HealthRe: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by Freshface: 9:13am On Sep 13, 2014
Which patients? Is this a hospital? When d doctors were on d chopping board aw many of them rose to their defense? Well it's unethical n certainly illegal to prescribe over d phone!

Lomaxx n co, stop demeaning d profession. U better wake up and smell the coffee, it's a new era! Stop d free consultations, av u ever wondered y d patients are very happy to call u up even at midnight to get a free consultation, but will gladly PAY for their lab tests and PAY for drugs? Pls stop cheapening d profession, dats y they have the audacity to talk BS about u! This doesn't make them like u, they hate everything u stand for! My people say na condition dey mek crayfish bend! Let the people get what they ask for! Kapish!

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Freshface: 11:07pm On Aug 28, 2014
Justwise keep up d good work. It's a bit complicated I know. We need d info n sometimes d contacts as well but I also get aw dat can be easily abused sadly! I really don't know aw we r going to strike this balance. For instance someone might come in asking for a hosp n doctor in let's say Boston, n anoda has d info n contact, aw do we share this information without breaking any rule? Besides d bulk of this thread is made up of info on hosp contacts, doctors, accomodation, airline etc! How do we balance this so as not to lose d essence of d thread?

As for d agents, pls don't spoil this good thing for others na. Respect urself abeg.

As for d appointment I got d one for financial. She said she'll give me Dr's appointment after d financial. Anyway we can only pray for d best sha, I wud av loved a letter of commitment from a doctor really. I might av to present Dr Fagbohun's own anyway. Let's see aw d spirit leads.

Dat Nefertim's accomodation I tot it was unfurnished? I'll look at it again.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Freshface: 6:29pm On Aug 21, 2014
Wow dat was fast! MIHS just sent d appointment confirmation! Dat was superfast! And to think d stories of their delays almost made me not use dem! 2888k! Truly unbeatable! Let's go there!

I think they've changed d Melinda to an Alba. She seems more proficient. Good for dem.

As for MIHS I just called dem now as I didn't get any reply to d mail. It went thru one hand. I av an appointment now, d lady said she'll send an email confirmation. Let me wait n see.

Still working on d accomodation though. D airfare my agent sent seems to be quite high. I think i'll wait till september n see if it will fall. MIHS mamas pls which is d most direct route to phoenix? I'm travelling at 35wks plus I need an airline dat will fly me then pls.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Freshface: 3:53pm On Aug 20, 2014
Laura4u, I didn't include name n passport number. A colleague had issues at houston POE in June when they asked if she had informed d embassy. She said she did dropbox n even had 15k on her. Her saving grace was dat she began to have visible contractions before their eyes n they were even about to call EMS for her before she did her abracadabra for d contractions to stop! Lol! So I guess it's important to inform dem incase they ask.

Subject: Change in travel plans

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to notify the embassy of a change in my travel plans. I have a B1/B2 visa which was obtained for a family vacation. I am pregnant and we have decided to have our baby in the USA. I have contacted a hospital in the USA for this purpose and we have adequate finances to cover all expenses.

I understand my visa covers for this purpose but would like to request you kindly update my records to reflect this change in travel plans. Also please advise if there is any other thing i would need to do.

Thank you.

Dats d sample I got from d thread dear.

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Freshface: 4:07pm On Aug 19, 2014
So I got this from Abuja:

Thank you for your inquiry. Before you travel to the United States to have a child you should make the appropriate preparations, including an appointment with a healthcare provider, detailed information about where you will receive your medical services, and an estimate of the financial costs. Immigration officials may ask for this information upon your arrival.  Healthcare in the United States is expensive, including costs associated with child birth, and can escalate quickly if there are complications. You are expected to pay all costs associated with the medical services received.  Retain an itemized statement of account from your healthcare provider that outlines all of the charges from your care and receipt of your payment.

We hope this information is helpful to you. Congratulations to you and your family.

Best Regards,

Consular Section

So I got dis from lagos us embassy:

Thank you for your email.

There is legal requirement to inform us that you are seeking to give birth in the United States or that your purpose of travel has changed. The Customs and Border Protection, a branch of USCIS, determines a traveler’s eligibility of entry to the U.S, you should be prepared to demonstrate to the immigration officer at the port of entry why you are seeking medical treatment and that you have logistical and financial plans for the treatment.

We recommend that you review the regulations on non-immigrant aliens entering the United States for purposes of childbirth at https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/882/~/visit-the-u.s.-while-pregnant-and-the-risks-involved and plan accordingly.  Please you should not stay in the U.S. longer than you are permitted by Customs and Border Protection at the port of entry. The Department of Homeland Security at the port of entry will determine your eligibility to enter the United States on any travel.

If you choose to give birth in the U.S., we advise you to bring evidence of payment, both when you enter the U.S. on this visit, and at your future U.S. visa interviews.

Sincerely,

Correspondence Unit (MAM)
US CONSULATE GENERAL

This email is UNCLASSIFIED.

What does this imply abeg? Yet to hear from Abuja though.

Hi guys. So I just got back from Boston without any wahala. Planning to travel early october for delivery(due mid november) Since I came back I av bn so busy. I'm yet to concretize any travelling plans as it were. Still looking at MIHS and now houston(only becos I don't want plenty connecting flights) sent an email to Dr Fagbohun, seems like a nice enof dude. D response was prompt. Dr's fee is 2400. U get 20% discount wen u pay full by second visit. Oakbend hosp is 2150. Epidural is 850. Circumcision 500, 1st visit 150, scan 150, labs may run upto 750 depends. Paed is like 250 (these r for normal delivery. This is my 4th baby) My colleague dat used him last year says only good things. Fees was like 5k. I am yet to inform d embassy, mek accomodation plans or book tickets o. MIHS still seems cheaper though. I shud start calling dat their number next week, hopefully they will respond timely. So d MIHS mamas, aw una dey? I dey look una side well! Will let u guys know aw far. Still hoping to hook up second week of october ooo. Don't mind sharing a room for company as well or atleast adjacent rooms. Will help to keep sanity. Meks shopping trips fun as well. Mek una carry me for mind. I'm a nice girl! Lol!

Hello everyone, I av just read thru d thread n I must say a big thank u to all d contributors. It's really informative. So i'm about 20wks+ with EDD sometime in November. I av a B1/B2 visa already. I'm planning a trip to d US next week for a week just to enable me stamp my passport and possible register with a hospital, mek payments and then come back to return around october for d delivery. I av narrowed my choices to d obvious 1. El paso 2. MIHS 3. Dr Fagbohun. Unfortunately I couldn't read much about Dr Fagbohun, maybe d info was lost in missing pages. Pls can someone enlighten me about Dr Fagbohun? Aw does he work? Thx.

Burntcoal: Gud eve pals aw's bin our day? Logs4 2day may/02/2012:no joggin cos of d aches, bt I tuk a loooong walk 4rm 3:30pm tn 5pm(i nearly collapse on my way home considerin d aches in my thighs&legs) @9pm I did 10crunches&50 skips. Now food taken: morn= rice&fish, aftanun=beans&bread, evenin= eba&ewedu soup. Am i on track? I'll let u know aw tomorow goes. Good nite.
Wow! Weldone babes! Now dats determination if u ask me! Ur workout is great. Now about d diet, I personally feel it plays a bigger role in losing wt than exercises, I mean u can only burn so much calories with any workout. E.g you av to skip like 1500 at high intensity to burn abt 300cals! However, u need ur workouts for d toning n firming while losing weight and for ur general wellbeing, fitness n endurance level. So d diet u can control better. Try not to av more than one carb meal in a day (some say 1 carb meal/week sef!) U had rice, bread n eba today, these r not fat burning foods. U can av a protein meal, a carb meal and fruits/veg meal. Hope this helps.

Thank you Babs2011 and Ronkebp. The thing is that I skip dinner. So my breakfast and lunch usually don't add up to very much. I also try not to snack at all, just stick to my meals, mainly beans without oil. I try not to do carb more than once a day. The boy is 10mth, so we r not doing exclusive breastfeeding. I just breastfeed for him to help me lose wt (at least 200cal from him lol!). I want to look good for his first birthday party in may!

Btw, d thread is so busy! Welcome to all the new members and followers!
