Please I need advice, for those living outside Nigeria currently, but did biometrics in Lagos, how does the courier service work for passport delivery outside Nigeria?

I received it around 3or4pm Nigerian time, I just remembered to update the group.

I finally sent emails yesterday and 1 webform, and PPR came in today.

Please do not assume that everyone that does it before 6 months, bribed anyone. I paid online for 10 years, and when I went to the capture I told them that I got approved for my student visa, and I needed a passport with much longer validity. And that was when they told me about migration, and that's what they did.
I did not trust that my passport would come out quickly, so I sent in my old passport to be stamped (whilst my new passport was being processed), and it was still valid for visa stamping. but the passport came out in days.
When I landed in Canada and they stamped the old passport because that's where the visa was on, even though it was cancelled without prejudice. If the passport was declared missing by immigration, they won't have let me into Canada because every passport declared missing is tagged.

We all know that nothing is impossible here in Nigeria, but the fact still remains that you can’t renew a passport that has more than 6 months to expire unless you do it the wrong way by bribing.

That being said, your own situation is different because yours is a passport reissue, not a renewal.

You can apply for a passport to be reissued at any time as a result of data corrections like changes of name or rearrangements of names, whereas the process for passport renewal is six months before expiration.

You are absolutely right and I also didn't want to add my input initially on this because of back and forth stuffs on here. It's clearly on the Nigerian immigration website or a Google search would have provided the accurate information that you can only renew your passport six months before expiry.

Even though we all know that in Naija there are rules and regulations but because some people bypass it or do not adhere does not mean there is no rule so we need to be providing information based on that and not I did it or someone did it one way.

Also in Immigration terms there is nothing like passport migration. It could be a slang or just something cooked up. Wishing everyone positive news on your expectations.

I don't know why they would say that, for my last passport renewal, I had not exhausted my pages.

I went to two passport offices (Festac and Alausa) today for passport renewal, but I was turned back.

They all claimed I couldn't start the renewal process now for a passport that will expire in 11 months (the passport will expire on April 17, 2024). I was given October 18, 2023, as the earliest day I could start the renewal process.

I asked them about passport migration. They were just looking at me somehow. But one officer at Alausa said there's nothing called passport migration. He said it's called passport "re-issue". He said passport reissue is different from passport renewal.

He said I can only get my passport reissued if I have used all the pages or I want to do data correction like change of name.

this is not entirely true. His profession is pretty niche and there are opportunities for him there

They give priority to study and work. Thank God they’re even ready to clear visit application backlogs, imagine waiting since 2020. Ircc no try at all, the wait is almost over sha.

I believe biometrics starts at age 14, but if your kids need to do biometrics IRCC will inform you.

To be honest I don't know how people are handling this... my study permit was less than 4 weeks from when biometrics got updated. This visitor visa for my husband is stressing me tf out. Drop BVL, see visa details, still waiting for the Passport Request...

on my last flight, they returned someone, the Same KLM. currently an international student in the same Canada. Please be careful o.

That’s a false information o, airline can’t stop you from boarding because of that. I just finish speaking with KLM customer service (+234 1 277 80 50). She said decision is mine to book either one way or retune, they’ve no restriction.

your friend who booked 1 way, what type of visa is it? SOWP? please tell him to call the airline to confirm that it is possible.

I don’t think it’s mandatory but to be on the safe side. I’m chatting with someone, his wife is traveling on Thursday, he booked one way ticket 1.4m, so i understand why he didn’t book return. I’m waiting on her experience to make my decision. I don’t think I want to book return, na to look for good excuse incase of interrogation. I will also drop her POE experience once she lands on Friday.

N.B: Those going for tourism should just book return tickets. I don’t think there’s excuse in this category.

It is mandatory, the airline will not let her board without a return ticket for a visit visa. and if for some reason they let her board, she will have issues with Canadian immigration, because she won't be able to prove intent to return. For students, workers and permanent residents, it is different, and they can book one way.

The way some people talk with authority of what they know nothing about or have experienced baffles me!
Nobody claimed any misplacement or did any affidavit for any lost passport on my behalf.
I paid for my passport renewal in December 2022 and my passport was to expire in October 2023. Paid extra #20,000 which is official (on top of the original unofficial amount for renewal). My previous passport of October validity was 5 years and I was renewing for 10 years. I went for capturing in January 2023 with my old passport and in March, I went to pick up my new passport with my old one where they now stamped it “cancelled” before activating the new one.
Please, let’s endeavor to share info we are sure of or have experienced before in order not to unintentionally mislead or spread false information. Authentic information can help someone in the same situation.
Btw, this experience happened in Port Harcourt.

this is not true, there is a process called migration, people who have exhausted their booklet before expiry use it often, and anyone can. If you travel frequently, in a 3 year period, you can finish all the pages. the migration processes different from the missing passport process.

The person that process your passport claim a misplacement. Which he will make affidavit, police report and a copy of your data page.Everything will be done like a new passport and without the old passport 10months expiring date. Normally is less than 6 months before renew.

I renewed mine with 14 months left to get 10 years. In immigration terms, it is called migration. I did this last year and my friend did here last month

Really? When I wanted to renew mine, the immigration officer told me to come back when it’s like 4months remaining…. This happened around early January this year.

17 Oct 2022 - TRV. I think my mistake was applying for him on a new profile. I currently have a study visa and it came in less than 6 weeks.
