It was then my hubby told me exactly why he cut off from john and warned me never to get close to his GF back then.

I was shocked when he told me cos this john would act so nice when he sees me but I never knew he was encouraging my man to go for a gurl in nigeria.

Using the case of Ondo Vs. Ekiti as an example

Ondo is an oil producing state; why should Ondo keep a large share of the money accruing to them from the sale of oil , money that otherwise belong to both states ? How is that fair to Ekiti?

If you discount the Federal allocation coming to Ekiti State, there is nothing else from other sources. This takes me to the central theme of this article that Ondo State may well be the richest State in Nigeria today or in the foreseeable future and why?

Ondo State is now among the nine oil producing States in Nigeria that share out of the 13% allocation of the gross Federal Revenues usually reserved for such states on pro rata basis, depending on how many oil wells are drilled in their territorial waters, and the sheer volume or size of their oil and liquefied gas deposit and the quality The crude oil coming out of Nigeria is generally regarded among the best in the world. Ondo State used to be considered number 4. It then moved to number 2 on the rating scale and is most likely moving to number 1 today, because no less than 255 oil wells which used to be classified under Delta State are all now expected to be ceded to Ondo State, following a new Territorial Adjudication Panel recommendations approved by the Federal Government. That was point number one. Point number two is the discovery of Bitumen in large commercial quantities in Ondo State, not to talk of the limitless opportunities Ondo State now has to expand her Oluwa Glass Manufacturing Factory at Igbokoda area and all the revenues that those and allied industries could generate in the immediate future, if the Ondo State Government now in the PDP column, can get its priorities right. Gone are those days when the Federal Government used to look the other way, when issues concerning the interest and welfare of Ondo State come up for discussion.

With a responsible Government, Ondo State stands the chance of becoming the most economic buoyant state in the Nigerian Federation. Ondo State has got everything. The manpower base is huge and well informed The soil is good for Agriculture, and Ondo State may well become the Food Basket of Nigeria if the arrangement to bring in the Government of Israel to help, can be pursued to its logical conclusion. Ondo State is a huge Cocoa producing State in Nigeria. Much of the cocoa produced in Nigeria, come from Ala Ajagbusi, and Igbatoro Familugba all belonging to Akure, the State Capital. Much of the Timber Nigeria depends on today, also comes from the same area, and more importantly from the Ofosu Forest Reserve all owned by the State Capital

And in a federalist system, Ondo would be keeping more of the money to themselves, keeping poorer states like Ekiti in the lurch. And the money Ondo would be keeping to herself, directly or indirectly belongs to both Ekiti and Ondo. So how is true federalism fair to Ekiti and why Ekiti support such a proposition?

How can a state which was not in existence but which was created by the federal government be talking about fiscal federalism? Then they quickly rush

This is like a chihuahua threatening a pitbull. The chihuahua will get eaten for dinner. Ijaw youth's with their all but how many population want to fight who? A very tough question. Let me chew on this a bit. In fact, I'll only address this last question you raise (in bold); the rest requires more thought.

Well, let me put myself in the boots of an Ijaw SS man. (I think the calculus changes for Itsekiri, Urhobo, and other ethnic groups, so let's not lump all their interests together.)

So if I were an Ijaw SS man, what arrangement would best serve my interests?

Well, the best arrangement imo is one in which:

A) I keep almost all of the resources that come out of my territory. So let's say 100% derivation.
B) I also get to control who enters and leaves my territory, to avoid being overwhelmed numerically by less wealthy but very numerous neighbors.
C) I also don't have to spend much money on security and preventing myself from being dominated from my neighbors or the strong powers of the world.
D) I am not only secure from my neighbors, I have great influence over them (some might view this as optional, but personally I'd want this myself.)

Suppose you could guarantee that a hypothetical Ijawland would never be threatened by its neighbors or by the great powers of the world (US, Europe, etc.) In other words, (C) is automatically guaranteed.

The current Nigeria setup doesn't give me any of (A) through (D), as an Ijawman. Federalism in Nigeria probably doesn't give me (A) or (B) (at least, not completely.) However, independence (under this assumption that (C) is automatically guaranteed) gives me everything, I think.

So in this hypothetical scenario, I think the best bet would be independence.

Now of course, in the real world, (C) will not be automatically true. In fact, I'd have to spend assloads of cash keeping my neighbors, the US, Europe, and China from screwing me over. And in the first few years of a new nation, my nation would be fairly weak. . . so the probability of me becoming a puppet of one of these foreign powers is pretty high.

Nigeria has been formed and true federalism is the answer, (minus the North of course, they are murderers). As an ardent Biafra supporter, the minimum I'll go for is Biafra (SE & SS) which is multi-ethnic as well. I'll equally go for Southern Nigeria because we need a bigger population to be meaningful in the world. If we get Southern Nigeria, Biafra agitation will die.

I once thought of Alaigbo Republic but that is an option if the opportunity to leave arise and the rest of S. Nigeria opt to stay put in Nigeria.

Eh, forced marriages tend to be pretty unsuccessful. If the first thing that a region does when getting some measure of power is seeking to leave the union, then maybe it is best if Nigeria peacefully negotiates a breakup. It isn't a do or die thing, is it?

Anyway, I think if you devolve power from the central government to the states and local governments, increase derivations to something like 50% (do it slowly over say 5-10 years to cushion the impact), most people would be inclined to stay. I don't mind staying in a Nigeria like that, personally.

A true federation is imo slightly or vastly superior to leaving outright (I think most would agree on this.)
