This week, we taking you somewhere LOVEPOST has yet to go: the dance floor. We’re counting down 10 first dance songs that break the mold. Ballads like “At Last” and “From This Moment” are totally fab jams, but if you’re looking to step things up on your big day, try these newer classics on for size. 1. If You’re Looking for Hit: “We Found Love,” Coldplay (Rihanna Cover) You’re looking for something that’s current, and something that people will recognize. Rihanna’s “We Found Love” is the hottest thing on the charts right now, but it might be a little fast paced and clubby for your elegant reception. Have you heard Coldplay’s cover? It’s the best of both worlds and would be the perfect background for your Viennese Waltz (hey, we watch “Dancing with the Stars”…) Here’s to a love like Chris and Gwyneth’s! 2. If Twilight’s Your Thing: “It Will Rain,” Bruno Mars Bruno Mars is the number one male crooner right now, and there’s no denying that the man does love songs right. Especially if those songs are written for vampire werewolf sagas. This is Breaking Dawn‘s anthem–but it could be you and your sweetheart’s too! 3. If You’re Looking for a Sweet Slow Jam: “Baby I’m Yours,” Shai This is a romantic R&B masterpiece by the underrated 90′s group, Shai. Check out that harmony. It even has one of those sexy talking interludes! 4. If You’re a nigerian: oruka: by sunny ineji In 1997, he became a nation-wide success with the release of his soar away, ‘Mr Fantastik’. Many thought he wouldn’t surpass that feat musically, but he did with a resounding success in 2003 after the release of the medley love and marriage song, ‘Oruka’. ‘Oruka’ became a standard wedding song and national anthem of sort. Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi will be fined 5,000 dollars for missing the Tuesday deadline to report to the Super Eagles' camp in Abuja. Team Media Officer, Mr Colin Udoh, said on Tuesday in Abuja that Eagles officials were unimpressed with the player and had handed down the fine to the player. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Eagles are preparing for their Final Round Group B match in the 2012 African Nations Cup qualifying competition. The team on Tuesday morning had its first training session after it opened camp on Monday in Abuja, with only 12 players available for a warm-up. The number of players in camp, however, swelled to 21 for the afternoon training session, with Obi the only player absent out of the 22 players invited to camp. ``All players were expected to show up by lunch-time on Tuesday, but Obi called to inform officials that he would only come in on Wednesday as he needed time to attend to family matters.'' Udoh told NAN that the fine was standard practice, even as the player was still being expected to arrive in camp on Wednesday. ``The fine is for being late to camp, and this is as earlier agreed by all involved with the team.'' http://www.livenigeriapost.com |
The Obama flow line at Okoroma-Terekein Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa was rocked by an explosion on Sunday. The explosion at the facility, owned by Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC), triggered pandemonium in the sleepy Okoroma-Tereke community. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the immediate cause of the explosion could not be ascertained but a source said it caused minor damage to the facility that supplies crude through Obama to the Brass AGIP terminal. In an e-mail forwarded to some newsmen over the incident, the Italian energy group, Eni, said the company had moved in some personnel to effect repairs on the damaged part of the flow station. According to it, ``Eni does not plan to introduce any force majeure on its oil export after the small incident at the pipeline, which is part of the Obama-Brass line.'' The statement further noted that “it is a very small incident. No force majeure is expected. Works to repair the damage will be completed in the next few hours.'' However sources from the area said the pipeline had been leaking oil into the creeks. http://www.livenigeriapost.com When contacted, the Bayelsa police spokesman, ASP Eguaveon Emokpai, said he had yet to receive any formal report on the incident. |
Dr Frederick Faseun, the founder of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), on Thursday appealed to the militant Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) to desist from carrying out its bomb threat on Saturday. MEND had on Wednesday warned that it would detonate a bomb in Abuja on Oct. 1, exactly a year after it set off bombs near the Eagle Square, Abuja, killing no fewer than 12 Nigerians, most of them security operatives, as the nation was marking its 50th independence anniversary. Faseun told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the reason for the appeal to MEND was to avoid the loss of innocent lives. ``I know that the leadership of MEND cannot get up to threaten to bomb without having its reasons, but care must be taken to ensure that nobody dies.'' The OPC leader, however, urged the Federal Government to do its best to ensure that it provided adequate security in the federal capital on that day. He also cautioned the government against having any elaborate celebrations at the Eagle Square to mark the country's 51st independence anniversary. ``With the situation in Nigeria today, the best places to mark the Independence Day anniversary are the churches and the mosques. http://www.livenigeriapost.com/ |
Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) on Wednesday said it had no plan to invest in crude oil refining in Nigeria. Mr Mike Mullier, Global Leader (Crude Trading) in SPDC, disclosed this to newsmen after presenting a paper at the ongoing Africa Energy Week in Accra, Ghana. He said that Shell was no longer considering investing in crude processing, adding that its downstream portfolio was already saturated. The SPDC official blamed the development on the low returns on such investments as African governments were regulating prices of petroleum products. According to him, the company’s investment direction is currently focused on highly profitable areas that offer growth opportunities and adequate returns. NAN reports that Mullier’s statement may have sealed hopes of visible private investment in the domestic refining in Nigeria. http://www.livenigeriapost.com/ |

consultant physician and nephrologist, Dr Olatise Olalekan, has called for the integration of dialysis into the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), to reduce the incidence of renal failure and death, The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that dialysis is a medical blood-cleaning process that replaces normal kidney functions. “In the Western world, dialysis, which is one of the treatment modalities for chronic kidney disease is free; it is under their health insurance and so people who come down with this disease access dialysis in centres nearest to their homes,” Olalekan told NAN. He noted that due to the high cost of dialysis in the country, patients had been selling their belongings, but die eventually due to insufficient funds for treatment. http://www.livenigeriapost.com/2011/08/25/kidney-specialist-wants-integration-of-dialysis-into-national-health-insurance-scheme/ |

He said that the players, who would also be playing Argentina in a friendly match on Sept. 6, would depart to Dhaka, Bangladesh, the day after their game against Madagascar. Siasia said qualifying for the Nation’s Cup would be a build up for their preparation for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. He also commiserated with the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) on the death of their colleague, Ajibola Oni of Brilla FM 88.9, Abuja and prayed for the family to bear the irreparable loss. http://www.livenigeriapost.com/2011/08/25/nations-cup-qualifier-siasia-name-25-man-squad-for-madagascar/ |
Many parents put soft bedding such as pillows and blankets where babies sleep, despite warnings that the cushioning increases the risk of infant death, a U.S. study said. That’s because many are under the impression that a soft sleeping environment means the baby will be more comfortable or protected from injuries, said Rachel Moon, from Children’s National Medical Centre in Washington D.C. “When it comes to babies’ sleep environment, soft is not safe, it’s actually dangerous,” Moon, who is one of the study’s authors added. Researchers know that black babies are at least twice as likely as white, Latino and Asian babies to die of accidental suffocation, strangulation or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), also known as “crib death.” http://www.livenigeriapost.com/2011/08/25/softer-isnt-safer-for-sleeping-babies-study/ |
