Bright and sparkling eyes are desirable, it shows good health and radiates through the face where bloodshot and dull eyes are usually lacklustre, tired and could be a sign of il health or plain exhaustion. Tired, dull and bloodshot eyes can be as a result of fatigue, lack of sleep, long working hours, continuously staring at a bight computer screen for instance, nutritional deficiency, excessive drinking, dehydration, smoking and even serious health problems like a weak liver. While an alarming case in this situation should be reported to a medical practitioner, these simple ways work to clear the eyes. 1. Eye Exercise There are easy ways to relax and light up the eyes which improve blood circulation and ease off eye straining. The first eye exercise is to shut the eyes and squeeze them tightly. Then open them quickly, as wide as possible. Repeat until the eyes begin to water. This will help your eyes look and feel fresh and bright. You can also move a pen or pencil horizontally and vertically in front of your eyes, keeping your eyes focused on the tip of the pen. Do this exercise for 10 to 15 minutes daily. Another option is to rub the palms of your hands together until they become warm, then place them over your closed eyelids for a few minutes. 2. Tea Bags Both green and black tea bags are known to reduce eye strain and restore the natural glow and brightness to the eyes. The antioxidant properties in tea bags help reduce swelling around the eyes. -Steep 2 tea bags in a mug of hot water for 5 minutes. -Remove the tea bags, squeeze out the excess water and put them in the fridge for about 10 mins or a little more. -Place the chilled teabags over closed eyes and let them sit for 5 minutes. -Repeat this often. 3. Cucumber or Potato slices Placing slices of cucumber or potato over the eyes works wonders for the eyes. They both noticeably help brighten the eyes as well as reduce puffiness and under eye circles. -Cut a few thick slices off cucumber or potato and put them in the refrigerator for 15 to 20 minutes. -Put the chilled slices over the closed eyelids until they become warm. -Rinse eyes with water. -Repeat this process often. Lastly 4. Always keep the Eyes hydrated One simple secret to get clear eyes is to keep your eyes hydrated for proper lubrication. Splash the eyes with room-temperature water a few times daily. This will help get rid of dull and tired eyes. Avoid staring at the computer screen for too long to prevent the eyes from drying out. Blink often as well to prevent the eyes from drying out. Also, drink plenty of water and eat water-based fruits and vegetables. Source: http://pulse.ng/wellness/pulse-daily-how-to-get-clear-white-eyes-naturally-id3476185.html |
Sleeping with or without clothes is an argument that has been going for a long time. Should i sleep with clothes on or without clothes on? Well, i have the answer for you, you should definitely sleep without clothes, and we have scientific reasons to back our answer. 1.You will get better sleep- According to The American Academy of Sleep Medicine, your body temperature naturally declines as a part of your Circadian Rhythm as you sleep deeply. Wearing anything could disrupt this natural drop in temperature and, as a result, disrupt your body’s sleep cycle. Disruption in the natural decline of body temperature is also directly linked to insomnia. If you can’t cool down, you’re going to sleep horribly. By skipping clothes, you’re really just helping your overall sleep improve. That’s just science. 2.You can air out your lady parts- Jennifer Landa, MD, author of The Sex Drive Solution for Women says sleeping naked is healthy for your downstairs lady parts, because your vagina has a climate similar to a tropical rainforest, it can be a breeding ground for bacteria and yeast. By ditching underwear and pajamas, you allow your vagina the much needed aeration it requires to stay dry and healthy. And, as we all know, a healthy vagina is a happy one. 3.You’ll feel sexier-Sleeping naked is simply sexy. Waking up without pajamas in the way automatically puts you in a sexy state of mind. It also means you’re comfortable enough with yourself to let it all hang out. A more confident you is a more beautiful you and not just to yourself, but also to others. 4.You’ll reduce your belly size- If you opt for sleeping nude, you could reduce the fat around your belly and even lower your cholesterol. According to the Huffington Post, your body cools down at night, increasing your growth hormones while simultaneously decreasing your levels of cortisol, which will result in “healthy sleep patterns.” The perfect night’s sleep would be comprised of two cycles: the first has your body recuperating with lower cortisol levels and the second sees your body working to increase these levels in preparation for the next day so that you might have energy when you wake up. If your sleep is interrupted (e.g. because of your uncomfortable pajamas), your body will naturally produce more cortisol than usual; the excess, in turn, is known to catalyze your appetite. 5.Get ready for a lot more sex- If you sleep naked, you’re going to have more sex. It’s just logical. According to Dr. Landa, 'sleeping naked encourages sex and sexier relationships are happier relationships.' Naturally, with more sex, you and your partner’s intimacy will only increase — especially when the hormone Oxytocin is introduced into the situation.Oxytocin, as the Huffington Post notes, reduces stress levels, lowers your risk of depression and leads to a load of other health benefits that might seem completely unrelated to you and your partner naked spooning. Who knew being naked could “reduce intestinal inflammation”? Besides, if you have no clothing barriers, what barricade do you even have? |

GOD DOES NOT RULE THROUGH THE BALLOT BOX!!! This article was originally scheduled for publication AFTER the forthcoming election in Nigeria. I did not want to be accused of influencing voters in a particular way. But upon further reflection, it became clear to me that I was actually trying to dodge the persecution that trails the path of anybody that dares to speak the truth. And at our present crossroads, the Church in Nigeria needs to hear the truth, however unpalatable. For the Church is in the danger of being used as a political tool by Christian leaders with ulterior motives. For reasons of objectivity and transparency, it is necessary for me to make the following disclosure. (DISCLOSURE: I am a passive observer of the political process in Nigeria. I have absolutely no interest in ANY political party whatsoever. And I will NOT vote at the election because I live outside Nigeria at the moment.) As a Christian, I believe that it is both sacrilegious and highly immoral for ANY MAN to use the name of the Lord, or God’s platform, to influence people to vote in a particular way that God Himself has not expressly commanded or revealed. All those involved in such things will give account for abuse of office when they stand in judgment. Sadly, the leadership of the Church in Nigeria has shown open partisanship in the current election. And this partisanship is based on a tissue of lies and distortion of the Bible. On the basis of this falsehood, a large section of our Christian community is being led to vote for incumbent President Jonathan – simply because he is a Christian, and the other candidate, a Muslim. In the name of the Lord, voters are being urged NOT to give due consideration to merit or performance, but to vote PURELY on the basis of religion! The foundation of this plot was laid about ten months ago by one Pastor Bosun Emmanuel (PBE) in a widely circulated audio message alerting the Church about a credible plan to Islamise Nigeria by registering the nation in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). In the passionate message, he also raised a lot of crucial issues pertaining to the current state of the Church in the nation – how we have stopped raising disciples for Christ, how we have become focussed on the so-called ‘prosperity Gospel’, how we are neglecting the poor in our midst (particularly our persecuted brethren in the northern part of the country), how the nation is decaying because the Church is neglecting her responsibility, etc. The message was a stirring call to repentance, and it spread widely among the Christian community. Personally, I reproduced and distributed over 100 copies of the audio CDs both in Nigeria and outside the country. Beyond this noble aspect of the message, PBE also planted some insidious seeds of politics. He told us that President Jonathan was planted by God in Aso Rock for a divine purpose. He told us that APC is a party that has an Islamic agenda, and urged us to vote in Christians as our political leaders. He pointed to Turkey and similar nations that had become Islamised because the Christians in those nations were not watchful as Islam spread its tentacles across Europe and Africa. He concluded by warning us that Christianity will be wiped off in Nigeria if the Church did not urgently rise up to begin to check the rise of the Islamists and their agenda in our political development as a nation. It was a sobering message. And a lot of us believed him. But with the benefit of hindsight, it is now clear that beyond the matters of faith he raised, PBE’s message was ALSO designed to turn the Church of Christ in Nigeria into a political association that can be centrally controlled. Controlled by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and its leader, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, whose virtue as an exemplary Christian leader he extolled very highly. Building on the foundation of that crafty message, the Church is now being told that any Christian that votes for APC is ‘using his thumb to dig the grave of the Church in Nigeria’!!! And, like puppets, untold numbers of Christians have bought into this huge deception without thinking it through! They have been taught to shut their minds to the failings and corruption of the present administration, and vote them in again in a bid to preserve the Church in Nigeria! What a lie! What a grand scheme of deception! NOBODY CAN DIG THE GRAVE OF THE CHURCH BY VOTING FOR A MUSLIM. The Church of God is first and foremost a spiritual entity, and thus it is indestructible by human agents. God DOES NOT need a Christian to be in political authority before His will can be advanced in any society. God does not rule through the ballot box! In His sovereignty, He can use ANYBODY (Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Atheist, etc) to accomplish His will at any time, and at any place. God is indeed sovereign in the affairs of mankind. Unwittingly, PBE also confirmed this in his message. He asked his audience, “Who is the best Head of State that Nigeria has ever had?” Many people mentioned Christian ex-Heads of State, but PBE disagreed. He said the best leader we have ever had is General Sani Abacha – a Muslim. He went on to tell us how God used Abacha to break a national curse over the leadership seat of the nation, and said that was the MOST significant event in the political destiny of Nigeria. If that is true, let us ask ourselves some questions: Who engineered that event? Obviously, GOD. Who did He use as a tool of fulfilment? Abacha – a Muslim! Does this same God still not reign? Has He stopped using ANYBODY as He wills? PBE even pointed to his audience that General Gowon, a Christian, did great harm to the cause of Christ in Nigeria because He converted the Christian schools in Nigeria to secular, state schools. So, brothers and sisters, furthering the cause of Christ in any society is not about the person in power – IT IS ALL ABOUT THE PERSON ON THE THRONE IN ETERNITY! And all He seeks are men and women that will obey Him on earth. God does not seek/need our political power or authority to achieve His purpose! The reason that Christianity fell in Turkey (and similar places) was not because Islamic fundamentalists rose up in influence or power – it was because Christ DID NOT HAVE FAITHFUL DISCIPLES ON THE GROUND. Where faithful disciples exist, Islam CAN NEVER quench the eternal flame of the Gospel. Never, never ever! The Gospel can ONLY be extinguished in any society by the One that lit the flame – Jesus Christ Himself. And please note this: Jesus can put off the flame of the Gospel in ANY society when His followers refuse to turn to Him with all their hearts. We see this most clearly in Revelation 2:5, “… repent …if not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.” Those were the exact words of Jesus to the Church of Ephesus – I WILL REMOVE YOUR LAMPSTAND! It is only AFTER Christ has extinguished the flame of the Gospel in any environment that Islamists (or any agent that satan wants to use) can move in and completely take over. In such situations, ignorant people will think it is the political power (or brute force) of Islam (or whichever enemy) that gives them victory over the Church. This is blindness! It is actually God, though Christ Jesus, that is in FULL CONTROL. Evidence of this abounds in the Scriptures. Jesus gave an evaluation of the seven Churches of Asia in the letters we read in Revelation 2 & 3. Of these seven, only two were without blemish. And one of these two, the Church in Pergamos, was actually located where ‘satan’s throne’ was! (Revelation 2:13). The Church of Christ flourished and triumphed right in satan’s headquarters! So, it is not about the location. And it is not about the spiritual/political authority in the land. It is about this: “Does Christ have true and faithful disciples on ground?” The testimony of the early Church also confirms this truth. They operated under some of the most repressive, tyrannical and pagan rulers – yet they triumphed brilliantly. They took the Gospel all over the then known world (Acts 17:6). Persecution did not kill them, it re- fired them. Affliction did not douse their passion for Christ, it re-fuelled it. The power was within them – not in the political dispensation around them. And the Apostles did not train their converts to capture political power to ‘help’ the cause of Christ in their land. They were trained to focus on Jesus. And through them, Jesus shone in the darkness around them. For Jesus Himself made it clear that His Kingdom was not of this world (John 18:36). The coming of His Kingdom will NEVER be predicated on tricking people to vote for corrupt leaders – in His name! That is the deception of Christian leaders that are feasting sumptuously at the tables of corrupt politicians. That is why many are not surprised at the allegation that some pastors have been given a bribe of N6 billion/N7 billion to influence Christians to vote for the incumbent administration. The truth of this allegation may or may never see the light of day. Friends, DO NOT BE DECEIVED. The man that is digging the grave of the Church in Nigeria is NOT the man that is, in all good conscience, exercising his civic right to vote for a candidate of his choice. Rather, the man that is digging the grave of the Church is the one that is not yielding Himself to love and serve Christ with all His might - spirit, soul, and body. The grave-digger is the man that is not making disciples of those around him. The man that is silent in the face of the corruption that seems to be swallowing the Church. Men like these are a million times more dangerous to the Christian faith than the brutal forces of Islamic fundamentalism. I do not for a moment underrate the horrible danger posed by Islamic fundamentalism, but I reiterate that there is a more potent factor involved - we are walking in, and working for The Greater One that has absolute authority in the spiritual realm. Christians do not wrestle against flesh and blood. Our wrestling (and guaranteed victory) is over ALL POWERS in the heavenly realm – principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12). When we stand on our assured victory in Christ in that realm, the events on earth will unfold ONLY according to God’s will. This is how Christians reign on earth. But where are the overcomers that want to genuinely yield themselves totally to the Lord to be used by Him? This is the true dilemma of the Church in Nigeria. We have lost focus of the Owner of TRUE POWER, that is why we are chasing the shadow of political power. Do not allow yourself to be used as a political tool by ANYBODY. Vote according to your conscience and conviction. Love the Jonathan administration? Please go ahead and vote for him. Want to try Buhari? Please go ahead and vote for him. Your primary allegiance is NOT to ANY MAN, or to ANY MAN OF GOD – it is to the Spirit of the Living God. Listen to Him. And vote ONLY according to your conscience. This is your liberty in Christ Jesus. Please use it wisely. Thanks for reading, God bless. |

My dear young Nigerian, please permit me to write you a letter and snatch some precious moments of your time. We could have had a talk over lunch but you see, you are surrounded by distractions; there’d probably be an Olamide video on a flat-screen eating up the words I want ingrained in your heart; our phones may be buzzing- yours with Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda”, mine with a Maroon 5 ringtone; an interesting figure might walk into the restaurant with a napkin covering her butt or pink skinny jeans crushing tiny phalluses. It’s called fashion and it’s all in your face. You would get too excited with all that is happening around you and miss the point. So here’s a letter, no distractions whatsoever; find a quiet moment and read through. I really hope you get to read because as I hear, the last time you flipped through anything other than your Malaysian weave was for your JAMB exams, and that was three years ago. You’ve never read a newspaper, you’ve never read a John Grisham book or a Jude Dibia fiction. Have you come across a James Hadley Chase series or picked up a copy of Vanity Fair? Do you follow the magic career of Chimamanda? Do you visit sites like New York times? Do you know who Sheryl Sandberg is? Have you read her book? Have you read the story of Singapore? Do you understand Christopher Nolan’s movie, Inception? Your life is roped in anxiety, common knots that ensure you fit in perfectly into a system with very little options. Society isn’t giving you much to dream about. To be a young adult in a country-like-Nigeria means you might need to try harder than the average person. Nothing is handed to you, not even kindergarten education. Ask your parents the ‘bastard money’ they had to spend to see you through 1-2-3 and A-B-C; if we had a government with half the conscience of Satan himself, we would have functional public schools and parents wouldn’t have to sell their souls to give you a primary education. Soon you’ll discover you’ll have to fight for everything you want- break doors, scream for attention, and spend expensively on cheap services and goods. The sad truth is, if you fight hard enough you can get a good job later on in life and live somewhere on the upper-middle crust of importance where you can have three cute kids and a wife/husband. That’s the kind of phenomenal success we record. In other climes, you work hard enough, you get a seat in Silicon Valley and become a part of the gods who create new technology every day; you may become the COO of Facebook or a partner at Twitter or CEO of some new program set to cause culinary satisfaction without the need to eat; so you get filled without food and thus never get fat- all of this just at the click of some device. Cool, yeah? The possibilities are endless over there. But not in your country, no they are not. This country-called-Nigeria cannot produce gods because it has refused to invest in YOU- the inquisitive child. Your inquisitiveness is being quenched by music, movies and comedy. Not bad, not bad at all; but is that all the options you should have as a young person? You are afraid to become a lawyer; your uncle finished law school over ten years ago and he still treks to work, stands at court houses trying to get his next meal, cutting deals like some desperate tout with a ridiculous dirty wig on his head- the dirtiest thing you have ever seen. If he sits in an office, they pay him N40,000! A man, with three children and a wife, who slaved through school to become a qualified lawyer! You don’t think of medical school either. Your auntie’s husband is a doctor and they still live in a rented apartment in a small neighbourhood. He drives a tiny car that coughs and spits and dies every other morning. Your older sister left a Pharmacist to marry a Deejay. A pharmacist spends seven years and comes out broke, the deejay trains for three months and with the right connection joins a thriving music label and begins to travel business class to London to host gigs; earns big and flashes Rolexes and Pathfinders on Instagram. A celebrity of sorts, he puts a diamond wedding ring on your sister’s finger and shares yet again on Instagram. He doesn’t forget to state the top jeweller that cut the rock into wedding magnificence. So is it fair to encourage you to be something that looks good only on paper? That is the disaster of being African; that is the shame of living in a country-called-Nigeria. I know at the back of your mind you’d rather be some video vixen with bright skin and big boobs rolling on Psquare’s crotch. This is your reality; very little options are placed before you anyways; so how can I blame you? You are only a teenager enraptured by the shiny things in front of her. When you listen to music, you will be attacked by a lot of lust that needs gratification; you’d listen to troubled relationships and baby mamas; you’ll hear the male voice asking for some “sugar”, sonorously requesting that she takes his large chunk of manhood from behind (forget that it’s really just as thin as a pencil sharpened half-way). You’ll listen as a female voice flaunts her booty in the face of another woman’s man. You’ll see all the sexual bargain on your TV; music videos preaching body-parts, all night partying, alcohol that leaves you numb and foolish, one night sex; all glorified pieces of debauchery displayed for your endless enjoyment. Before noon, music stations already have raunchy scenes of promiscuity littered all over your screen. Birthday parties have kids dancing to “love me with the right money” “touch me on my center of gravity”, like the dance of death, slowly eating at your virtue until there’s nothing left. Virtue; what does that even mean? Do you know? All of the twerking you are trying to perfect and the quick sex for relevance you are emulating are pain relievers for bigger issues- bigger issues like the strike you have had to endure for six months. Universities strike and the government shows no interest in what its young leaders are up to for six whole months. They are at meetings defending sums like N18,000 minimum wage for teachers, while some of them have over N500m in private accounts. They are siphoning the crude oil from the national can to their private bowls and tanks. It benefits them and their children who live and school abroad; you and the rest of us are left to lick the bottom of the can for a taste of anything remotely decent. You believe it is only normal for politicians to be corrupt, to have no shame, to be rash and rich and despicable. These things are signed off with: “it’s politics” and it makes it ok. An uncle dies on his way to Enugu because of bad roads; schools are glorified prison cells with decaying walls and lecturers would rather be having sex with some of you and drinking with the rest of you instead of worrying about advancing knowledge. These are all consequences of corrupt politics; but you are not taught that way; you are not taught to hold these people accountable for your lack of options; what you are taught is to pray your father, brother, cousin gets into politics and gets to grab some of the fat national cake that will affect your kindred! Mediocrity is excused with a wave of the hand. You are not reading, you are not evolving; these things begin to look ok to you; you just want to be successful like D’banj- the koko master, with his hand in a fist signifying the gift of a large sex organ. Sigh! This position you are in is dangerous. You do not have the full picture of the depravity that life is made of; and for most parents trying to protect their ward, religion is the only option they can latch on to. When your take-me-from-behind music fuses with booty-shaking videos, and your just-make-money-regardless lifestyle meets with Religion, my dear one, you are finished! Religion first makes no demands. It only wants your heart, like love, it wants you to believe in something. That sounds easy and straight, no? Then it begins to demand your time- be available to share your new belief with other believers. It’ll follow up by demanding your head to complement your heart which it already possesses. So it seizes your brain, then it chains your conscience. At this point, it starts to tell you what to do- how to spend your money, who to associate with, what to eat, what to think, how to live. Becoming a religious zombie is the only alternative offered to you in the creeks of this country-called-Nigeria where your options are as long as a thumb. It is my hope that you embrace the gospel hidden in rich literature. You know all the songs, but do you know what is hidden in Richard Branson’s “losing my virginity” (no, not that virginity). Go and read it! After all you know the lyrics to Tyga’s “rack city”; has that made you a smarter, more useful individual? Knowledge makes you glow. You live on a realm that leaves you translucent; you become a god when you are a reader. You can recreate your world; you can possess the earth and all that is in it. You may think you want to be a musician now, but when you read voraciously you may discover you would rather be an astronaut. No disrespect to the hustle of music, but wouldn’t you rather be on the moon? Whatever this country-called-Nigeria has denied you, it is somewhere in a book around you. You may not make astonishing money (really, what do you need four cars for?), but you become something. Something that makes a whole lot of sense. And that will be enough. |

i was in church today and being the church holy communion service, when it was time to receive the holy communion Pastor clearly warned that if anyone is baptized(not infant baptism or rubbing oil in cross form on the forehead but immersion in water),that he or she should not come forward that is a grave sin and desecration of the holy body of Christ, THUS my question is if one have confessed with the mouth, believed and accepted the LORD Jesus Christ as his or her personal lord and Savior, are they still entitled to receive the holy communion |
