The way people are castigating bank job makes me wonder if I work in the same bank. Banking is really stressful I must say but if u are a core staff the pay is very commensurate with the stress. The problem is most people want to take home a six digit pay for doing nothing. I worked in an IT firm immediately after NYSC which was as stressful as my current job but the salary is not up to what I get as meal allowance currently.
I ditched a state civil service job for my current job and I have never regretted it. The stress is there but when I remember the alert that wakes me up on the 3rd week of every month I don't remember the stress anymore.
I have achieved in less than 2yrs what I wouldn't have achieved if I was in the Civil service or my previous job in 6yrs.
I have friends with nice grades who are doing teaching jobs for less than 50k monthly. I need not tell you how stressful such jobs are plus the irregularities of the pay hence planning becomes difficult.
If you find yourself as a permanent staff you should be grateful cos thousands if not millions won't mind dat job for double the stress sef.

PS..am writing this from the perspective of a permanent staff of a bank, I know it's a different experience as a contract staff. The bottom line is to have an exit plan and develop yourself while on the job. Bad mouthing a job that pays your bill or has been a stepping stone to where you are today isn't cool..
most encouraging post so far, thank you for this, considering the fact that I would be a core staff.

Of course, definitely better than staying at home. Especially a fresher like you....

You can pick advice from this thread too. Plan your exit as soon as you resume...
thanks,really appreciate

Look. dont get dampened by what you have read here.

For you to get a little job satisfaction, you have to be in the right frame of mind.

Yes it is stressful but let your attitude be that of someone determined to scale a Mountain - A CHALLENGE!
I will be lying if l say l did not enjoy the challenge when l was there.... and the money was good too.
Each time l solved a knotty issue, l was praised and was the envy of colleagues and that is more than all the money in the world.

Start the job with the determination to "make an impact", even if its just within your Dept/branch such that if you were to be on annual leave, let someone says "Aaah, how l wish he was around".

Quite a number of times,l have been recalled from leave (ofcourse, they have to buy the leave back! grin ) because they need my attention.
When l go on leave they insist l leave a forwarding address on phone number (GSM never dey rampant that time!) or make sure l attend to my Email just in-case.

So Bro, I want you to be excited at starting that job..... there are many who will jump at the opportunity.
Just use the inflow properly.

thanks bro,i hope to make the best out of it....i was asked twice during interview if I can work under pressure, trust my reply na grin

Wow,i'm an aspiring banker, would resume TS soon with one of the top banks...I had better enjoy the leisure I have now, whilst it lasts......I have siblings and relatives that have been unemployed for some years now,and now that I have an opportunity almost immediately after my nysc,i'm jumping at it.its definitely better than staying at home.

Studying dragnet past questions for the test is a total waste time. HCP is the firm NBC contracted to handle the recruitment this year and not dragnet solutions.
HCP set "GMAT-like" questions and current affairs.
Please be guided!

Anyone who truly loved and followed the show would not be surprised at Arewa's defeat/loss.

I personally did not want her to win the show. My personal favourites were jeff and Anderson. Those guys were working their butts off. And Arewa kept getting the praise.

How would any of you have felt if were in a competition you worked so hard and your colleague keeps getting exceptional praise.

Imagine ty mix saying he wished he had a daughter as hardworking as Arewa as if d others didnt work as hard. Jeff a Ghanaian sang in Yoruba and Igbo what more depicts hardwork.

I said if for any reason Arewa won this show i would stop following PF cos the judges by their comments n at times design by almost always featuring last or after jeff n anderson had performed gave her the victory.

Thank God it did not happen. I would have preferred Anderson is second but third isnt so bad.

To Arewa and the other contestants, well believe that knowledge is power. Use the knowledge you acquired in the pf academy.

Arewa do not let anyone deceive you that you were the best in the competition. You were not. The best won. Anderson was the the second best.
God bless you,i thought I was the only one that felt arewa was always overhyped, the judges killed her by not telling her her faults, those critics helped Anderson and pearl become better singers/perfomers and entertainers....i'm so pleased with the results.

Fredoh:

Sorry for replying your message this late!
First of all, I want you to know that what I will share with you is strictly my experience at ACCESS BANK SCHOOL OF BANKING EXCELLENCE and you are at liberty wether or not to use this information for any decision making.
To start with, Accessbank training school ruined my life! I have decided to keep quiet about it on Nairaland till somebody talks about it.
Let Me Summarize!
After they made us look for #2M customers for them. We went to Lagos and did our Medicals on Friday, we were to resume TS on Monday. When we went to TS on Monday we met a woman called Neka, and she was the Almighty in the school- she was the program director!
She welcomed us, and ask if anybody's married, obviously nobody!
She asked if anybody's is getting married, no body
Then she asked me anybody's gonna be a wedding best man, then a girl said her sister is getting married and she's a friend. The woman said "you have to choose between your sister's wedding and this TS. The bottom line is TS is hectic!
Officially it's supposed to start 8am and close at 6pm, but I tell you what! There comes a time you will wish to sleep in the school but they don't allow passing the night any longer!
The courses are of two types "soft skills and core course" you are expected to keep your all your scores above 65% to remain in the TS and 64.99 is not equal to 65!
If you come late the rule says you'll pay 2k, if you skip a day without concrete reason, the rule says you'll be withdrawn!
If you skip a gym class the rule says you will be withdrawn!
If you score less than 65 in a soft skill, no problem so long as your moving average is above 65!
If you score less than 65 in a core course YOU HAVE FAILED THE COURSE and will be given a ONE MORE GRACE TO RESEAT IT, and reseating costs 3k.
.
.
.
fast-forwarding
.
.
.
You must take a compulsory car "LEASE" ( pls find out the difference between loan and lease) which is kia car.
You will be given 43,750 as allowance.
Biggest news is that after graduation, the pay is huge.
No accommodations for Nigerian trainees. Only for foreign trainees. (Zambia, Ghana etc)
.
.
.
after a successful graduation, class toppers may stay at the head office.
Class/course toppers may be given a prize for their hard work!
.
.
.
Must trainees will be sent to marketing, however, marketing or no marking, the target thing continues.
.
.
.
Unfortunately, I became a victim of circumstances and I was withdrawn!
As me why!
would like to know why...and is the training school monday to sunday?

Am a bit lost here, is it the same opening that we were told we would be contacted in 4weeks that peeps are already done with one stage or its another one? Please is dere anybody here that applied for the 10mins opening that has written the test amongst this peeps?. I am a bit shell shocked because I got a success mail and was told will be contacted in 4wks but nothing yet. This is so absurd.
maybe they sent it to your spam,a frnd of mine didn't get the invite, and I think that's because she was not qualified, she has a 2:2,meaning the earlier message she got that she would be contacted in 4weeks was a mistake
