Education / We Will Only Pay N20,000 Tuition, LASU Students Tell Fashola by forcampus: 9:41am On Jul 03, 2014
STUDENTS of Lagos State University (LASU), on Wednesday, proposed a N20,000 across-board tuition fee for all faculties in the institution.

They also proposed N10,000 acceptance fee and N500 caution fee.

In a statement issued by the Students’ Union and signed by the president, Mr Temitope Nurudeen, the students also described as unrealistic, the July 6 deadline for the payment of the new fees as released by the state government.

The union also resolved that students should resume on campus with immediate effect, but strongly warned that no student should pay the fees until further notice.

The union said there was no deadline for payment now, while asking the management to suspend payment, “as we are into negotiation with the government.”

Education / 5 Ways To Make Money As A Student by forcampus: 11:48am On Jul 01, 2014

One of the greatest challenges for students is finance. We all know students need money for their tuition, departmental fees, textbooks and daily expenses.

While some parents can comfortably and adequately provide for their children’s educational needs in universities and colleges, majority of the parents cannot adequately fund for their wards in these institutions hence the children have to look for alternative sources of income to augment the little they get from their parents.

Most times a scholarship often goes a long way in alleviating the sufferings of students but then it takes a long time to be processed and one usually must have high grades in order to be awarded a scholarship.
So what do you do if you’re just an average student without a scholarship and you need some cash almost immediately?
Here are the 5 ways I recommend for you to make money as a student:
1.Play the lottery
Online betting is becoming increasingly popular and quite a number of students engage in this. This method will be frowned upon by many because of its addictive tendencies and of course the chances of making a winning is based on probability and your ability to correctly predict the outcome of any event. However,if you make a winning, its will likely be a huge sum which can safe as a great financial relief in your academic life.

2. Setup an online store
Setting up an online store has to do with the same thing as buying and selling. The only difference in having an online store is you’re leveraging on technology to reach more buyers who are willing to pay you more. You don’t have to build a website for this. Some popular online platforms have opened the doors for small retailers like you to sell on their platform. You can also leverage social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, BBM and whatsapp.
3.Help with other students with assignments and projects
You can help the lazy students to do their assignments and project research work and get paid for it. You will charge them depending on the complicity of the topic.

4.Learn a craft
You can learn a craft and start doing it as a past time activity while in school. Who knows? It can eventually grow to become your full time business. The advantage of starting a business in school is that you still have time to experiment and fail. Failing in business especially while young is not a bad thing as the lesson from such failure will help you to plan better for the next business.

5.Become a brand ambassador or campus liaise personnel for a company, business or product, promoting them on your campus and be getting a monthly salary for this. your thoughts?
