My wife got a contribution of #500k from her fellow coworkers as the first recipient in early February this year. #50k is to be paid back every month till October ending which will be the last of the contributions this Year.

We used the money with a few savings to put up a room self-contained from our three bedroom house foundation and manage to roof and live there unplasterred with our three children since March this year.

She as been consistent with the contributions payment at the end of every month till the last which was due early this month. She has to beg for time but the person coordinating the contributions didn't want to hear of it. She was defaulted because I lost a huge some of money from my tomatoes business this year and hasn't been able to recover due to the drought which happened in southwest in June to September and glut in the market.

Our children's school fees ha to be paid and to feed in Nigeria now is very hard and tough.

I had to intervene and seek for a few weeks pardon from the person coordinating the contributions but she's all over us and called us names and weighed unimaginable insults on my ailing wife and I. (Less I forget, my wife has been treating ulcer for over 6 years now).

All pleas fell on deaf ears. We had to resort to selling two bundles of roofing sheets we bought for over 100k on a market forum on Facebook for #80k to enable us pay for the contributions and also use the rest to feed.

We had a deal with man on Facebook who promised to come pick up the roofing sheets which worth #120k for 80k.

After waiting for the man and didn't see him, I had to leave home to go look for money to feed in case the man did show up. Tw man later called he's coming and quiet was the only one left at home in a new residential area.

She'd to call a man who happens to be like a brother to her (they're from the same town) to come stay with her because she wanted to deal with a stranger and everyone knows how lawless Nigeria is. This brother happens to own a bakeriin the neighborhood. Immediately my wife called, he asked her not to sell the roofing sheets and asked her to come see him at the bakery. Wifey called me and told me everything. We were happy because we thought the said brother is capable of lending us the money which we'll pay back soon. I was happy, those roofing sheets won't be sold and would still be available this when we need them.

Alas, I got home only for me to meet my wife in sober mood and I requested what happened. She the bakery man promised to buy the roofing sheets for #80k only for him to send 50k for the last monthly contributions and later transferred #10k to her account for us to feed. He said he would pay the #20k balance by month end.

I was devastated!!! I cried because this man can conveniently lend us the money which will be paid back or can even pay the full payment for the sheets.
He came this night to get the roofing sheets. I wanted to restrict him till the payment is completed but my wife asked I leave him to carry them.

Morals of this incident: Never trust anyone in times of trouble and tribulations. Anyone can use your current situation to torment you.

In all these, you didn't mention your wife's October salary and why she couldn't use it to pay for the contribution she had already benefitted from.
What exactly happened to the salary? Did she spend it on some other things and failed to prioritize the contribution or the salary never came?
I do not like it when Nigerians borrow money and fail/refuse to prioritize its payment.
