Big big IT jargon! every one is trying to show how hot his brain is and how smart and fully compliant they are!

what piss me off the most is with all this big IT jargon that we are so used to flaunting av not yet seen a fully functional and commercialised game console designed by a nigerian programmer neither have i seen any good or partially working os developed by a nigerian!

the worst part is no one has developed a professional platform to support compilation in any African language! yet we are all speaking big IT jargon when children in china, japan, Russia and some other European countries are compiling in their native language!

Copycats!!! Empty drums that make the loudest noise!!
The silliest post ever,

Ubuntu is okay cos it is mostly programmer tuned. but be warned, to work with ubuntu, you need above average skills cos ubuntu itslf is a complicated os.

microsoft is more widely used and easier to work on.  it is actually better to use if you need more people to use your work and are a beginner.
simply use a language which is crossplatform.

i really don't think the os matters, but the language is the most important.

Ubuntu ke? grin grin grin , i am not disagreeing with you, na your sentence dey make me laugh. short and kinda witty.
Windows definitely has its share of problems but sometimes linux/unix isn't always worth the technical hype given to it by propagandists(mostly programmers who just happen to be anti-bill gates for reasons they themselves dont know or only heard on bbc click).
If your compiler will stay on an OS, the OS should not be an issue but if you intend to make use of stuffs like say IDEs, i am sure more and better IDEs run on windows than any other OS. What windows does, linux can also do but it is always easier with windows.
bill gates is hated cos of his intentional monopoly of the os market for more than a decade, and MAINLY his refusal to release the source for windows.
it has thus bloated the os with unnecessary code leading to poor performance and less steamlining. also, it makes work for us programmers and hackers a hell.
ProgrammingRe: Is It Late To Start Learning Programming @ 28 Years? by frostmarvl: 4:23pm On Feb 23, 2010
You just need to have the focus. In africa, 20 might even be considered early.

start with something easy, and make sure you practice everyday lest you lose your touch. you need to set yourself tasks and make sure you complete them.

i started self tutoring with c++, found it a tad too complicated and then switched to python. gave me the all the techniques i required much more easily.
you need to be careful, lest you get frustrated.

goodluck.

Python is about the easiest and most powerful language you can learn. It is especially good for beginners. I tried C++ first and man, I couldn't remember all the semi-colons and stuff.
You can easily learn python on your own as I am a self taught programmer. Email me for an excellent pdf for v2.6 and 3. can't remember. good for a beginner.

make sure to tryout wxpython and pygame,
