TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by fowopere: 10:37am On Nov 13, 2014
Hi there. It doesn't even make sense to buy BA ticket one way. Sometimes it's more expensive than return. Another thing is this; you might be asked to show your return ticket at the POE and not having one might suggest to them that you don't plan on returning after your baby arrives. So I'd advice you buy a return ticket. I hope this helps smiley

tattystv:
Congrats to you and your hubby. We are seriously considering Dallas as POE. Pls are you returning through same route with BA? Am trying to get BA tickets one way and the agent is saying that I won't be lifted unless I show them a return itinerary.

Congratulations on the successful POE experience. Please how far gone are you now and how close was the date of your fit to fly report that you showed the airline? smiley

Mrsfad2014:
Hi everyone, am reporting live from Dallas. I boarded BA enroute London to Dallas. Before travelling I went to BA office in the airport to book for a comfortable seat which I got. We landed in London on time, waited for 5 hours and then boarded plan to Dallas. Whao 10 hours non stop, it wasn't funny at all. Although the hostess are very nice, am the only preggy and the only black in the plane. We landed in Dallas and immediately I entered a rest room, brush my teeth, wear makeup, added some perfume and change my top to a nice sparkling white maternity top and put on a snickers. Off I head towards the office at the POE
Officer: Hi, are you here on business or holiday
Me: No, am here to have my baby
Officer: Move back a little, let me see you well
Me: Smile
Officer: Who will pay to your medicals
Me: Myself. I have $9,500 + £200 +N2,500
Officer: Do you have document?
Me: I almost ask, is it letter from embassy or doctors correspondence or letter of consent from hubby or what document. ( which one be over sabi sef) I just brought out correspondence with Dr Fagbohun and gave to him
Officer: Ok, place your four fingers here
And he stamped me in for 6 months. On my way out, I lady stopped me and ask how much do I have on me. I told her same thing + some coins which I don't know how to count. She asked for the coins not the money itself and she counted and said it about $5. She later ask if I have food items and I told her that I have golden morn and Honeywell wheat meal. She said am free to go and wish me safe delivery. I give God all the glory

pattyreal: please wats their package like?
I'm using it cos that's where my doc (zimmerman) operates from and his fees alone are not so bad $2100 for C - section and $1600 for normal V. Delivery. Then the hospital charges are $3100 for normal V. Delivery and $4800 for C - section.

Thank you all for your inputs on this thread, my visa just got approved today at the Abuja embassy.like they keep saying on this thread, be honest, dress well and pray to God for favor. Our interview took just about 5mins and I was so nervous because I was supposed to go with hubby but he wasn't available to attend. Went there alone with my son the transcript below;

VO: Where are you going?
Me: told him
VO: what are you going to do there?
Me: to have my baby
VO : do you have a letter from your doctor?
Me: doc here or in the states?
VO : doc in the states ( which I handed to him and he glanced through briefly)
VO: where will you be staying?
Me: at an extended stay apartment
VO: do you know how much it'll cost you?
Me; yes (then I handed over the reservation sheet and he took a quick look)
VO : How long will you be staying
Me: 3 months
VO :who is funding the trip?
Me: hubby
VO : what does he do?
Me: told him
VO : do you have his statements?
Me: yes ( handed the vo both his statements and mine. Again he flipped through)
VO: (with a big smile he said) you visa has been approved. Pik it up in 2 days.
Me: thank you ( with one hard babe straight face)
I dragged my son who had been talking non stop and very loud too, and quickly walked out if the place before the VO change his mind.
e
So just be honest.Dress well too. ...good luck and favor to the rest of us.

bloggerina: Hello, first I just want to say that this is a wonderful thread, lots of useful info. Its a pity I found out about this thread AFTER I had my baby in the US earlier this year. lol
Anyways, I just want to provide helpful info for the person who asked about another doctor in West Houston Medical Centre. I had my Son there in Feb this year, my doctor was Dr Jeanie Huynh. Fantastic doctor! A friend's sis-in-law had used her before so I went to her and I must say, i'm glad I did. She also did my son's circumcision and it was fantastic. I had emailed the doc's office and also faxed my medical report in advance. They didnt accept payment in advance anyway, had to pay everyth when I got there. So here's what I spent a few months ago:

Dr Huynh's Fee - $2,000
Additional OBtests @ Doc's office - $270 (please do as many of the tests as you can do in Naija)
Circumcision - $255
Hospital Fee - $4,000 (I ended up having a C-Section coz I developed PIH when I arrived in the US)
Epidural - $1,200
Paediatrician - $93 (Dr Huynh's office suggested a paediatrician to me that also gives discount to Dr Huynh's patients so this was quite cheap. Otherwise I would have spent $800 if I had used WHMC's Paed).

. I understand that having a baby in the US can be daunting, esp if you havent done it before so it pays to have people assitst with first-hand info, questions, clarifications etc. Am available to help sha.
I wish everyone a success in this quest and all the blessings of parenthood!!! May our investments in our children's future by having them in the US be fruitful in Jesus Name!
Please I'm very much interested. Kindly share contact info. The doctor I got in WHMC is charging over 4 for her fees alone. Thank you smiley

Mamatukwas: Morning Peeps...

So i came back to testify that we (Hubby and I) got our visa yesterday Whoop whoop smiley

It was really quite straight forward:

Us: Good Morning
VO: Good morning. Where in the Usa will you be going to?
Hubby: Georgia.
VO: What are you going there to do?
Hubby: My wife plans to have our baby and i will be going on vacation.
VO: Have you contacted a doctor?
Hubby: Yes and hands over relevant documentation.
VO: Browses through and makes some notes on her system.
VO: What do you do: We both answer.... What does the company i work for do (private firm), i clarify.
VO: Where in Georgia will you be staying?
Hubby: We booked a studio apartment
VO: How long will you be staying: I answer 11 weeks, Hubby says 3 weeks.
VO: How much does the accommodation cost?
Hubby: Approximately 3,000 dols for the entire duration.
VO: Can i see your statement? We pass her both of ours.
VO: Your Visa has been approved e.t.c....

We really really bless God... We didn't even bring out the budget we had prepared e.t.c My peeps don't be scared especially when you have nothing to hide. Dress well (I tried to cover my bump a bit, though it wasn't easy as im 30 weeks cheesy) and trust God... Also try and plan well especially as regards funds, but really sometimes even people with low funds are granted visa's so na God dey do am.

Ok i need anyone with info on how to get all my baby's documentation when i arrive the US to please vomit it smiley Especially if you had collated it before some pages were lost.

Thanks and have a lovely day.
congratulations! !! I tap into this testimony o. Applying with hubby and son and pray we don't have any issues like you. Praise God!

Hello house. I'm applying for my VISA with my son and hubby. What chances do you think I have? Should I have applied alone? The interview just terrifies me right now. We are frequent flyers to the UK and my hubby to other countries.

Mrsfad2014: @ Kween. Thanks so much for the information. I will send the mail earlier next week and update you of their response. Am happy we will be leaving Nija at the same period, kindly advise the airline you will be using and which hotel/ apartment you will be using. I planned staying with a cousin in Harris County , Houston for some days and later get a self catering apartment but when i checked extended stay hotel, i realised its too far to WHMC. Kindly advise on what to do. You can send me a mail on my personal box Lola.fadahunsi@yahoo.co.uk. I await your prompt response.
Extended stay on sam houston. Pkwy is just about 7 minutes drive tops .....and a 30 minutes walk to WHMC. Note that there are several other extended stay around there so you have to look for the one closest.

Hello house!!!! this forum has been so so informative! I am one of the mamas hoping to go and give birth in the states. I read the whole thread from the first page to the last page and followed step by step to get my hospital and all and I have decided to go with WHMC. i have gotten interview dates and all which is sometime in september and I am applying with my husband and Son. Even though we have a good travel history to the UK and some other countries I am still very worried and only pray that we find favor like the rest of you success stories in here. meanwhile i recently heard that people are being refused visas nowadays o could it be because of this Ebola thing? please who has gone for interview recently and how did it go?
