas abeg we need to wake up.. it's not about today, but future narratives as this OP just did. How will next generation Yoruba feel being shortchanged in their ancestral lands when they have no access to politics in other regions.

Nigeria even needs to slow down on tax for now to encourage people to create opportunities for others. Nigeria can focus on VAT of pleasurable and leasure items for now, lower company income tax and very low personal income tax for the very wealthy. If u have strong purchasing power citizens, u can make a lot of money from VAT. Nigeria needs a way to stabilize her citizens to have strong income. Anything foolish taxation now is completely counter productive. Here is why: The guy making 25m per year surely have many responsibilities since the country has more and more poor people: he has parents to support, siblings to support, spouce to support, maybe friend here and there who need one support or the other often. Before u know it, u have spent a lot. Agberos alone who know u, they often ask u for one help or the other. So, it is crazy that these men think they can simply carry european style and inpose on a country like Nigeria that has peculiar challenges. I laugh at their tax stuff. Nigeria has housing crises. People need to earn more to build house. So, cut out any taxation tat makes house building hard. Start personal income tax at 70m income per year and make it lower. We need more houses, so, people need to be encouraged to build.
Nigeria may collapse with her population and hardship, it wont be funny.

I totally agree with you in the sense that we can't use European taxation style in an environment like Nigeria and expect positive results.

I am not really comfortable with the way foreign loans are handled by Nigerian politicians.. it's as if they embezzle the wealth within and still take loans to embezzle more. The newly appointed Ministers like Mr. Oyedele of Finance Ministry needs to understand that Government work is "soldier go, soldier come, barracks go still remain".
In 20 years from now, long after he must have exited Office, there will be someone to seat in that Office he is holding today and that person will push policies he/she feels is best for the economy of Nigeria at that point in time.

A good example is Malami, the former AGF who was behaving as if he was the law, where is he today?.
