You may take the missed 2006 world cup as an error. I saw that Montenegro match and I remember he came on as substitute and scored the last goal in a match argentina had already won 5-0 convincingly. What I infer here is that Messi was not a relevant part of the squad as his few contribution were late substitution from the bench, meanwhile Ronaldo was already the pillar of Portugal national team. I'm giving eye witness account here and talking from Memory.

You may reckon with this, it was culled from an authoritative source in WIKIPEDIA

At age 16, Ronaldo was promoted from
Sporting's youth team by first-team manager László Bölöni , who was impressed with his dribbling.[19] He subsequently became the first player to play for the club's under-16, under-17 and under-18 teams, the B team, and the first team, all within one season. [16] A year later, on 7 October 2002, Ronaldo made his debut in the
Primeira Liga, against Moreirense, and scored two goals in their 3–0 win. [20] Over the course of the 2002–03 season, his representatives suggested the player to Liverpool manager Gérard Houllier and Barcelona president Joan Laporta. [21][22] Manager Arsène Wenger, who was interested in signing the winger, met with him at Arsenal 's grounds in November to discuss a possible transfer. [23]
Ronaldo came to the attention of
Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson in August 2003, when Sporting defeated United 3–1 at the inauguration of the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon. His performance impressed the Manchester United players, who urged Ferguson to sign him. [24] Ferguson himself considered the 18-year-old "one of the most exciting young players" he had ever seen. [25][26] A decade after his departure from the club, in April 2013, Sporting honoured Ronaldo by selecting him to become their 100,000th member.

out of point , we are comparing ronaldo and messi dribbling ability and you are typing all these , nobody argued about ronaldo ability at young age , the point his , he was never a better dribbler than messi , it was never close like how people quickly call his united days whenever argument comes about their dribbling skill

same here ,i watch them right from the very start , and mind you argentina lost to germany because they lack someone who could stretch their defence something messi could have done had pekeman used him . he also regretted the action and was blame by the argentine FA ...go and comfirm what i said.. germany equalised and won in penalty shootout. i know ronaldo and messi like my palm so you know .

Mr. man I can bet my last penny you never witnessed those moment you try to take credit for and your response to this argument clearly showed. Anyone who care should go and get a clip of Ronaldo debuts match in Manchester united and come here to show in evidence where Messi could muster such a quality at 17 Some people, out of their ego driven nature will always attempt an alternative route to a flawed argument. Even the thread obviously should not have created a prolonged comparison between Messi and Ronaldo because it highlighted the current form of active players and not the past, and any die hard fan of Ronaldo should realize that he had lost more than 80 percent of his skill. But coming here to debunk the claim that Ronaldo was more prodigious than Messi in his early day is nothing but foolhardy. Does anyone care to understand that in 2004 Ronaldo was an integral part of Portugal national team that made it to euro final but two years later in 2006, Messi was not even at the world cup
you people ehn, get your fact before talking ,lionel messi was at the 2006 world cup and scored the same amount of goal ronaldo scored(1), messi goal came against serbia and montenegro...so where do you get wat u are saying, and talking about establish young player between the two player we all know who wins, winning balon d or at age 21 is not a easy fit, only delima ronado is younger, and finally there was never a time c ronaldo drible better than messi right from the onset of the 2 players , check messi when he was at age 7 back in newels , under 17s, 20s , and during is la masia days ...youtube is your friend check for fact .

5 challenges for new Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde

The Spaniard comes to the Camp Nou from Athletic Bilbao, where he helped the club to their first Champions League appearance in 16 years and qualified for European competition in each of the last four seasons. But while he may have impressed in Basque Country, the job ahead of him at Barcelona is bigger than anything he's ever faced.

What are the biggest challenges awaiting Valverde?

1 Make the stars happy
Valverde has managed at Athletic Bilbao, Villarreal, Valencia, Espanyol and Olympiakos, so the step up to Barcelona is a big one. He'll not just have more talent than he's ever had before -- he'll have to handle bigger egos.

That's not to say that Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Neymar and the rest of the Barcelona stars are especially egotisical, but there is a healthy amount of it in any great player and Valverde will be dealing with that in ways he never has. If the stars aren't happy, no one will be, and the results won't be pretty.

2 Start rebuilding the midfield
Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets are two of the best midfielders of their generation. But that generation is nearly gone. They're both older players and that age is starting to show. While they are still brilliant at times, there are others where they're completely overrun.

Barcelona need to start bringing in new, younger midfielders and Valverde will be tasked with helping identify which ones, then making those new signings shine. If he can't, Barcelona are in trouble.

3 Develop the young players
This is the area where Valverde might be most well equipped, and it's probably a huge reason why Barcelona brought him in. Barcelona used to produce many of their own stars and it wasn't rare to see half of the team come from the academy, but Sergi Roberto and Rafinha are the only players to make it through to the first team in recent years.

Athletic Bilbao's Basque-only policy requires they develop their own talent, so Valverde had no choice but to bring the kids along .... and he did a great job of it. Aymeric Laporte, Inaki Williams and Inigo Lekue got their debuts under Valverde and became stars. He'll be asked to do the same with the Barcelona youngsters now.

4 Show tactical flexibility
Valverde likes to use a fairly straightforward 4-2-3-1 system, but that won't work with Barcelona. Lionel Messi and Neymar are such brilliant but unique and versatile players that it's not wise to use them in a straightforward anything. Valverde will also have to figure out how to feed his stars the ball while supporting a defense that needs work. The good news is that Valverde usually has very good defensive teams.

5 Win
This one is obvious, but it's worth mentioning. Luis Enrique was facing heat earlier this season before announcing that he wouldn't return after the campaign ended, and he had a treble and double to his name at that point.

The expectations at Barcelona are sky high and Valverde won't get much of a grace period. He'll be expected to compete for every single trophy. He has to win, and he'll have to do it from the start. For a manager who has never won a trophy in Spain -- he did a very good job at his various clubs but they were facing an uphill battle against the country's elite -- that type of pressure is new for Valverde.

Cules i wanna know your opinion on these

STAT THAT SHOWS LIONEL MESSI IS THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER IN LALIGA

The Argentine picked up two more goals on Saturday and helped his team to a vital win in the race for La Liga, something he does often

Lionel Messi bagged another brace in Saturday's win over Real Sociedad, helping Barcelona to a vital 3-2 win as the club try to run down Real Madrid and the title in La Liga.

The Argentine has now scored 29 times in the league this season, but it's the importance of his goals that really stands out.

17 - Lionel Messi has won more points with his goals than any other player in La Liga this season (17 points with 29 goals). Vital.

Barcelona's superstar has picked up 17 points for his team with those 29 strikes, more than any other player in Spain's top flight, begging the question of exactly where Barca would be without him.

And for anybody wondering if Messi is just benefiting from the service around him, take into account that he's also scored more goals from outside the box than any other player in Europe's top five leagues this season.

7 - Lionel Messi has scored more goals from outside the box than any other player in Europe's top five leagues this season. Torpedo.

The Catalans will need Messi at his brilliant best over the next week, with Barcelona looking to overturn a 3-0 deficit against Juventus in the Champions League quarter-finals midweek before the crunch Clasico against Real Madrid next weekend.

lIONEL MESSI BAN IS ABOUT TO BE REDUCED.
according to Argentine paper La Nacion, FIFA will reduce Messi’s ban to just 2 games if he attends an appeal hearing they’ve set for him on the 4th of May.

Having already sat out on game of the suspension, that means he’d have just one more suspended game to sit out.

That useless team need him alot

and in other news paulo dybala was withdrawn against pescara due to discomfort in is left foot and he is a doubt for the champions league against barcelona

is that a Good news for us ?

thank God we won tonight cause the L is become too much lately
byke byke na u dey talk say rafinha na weak link and you were rejoicing right here
how market now
i really missed him alot
make i know lie my hope against juventus is really down , cause juventus is not a team that you can win with such huge margin, cause they really posses the quality to obstruct that

i just hope enrique come to his sense at these point in time , cause we didn't play tonight at all, but the 3 point is the most important thing

And who think zindane is one of the most lucky coach of these generation . he has won countless injury time game and winning the champion league was also among, cause is team are not that out standing in does games ...no beefing o
