CultureRe: What Is The Significance Of The Yoruba Tribal Marks by Freewilly(f): 12:14am On Jul 03, 2007
Guy seriously I don't see why this naming ceremony thing should even be a topic of discussion, even if Igbos have a naming ceremony so what. When My kid sister was born, a few of my parents friends came over drank beer and eat food and that was it. My kid sister was named after our big mama because every body said she looked like her.

Please back to tribal marks.

Thanks for the confirmation. I will make sure that one of my Igbo cousins who is expecting his first baby, adheres to the 'privacy-of-their-bedroom' rule. The guy was actually planning to hire a caterer, and have an r.s.v.p (rice, soup very plenty!!) kind of gathering, within his yard. I must remind him to conform to the tradition. cool
Now that davidylan proved you wrong you trying to be funny, dude you not fooling anyone angry Any why in God's name do you all have Igbo Cousins, makes me wonder huh huh

ghettochyk:
lmao!!! i don't blame you. YOU of all people should know a lot about short buses since you and your entirely family had to ride it from k-12. the thing that's making you mad is the fact that your mother or whoever took care of you your zoo keeper was/is decided to vandalize your already fxcked up face with a machete. ANYWAYS!! your abominable face is not the issue here. the issue's been settled. stop taking your anger out on Igbo people and deal with the baseball scores kept on your face. evidently, your pea-sized brain is incapable of conprehending what everyone else AND your stinking public toilet mouth is uttering. stay in school and stop displaying your insignificant mental capacity online. the LIVE embarrassment that you put yourself through should be enough. don't forget your "behaviorial meds", your "wild animal" side is acting out again wink
In person, I hardly get into discussions with people of your "lesser-advanced" mental capacity level and I refuse to do so online either. so if you're looking for someone to go back and forth with, you've found the wrong person. SORRY.

naahh, i'mma take that back cool
Now I see why the girl with the fxcked up face is taking this thread so personal sad sad poor thing I can only imagine what she went through growing up. cry

Neither I, or anyone in my family had our faces sliced, for which I'm profoundly grateful.

Face sliced shocked shocked that just sends chills through my spinal cord. Thank God the practice in now done away with, and those  people that subjected their poor kids to such horrendous act should be brought to justice and hanged.

@ topic

Back in my secondary school days, we had this boy who's face was badly cut up, he had six on each cheek. like this; "(((= =)))" (the = is supposed to be three). so we used to crack jokes that when a child is born, the tribal mark represented his rank.

((( ))) {means sergeant},

= = {corporal}

(((= =))) {means general}

((((== ==)))) {meant you were a field marshal).

there are different ones for lieutenants, majors, e.t.c

My friend was a major, grin
Kids can be so mean cryonly God knows what that poor kid had to go through. Thank God that barbaric act has been banned in Nigeria. And the four percent that voted yes for Tribal Marks on NL should be publicly flogged.

@babyosisi.

Nne I've never asked you for anything before, Will you pls quit answering to laudate and Co. The thread is about Yoruba Tribal Marks. I don't know why the want to derail the freaking thread. I'm sure if the thread was about one of the stupid things  some of these crazy people on NL write about Igbos you'll see them all happy.

I think Anambra state has one of the highest potentials for any state in Nigeria. I believe the have a chance of single-handedly moving forward without due course to what happens to Nigeria in general.

The governor is a visionary and I hope the people don't give him chance to relax. If they keep pushing him, there's no limit to what they can achieve. Imagine a governor that can push for the Onitsha market to be reopened.

Ladipo market was closed for months and Tinubu didn't care.

Did I mention they have some of the most beautiful women ever? I've never been to any Ibo state because of my personal generalizations, then the whole Bakassi boys saga just totally scared me away. However with this Peter Obi guy and the changes he's making, some of us may soon be heading for anambra state to earn our daily bread.

Then from there, we're facing Enugu where the people are just sitting on what is now called the DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH. You guys have no idea what people are using liquified coal for today.

I do believe this Chichi individual is Ibo, the type of Ibo that destroyed the Ibos throughout the past 3 decades but I think you people have to re-educate these people if not, they will pose a bigger problem when the time comes.

Every people has this type of segmentalist defeatist entities in it. You do not cast them away because the enemy will use them to divide and conquer you. You draw them near and re-orientate them.
Very well spoken, you sound like a very informed and educated gentleman. kiss
