Education / Re: Which City Has The Highest Number Of Universities In Nigeria? by fmsmartlinks: 12:50pm On Nov 21, 2023
IVORY2009:
The city with the highest number of universities in Nigeria is **Abeokuta** in Ogun State. Abeokuta has 8 universities, accounting for almost half (47%) of the total number of universities in the state. Here's a list of the universities in Abeokuta:

1. Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB)
2. Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU)
3. Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology (MAUSTECH)
4. Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED)
5. Crescent University (CU)
6. Babcock University (BU)
7. Mountain Top University (MTU)
8. McPherson University (MU)
9 Covenant University (CU)
Abeokuta's concentration of universities can be attributed to several factors, including its strategic location, historical significance, and conducive environment for academic pursuits. The city is well-connected to major transportation hubs, making it accessible to students from across the country. Additionally, Abeokuta's rich cultural heritage and relatively peaceful atmosphere contribute to its appeal as a university town.

The presence of numerous universities has had a significant impact on Abeokuta's economy and social fabric. The influx of students and faculty has boosted local businesses and fostered a vibrant intellectual community. The city has also benefited from the contributions of these institutions in terms of research, innovation, and community engagement.

Overall, Abeokuta's position as the city with the highest number of universities in Nigeria reflects its commitment to education and its role as a hub for academic excellence in the country.
