I have some vintage Newsmagazines and Papers. Here is an edition of African Concord, dated February 1987. The leading story is about Equatorial Guinea's hostile posturing against Nigeria. It was published that Equatorial Guinean soldiers shot and killed Ninety Five Nigerians and deported Thirty two thousand Nigerian immigrant. Apartheid South Africa also established military bases in Malabo for a potential incursion into Nigeria. Ibrahim Babangida, the former Head of State of Nigeria, would later initiate a rapprochement with that country, and a detente was subsequently reached. Today, with our parlous defence architecture, frightening state of insecurity, and faltering political leadership, can Nigeria withstand any external aggression? I reckon that we are fortunate to have relatively weak neighbours. If ambitious and bellicose countries like Gaddafi's era Libya, Sudan, Egypt etc are the ones that share border with us, we will be licking our wounds all over by now.

remi1444:Go to your school Library or any National Library we have around. If you are in Lagos, visit the GTbank furnished National Library at Herbert Macaulay Road, Yaba. They have a section for materials on Nigerian politics and military. |
iboboyswag:It depends on where you are. If you are in Nigeria, you can check University Bookshops or any of the regular Bookshops we have around. Road Side/Under Bridge Book sellers also have some of these books(second hand copies) you might be fortunate to get them at a very cheap price. If you have the means, Amazon is also a good option. |
A work on the United Nations Protection Force in Bosnia authored by the Commander. It gives a brief account of the violent break up of Yugoslavia, and a detailed examination of the flaws of the UN Protection Force in Bosnia

Here is something on the United Nations Assistance Mission in Rwanda. The book was authored by the Commander of UNAMIR. It examines the historical, political, diplomatic and military dynamics of the Rwanda genocide, and the catastrophic outing of UNAMIR in that unfortunate country

Black Hawk, one of America's most sophisticated Helicopters as at that time. Somali militia's loyal to Farah Adid knocked off three of this bird off the sky of Mogadishu with their RPG's. This book gives an account of America's military fiasco in that beleaguered country

Few of my Vietnam War collections. Aside from WW2, I doubt if there is any other war that has been written about as much as Vietnam. The Americans literally got their egos bruised in the swamps and jungles of Vietnam

Aside from Pictures and Videos, and reports focused on military operations against Boko Haram, Can I also share some academic and scholarly literatures in my library relating to military and defence? |
In respect to the debate about recruiting the service of Eben Barlow and his mercenaries that helped stem the tide of Boko Haram's onslaught circa 2015, this book - Mercenary by Colonel Mike Hoare appears to be pertinent. Mad Mike Hoare is acclaimed to be the grand father of modern day mercenaries. He was consulted by Ojukwu and the federal government during the heat of the Biafra war. In this memoir, he gave a rich historical account of the Congo conflict. The book contains Maps, Battle plans, Military strategies, War notes etc. Most importantly, readers will get insight into the pros and cons of the involvement of mercenaries in internal conflicts. Military history buffs will find this useful.

SamuelAnyawu:This picture is not recent but it tells us a lot about the rough play that is going on in the North. It's like smoking cigarettes in a petrol station, like sticking ones hand in a snakes hole. Many people are ignorant, or would I say deliberately wants to ignore the imminent danger that this budding terrorism in the North West portends . So called security expert and analyst are also not sounding the alarm loud enough. What we have now is still dress rehearsal, by the time the bubble will finally burst, Boko Haram's insurgency will be like child's play

Faithful007:Lol. President Paul Kagame thinks by prosecuting General James Kabarebe, he can absolve himself from the genocide and war crimes he perpetrated against Congolese and Rwandese during the first and second Congo war. What a world ! |
remi1444:The difference between both of them is not much. Kagame is just western inclined, and he has a very good multinational PR Agency that helps him attract positive global attention and promote brand Rwanda |
Faithful007:The fact behind the downing of President Juvenal Habiyarimana's plane is still shrouded in conspiracy theory. The Rwanda Patriotic Front, The Belgians and even the American CIA have been separately accused of being responsible for that fatal incidence. I wouldn't admit that Paul Kagame saved Rwanda during the cause of the conflict in that country. I'l rather reckon that Kagame led the RPF to save his Tutsi people from extermination. The RPF also committed some spine chilling atrocities in those dark days |
I was at the scene of the massacre. Seeing blood gurgle from that ladies mouth is a nightmare I won't forget anytime soon |

The government has refused to talk to us. The last time I checked, presidiot Muhammadu Buhari has not granted any press interview to answer specific questions concerning the protest. The cow head obviously has nothing to say. #EndSars #EndBuhari #EndNigeria |
The coming days will be very decisive. #EndSARS #EndBuhari #EndNigeria |
