The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olugbenga Ashiru, on Tuesday said Nigerian Missions abroad would henceforth undertake reciprocal treatment regarding the issuance of visas. The minister said in maiden meeting with members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Nigeria that Nigeria would longer not tolerate the shabby treatment of its citizens by foreign missions that appeared to have developed a habit of frustrating Nigerians with genuine reasons to travel. Ashiru said it was no longer acceptable for missions in Nigeria to make Nigerians suffer just because they were seeking visas. “I wish to assure you of the readiness of Nigeria’s diplomatic missions to undertake reciprocal treatment. “Where visas are delivered promptly within three to five days, we shall reciprocate and where there is a delay, we shall apply the same measure. “I wish however to appeal to you to please help to lessen the burden of such complaints and requests for assistance on my office. “Certainly, where unnecessary delays are caused, it would be a negation of the principle of good relations between two countries. ” The minister also cautioned foreign diplomats against making unguarded utterances on Nigeria’s internal affairs. He expressed the hope that he would not be given any opportunity to summon any ambassador to his office for acts of “insensitivity” or lack of restraint. The minister also frowned at the practice by some diplomats who bye-passed the Foreign Ministry to deal directly with Nigerian ministries and departments. On Nigeria’s new foreign policy thrust, the minister said Nigeria under the leadership of President Goodluck Jonathan would intensify her advocacy against illicit trade in small arms and light weapons, which he said had become a catalyst for conflict in the African continent. ” Accordingly, Nigerian diplomatic missions abroad have been re-directed to accord this new emphasis the highest priority. He said “While upholding the democratic imperative and our leadership role in the continent, we would strive to re-define our foreign policy, and strengthen our diplomacy to support domestic programmes of government. ” Ashiru pointed out that poverty remained the single greatest enemy of democracy and must be tackled seriously.e caused, it would be a negation of the principle of good relations between two countries. ” The minister also cautioned foreign diplomats against making unguarded utterances on Nigeria’s internal affairs. Nigerians that have lived abroad for long, dont need Nigerian visa to visit home. Dual citizenship is allowed in our constitution. Stands to be corrected. Take a trip to any Nigerian High Commission and see things for your self. |
OAM4J:My dear, alot! If you are priviledge to interact with staff of any Nigeria embassy, you ll get some insight. Why do you think Nigerian visa is reputed as one of the most difficult visa to obtain. High demand and few issuance. |
I am so sorry about the refusal. In all my dealing with UK High Commission, i have never heard that flight ticket is a needed requirement to apply for visit visa. |
Any news yet? |

The waiting continues |
USPS delivery thru EMS is ok and fast, but EMS will exploit you before releassing the package. You have to go to tgeir office at the post office to take deliver of parcels. They access the package content and ask you to pay certain amount which they call handling charges. Have happened to me on more than one occasion. |
Our headache today is Willirose, even the great Phemmmy is not left out. MOD yield your big stick |
Monitor_1:Good to know that we have a listening Mod. My advice on creating a sticky thread containing the list of verified dealers/sellers has been accepted. I included my company's name when i sent my own information some days ago, because i knew it was important. This idea i believe is more beneficial to sellers like me, that do online transaction, without buyers seeing me physically. Definately, it ll boost sellers confidence. MODs thanks for this idea, keep it up. PS. Also i m surprised that only 12 dealers have adhere to the request. Why are others shying away from it? 1. I will advice that their should be a deadline for submittion. And any dealer who failed after the deadline should have limited posting privilege. 2. Create the sticky thread immediately, and let's see dealers who have complied. update it as more dealers comply, this will definately compel those that have not submitted to do so fast. Thank you. How long was it used? And what is the reason for selling? Hope no major problem? Where is it located? Fogmanmails@yahoo.com |
