The gate of hell refers to the Broadgate which Jesus Christ described as a gate into the Kingdom of God that leads to an end in Eternal damnation. The gate of Heaven is the Narrow gate which leads to eternal reward at the end - Matthew 7 vs 13 - 14 & Luke 13 vs 22 - 20 . These are gates one can only gain access to from right here on earth, when one becomes born-again, and the moment one does, one is aware of it.
