Oga, please relax. If you have any personal issues, it’s better to solve them privately rather than attacking someone online. The fellow is only giving guidelines or helpful tips, and it's up to anyone to use them. Visa approval is not based on what a person says online; it’s the visa officer who decides who gets issued a visa. Most people online are just giving advice based on the law or their experience, but nobody here including me is a visa officer or registered ircc consultant, so I see no reason to attack anyone and you have been advice many time to avoid visa agent and do ur application urself!

- Where is your proof that majority of Nigerian - Canadians often face significant challenges? Share the data please.

- I thought it is implicit in migration that most people are fleeing one form of challenge or the other. So should we begrudge people of the thought that their life in Canada is a step-up on their previous life? It is their life, their thought.... Life will always have its challenges, being 6ft under presents none.

It is very difficult to get such jobs. The process involved is very long. I employed someone in 2021 under the old pilot program, the work permit was only approved in 2024. By the time she arrived with family in Canada, I no longer need the service. Good thing it is an open work permit and she got a job with someone else. The documents involved in processing the work permit is very extensive. Some of the information needed from the employer may prevent them from employing a stranger.
Thank you, you've accurately pointed out that the structure of the program and the documents requested are not the kind of information one would want to share with a random stranger!

I never thought of that, thanks for bringing that to my attention. She is not getting paid at all, she would do it in a heartbeat if she were living here but i understand how it may be seen as an employment. We cannot leave our kids in any daycare for two weeks, i don’t even think there is any centre like that. Not sure how to proceed at this point really because our initial reason of visit and travel companion dis not fly. We want them to stay in a familiar environment with someone they know, my kindergartener will still be going to school for example. May I inbox you?

#Random rant: I know why they are doing this but still, it is so annoying that they have programs that bring in immigrants from all over the world and make them citizens but then make it nearly impossible for your family to visit except maybe your parents. Sometimes going home is not an option due to work and other commitments, might be easier to just have them visit. Anyway, na da their country so….
To be honest with ourselves, while we blame the Canadian system, we should also acknowledge that our people are abusing visiting visas to claim asylum. Statistics show that Nigerians are among the top 3 countries for asylum claims in Canada , with about 13,040 Nigerians claiming asylum within just the first 9 months of 2024, after India and Bangladesh. Even some so-called family members who are issued visas are now claiming asylum mostly using visitor visa , and unfortunately, this is affecting innocent applicants. It’s sad, but this is the reality we are all facing.

Anyways it's well..

The only advice I will give you is that at no time will the Canadian embassy ask you to send money to anywhere or to anybody as you progress. Eventually, a scammer may try to ask you for money. Most activities should be reflected on your portal, and I still have many doubts about that email because a person was scammed through a similar email of vfs and It was 100% cloned and had nothing to do with Canada or the Canadian Visa Centre. Do not give your bank login details to anybody, and never click any links to a bank for verification from your email. You will be scammed. I encourage you to order a GCMS note or contact IRCC via webform or telephone to confirm the true origin of that email. Stay vigilant!

Doc requested so f r
Payslip
Tax clearance
Polixe report
Statement of account
Today drug clearance

As any one here submitted any of the aforementioned docs before?

Please reply
Hello, based on information you provided earlier you completed biometric on October 4,2024 with a family of four, and on December 12, you received an email asking to upload your wife’s payslip, even though she is not the main applicant. Then, on December 26, which is public holiday in Canada, you received a notification in the morning asking to submit your police character certificate and tax clearance. On January 25, 2025 you received a notification again to upload your drug clearance certificate, among other requested documents from the past few weeks. "WHAT IS DRUG CLERANCE CERTIFICATE "huh

Now, please clarify, did you apply visitor visa yourself or visa any agent or application to join the Canadian Armed Forces or the police? Because this application doesn’t seem to resemble a typical visa application anymore !

They'd be a recession on both ends. The border states would especially suffer. Specifically the auto industry, where auto parts go back and forth about 7 times before the car is finished being built. So you'll charge tariffs each time a part crosses the border ? How much more would that car now cost ?

A lot of Canadian retirees who want to get away from the harsh winters go and live down south in places like Arizona, Florida, Texas, etc. Florida's economy would greatly suffer if not almost collapse without the influx of Canadians each winter. If the CDN dollar gets extremely weak, a lot would go to another warm destination, where they'd at least have decent purchasing power. Whereas, a lot of American companies would come up north as their operating costs would greatly reduce in Canada, as they operate in USD. That's why Hollywood films a lot of movies in Canada. Its cheaper for them as their movie budget is in USD.

The US has the world's biggest economy. It'd only make sense for Canada to tie their economy to the US. But it seems they'd be forced to finally diversify now. Other countries are watching this assault on Canada by Trump, and are implementing a diversify policy to not solely rely on the US market. This may hurt the US in the long run. But nonetheless, don't believe Trump nonsense. US citizens would also suffer, and they also need Canada. Both countries economy are integrated. If you shock the system, both countries would feel it, period.
You are right in some aspects of your comment. However, due to the tariffs, the Canadian economy will be hit more and could enter a recession, while the USA will be less affected by the after-effects of the tariffs compared to Canada—especially considering the economic power base of Canada, which is Ontario. Personally, I will not keep any cash; holding about CAD 10,000 in Canadian dollars is too risky given the current situation. It is the right time for Canada to look into other ways to stop its over-reliance on the USA for survival.

there is a huge backlog for asylum claims Will take 2-3 years for some to even get a hearing. Then many who have been denied the CBSA cant locate them to enforce deportation orders.
unfortunately, students who declared asylum last year have already begun receiving hearing dates. I know a student who declared asylum in August 2024, expecting a 2-3 year wait for a hearing date. This would have allowed him to work, save money, and plan his life, even if his asylum claim was ultimately denied. However, I was surprised to learn that he recently received a hearing date for February 2025.
It appears that the authorities are prioritizing students asylum claimant for expedited hearing dates, and unfortunately, many of these claims will likely be rejected. This is particularly true for students who attended school and then dropped out to claim asylum.

Papers papers papers bla bla bla, people are not moving abroad for any goddammit papers, Nigeria is the poverty capital of the world most people traveling are going there to find money and take care of their family.
And who told them that things are smooth anywhere? When you tell the truth, what is often the response you get? People think I will advise any student not to come to Canada. The few I advise on the reality of life here, what to expect, or how to follow Express Entry always end with insults or allegations that I want to discourage them from coming to Canada. One person even called me the enemy of progress. So, if anybody wants to come—even if you tell me you plan to work and pay $20,000 in tuition fees per year—my reply is, 'God will help you.' We prefer those empty religious slogans instead of facing the truth. When they fake proof of funds, they do not remember God but are coming, trusting that God will provide. If I can survive in Lagos, I can survive anywhere. Mentally, it ruins lives and leaves many stranded, even on the Express Entry page. Some people try to explain the challenges ahead. and how best to prepare ahead as it not rosy anywhere , but majority say it's negativity and that the individual should come back home. They do not want to hear this information , and if they arrive and face reality, then nobody should complain. It's simple!

Don’t fall for emotional manipulation. The person asking for the reason for the ban is asking a valid question because it needs to be addressed in detail in your next application. This is different from someone who applied for a U.S. visa with a different name and date of birth, then later applied for a Canadian visa with a different passport that has his real name and date of birth and got banned. Even if such a person reapplies 100 times after 5 years, they will keep getting Canadian visa refusals until the U.S. issue is resolved

Hello everyone,

I recently received a denial for my visitor visa application. To understand the reason for the denial, I applied for my GCMS notes. However, upon reviewing the notes, I was disappointed to find that they didn't provide any specific reason for the denial, instead repeating the same generic response I received initially.

Could anyone offer guidance on the next steps I should take?
Firstly, you are not the first person IRCC has refused in this pattern, especially for tourist visas in 2024, where GCMS notes often lack detail. However, student visa refusals are usually more detailed but What type of visa did you apply for? Do you have family in Canada? Do you have travel experience?

Personally, I have advised people with no family in Canada or strong travel history to take a break from applying for Canadian tourist visas until after the elections next year. However, if anyone still wants to proceed, they can try their luck. But be aware that GCMS notes for visit visas are often empty these days, and the refusal letters typically provide only generic explanations.

Hi everyone, i have applied for my PR via MPNP and Brandon as our destination. Canada is our plan B instead of moving back to 9ja if we cannot meet with our extension requirement anymore in Europe. My fear is about how difficult it is to get a job in Canada. After going through threads on Nairaland, I read about getting a certification that will help one to secure a job asap. My job description is no 33102 nurse aid/ patient associate and I thought about doing a health care aid program online before getting landing in Brandon. The only program I saw in Brandon is rendered in Assiniboine college but I need a study permit refusal letter if I will not be able to meet up with my study on campus date to get my tuition deposit refunded and that makes it a No. The other option I saw was Thompson Rivers University online/distance HCA program and my question is that can I use it to secure a job in Manitoba? The job openings that I have seen so far just require a recognized HCA certification. Any advice, recommendations will be appreciated. Thank you.
CPR and First Aid certification can be completed in a one-day training session, including both lecture and practical components. These certifications are not only offered by Canadian colleges but also by globally recognized organizations like the Red Cross, which provides them worldwide at cheaper rate . Therefore, focus primarily on obtaining the main Health Care Aide certificate

What you need to secure a job is a Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized program. Thompson Rivers University is a well-recognized university in Canada and will not run a program that is not recognized. Additionally, you need CPR and First Aid Certification, which are the most important requirements to secure a Health Care Aide job.

First this,

Then this.

You must really have self esteem issues if you describe yourself this way.

Those kids are Canadian and just like all races are not exempt from a few being delinquent. They offer no apologies for being Canadians in same way a white American today offers no apology to indigenous folks.

You should learn to live as a free being and not have a servile mindset - living the rest of your life believing you owe anyone eternal gratitude for being in Canada.

Crime should be condemned and addresed - not painted with racist stereotypes
Let's continue to deceive ourselves, playing the race card, and turning a blind eye to the reality of the crimes being committed. From the many cars stolen across Canada and shipped to Dubai, Nigeria, and Ghana, please go and trace those behind these crimes. Is it a white person buying those stolen cars and sending them to Nigeria or Ghana? Go and see those behind the various group shop break-ins in Toronto, or the illicit fentanyl moving across the border from Canada to the USA and vice versa—who are the people involved. Please do your research as we continue to turn the truth into racism. I would advise parents to keep a closer eye on their children, especially teenagers, if they bring them here. But you can continue to defend the truth with excuses rooted in racism. I wish you good luck as a goodwill ambassador.

this is false and cannot be done. If you chose unaccompanied and change it after passing eligibility the scores will be recalculated. The scores is only locked if they are newly married.
Stop arguing about something you know little or nothing about. I know more than five people who did the same thing—first, choosing an unaccompanying spouse pre-ITA, but after eligibility was passed, they added the spouse by sending a webform to IRCC. They were then asked for evidence of marriage, photos, and proof of living together. After that, they were instructed to fill out the form and pay fees such as the biometric fee and the Right of Permanent Resident Fee, and the application was processed together. No marks were recalculated after eligibility was passed, and remember, the unaccompanied spouse also passed the initial medical. I am 100% sure about this. However, I don’t encourage it because too many people are now using this trick to add a spouse, and IRCC will likely act soon, as this is a way to bypass the scoring system if your spouse is lowering your score grin

Hello Everyone.
Please i need clarity on something, is it a must to add my spouse in my EE profile?
Can i add her later on after receiving ITA?
What are the implications (asides points) if i remove her in EE profile?

Thank you all
it is not mandatory to add your spouse at any stage if your spouse is unaccompanied and not travelling with you to Canada. However, Presently many people are actually adding their unaccompanied spouse after passing the eligibility stage of the PR process. This does not affect the score, but I’m sure sooner or later IRCC will crack down on this practice, especially for people who are not newly married but initially stated that their spouse was unaccompanied to increase their CRS scores, only to add them later after passing the eligibility stage so the application can be processed together , knowing full well that spouse sponsorship after landing in Canada can take over a year to process sometime.

The mistakes have already been made, and it's not the time to blame me for them. However, it's important to correct my mistakes. I can't get back the money I've spent on the visitor's visa. I'm just trying to find a way out in case I get the visa, to see if it's possible to apply for a master's program there. My friend mentioned that he used his proof of funds for his visitor's visa and then applied for school right after arriving. That's why we're here to correct and learn from little mistakes. I appreciate your concern.
I’m not blaming you, as we are all learning, and nobody has a monopoly on information. But firstly, did your friend apply for a Master's program inside Canada or at a school offering a PGWP (Post-Graduation Work Permit)? This is important because colleges in Canada fall into different categories, and applying to a college without a PGWP, without adequate planning, is risky. So, do your research well. Proof of funds (POF) for a visitor visa is different from that for a student visa, and the requirements vary for single applicants and families. plus balance ur tuition fee Moreover, things are changing rapidly in Canada, so stay updated and plan carefully.

Hahaha, that's true! It seems like that's how things are in Nigeria. I'm doing well here too, but the economy is really tough. I have a house, a car, and a business, but it's not easy at all. I'm making these sacrifices for my children. My plan is to use a visitor visa to get to Canada, and then I'll apply for school. I can study while my wife works. I didn't go for a student visa because of the proof of funds and initial deposit issues, but I believe it will be easier to secure a visitor visa for my family considering my business and assets. Don't blame us; some of us believe it's better to struggle abroad than to be broke in Nigeria, especially when you were once doing well. The government's decisions are really hitting my business hard. We're praying that in our quest to make money, we won't lose more and that we won't regret our choices. God should guide and direct our steps. What seems difficult for others will be easy for us!
So, you believe that once you secure a Canada visitor visa and land in Canada, you can apply for a student visa without needing proof of funds or a deposit? Please, that is a 100% false assumption. Applying for a student visa, whether inside or outside Canada, is the same process. In fact, it can be even more expensive and difficult from inside Canada because you will still need to provide all the necessary requirements, including the deposit required by the school and proof of funds for visa application . Additionally, your spouse cannot simply work in Canada because you are a student—this privilege is exclusive to Master's and PhD students, as well as some selected degree programs. Furthermore, some spouses of Master's students who apply for a spouse open work permit are still being rejected. So, plan well to avoid being stranded with incorrect information!

Pls is Canada still a good option for PR, I hear no jobs and live is bad for Nigerians there. Is this the case ?
Relocating to Canada can be a worthwhile decision if approached with realistic expectations. Currently, the job market is very challenging for newcomers and resident too due to competition from high levels of migration, limited job creation, and a high cost of living. Many immigrants begin with survival jobs or roles outside their expertise while building connections and gaining Canadian work experience.

It’s crucial to avoid unrealistic expectations. Settling in, securing a suitable job, and adjusting to the new environment require time, effort, and patience. Success often means being flexible, willing to shift careers, or obtaining additional certifications to meet local standards.

The primary focus should be on achieving stability—earning to live and cover expenses, rather than expecting immediate financial success or wealth. With persistence, adaptability, and an open mindset, Canada can provide a safe and supportive environment to build a better life, not wealth!

This is not the first time someone has advised the person to calm down because he/she has shown signs of desperation, from applying for a USA visa to a Canada visa after a previous student visa refusal with over 34 password reset on usa visa section . However, I would advise anyone who is spending so much time and energy on a visitor visa that, even if you are eventually granted one, please review the current IRCC laws and update before boarding the plane to Canada so you don’t end up stranded. Some changes have already been made, such as the fact that there is no longer an option to convert from a visitor visa to a work permit. Additionally, the asylum route, which many have been using, is about to face critical changes soon. I wish everyone the best of luck in the Canada visit visa race !

Please house a friend needs help, does anyone know any way or loop hole he can convert his visit visa to work visa without stepping out of the country. Also, he applied for visitor visas extension already and waiting for a decision, if he must stop out now that he has an LMIA when there has not been a response won’t it be counted against him?
If ur friend has already applied for a visa extension, also means the applicant have already spent about five months in Canada. A visitor record can either be granted or denied. If it is granted, it simply means the visitor visa has been extended, which still does not provide the opportunity to work. There is no 'loop' that would allow for work authorization, so do not pay anyone for an LMIA, because Ottawa announced on August 28, 2024, that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has ended a temporary public policy that allowed visitors to apply for a work permit from within Canada, effective immediately. What many people are doing now is claiming asylum, but as the immigration minister mentioned on Monday regarding changes coming to Canadian immigration, asylum seekers will face more difficulties as new rules are set to be introduced and the student route not cheap!

Your comment is reasonable. I am not here to make an unnecessary braging since I wont earn a trophy here. You can't even recognise me if I meet you at the Montreal Airport. I am only here so that people can make the right and informed decision. Those they mentioned had applied before September 1. Even if you applied on August 30, you still benefit from the temporary policy.

Having a visit visa and return to Nigeria after your authorized stay as a visitor is a POSITIVE factor. Once you apply for your study permit from outside after your returned visit, Chinnok will flag you to the officer as a 'trusted applicant". You see the recent approval. The couple came to Canada on visit and they respected the condition of their stay based on Section 179(1)(b) of the IRPR. They are trusted applicants.

Then why turning a positive factor to a neutral factor with this advice they are giving to you?
Hello, let’s not misrepresent or make it seem like it is wrong or illegal to apply for a study permit while on a visitor visa. It is not asylum, and you are not breaking any law. If you arrive in Canada on a visitor visa and, during your stay, you discover a course you’re passionate about, you have every right to apply for a study permit.

The process typically involves paying tuition fees, completing your medical exam, providing proof of funds (POF), and submitting your application. Even after your visa is approved, you will need to visit the border to pick up your study permit, where you may be subjected to more questioning.

This transition is entirely 100% lawful and not equivalent to overstaying or seeking asylum. However, it is worth noting that processing a study permit from within Canada is often more expensive. For instance, compare the cost of medical tests in Lagos versus Toronto, and you will understand the difference.

I personally know individuals who successfully transitioned from a visitor visa to a study permit while on visit visa without any family or relation in canada , as well as others whose applications were rejected. Those who were denied simply left Canada and retained their visitor visa status.

As of today, transitioning from a visitor visa to a study permit is a legitimate and legal process. Only the transition from a visitor visa to a closed work permit via LMIA has been stopped. I don’t see why this is a point of argument—it’s just due process under the law.

I'm simply telling people to look at the whole picture. Again, ignorance is not an excuse. If jumping from naija to Canada, why doesn't this person do the full research ? If they did, they'd know nothing is guaranteed anywhere you go, and there may be a chance you'll never practice X (insert profession) in Canada.

My friend let's stop playing games and be direct. A typical Nigerian coming to Canada for example, wants the big boy title, then the money. I'm saying nobody cares about the big boy title in Canada. Chase your objectives not your dreams. That objective is making money and having a better quality of life. The superior complex ingrained in a typical Nigerian is showing in this post.

That "floor cleaner" is a professional building service attendant. He earns 100k in Canada, lives in a better house than 99% of doctors in naija, holds a Canadian passport, and when you compare cost of living; that doctor in naija is living in poverty compared to that "floor cleaner".

That Uber driver can package his skills and become a professional driver, while moving out of Toronto. He can work for the TTC or any municipal transit driver and make up to 100k per year with a government gold plated pension. But they'd never take that advice because they're too busy looking for a "Better career opportunities", aka trying to impress people who don't feed them or their family.

I don't understand how my family is part of this discussion, yet I'm projecting ? Not all your family members are perfect sir. You can't migrate to Canada if you come from poverty. Supportive family with different aspirations and "expectations". Just say you're too insecure to work certain jobs because of what your family would think of you. Again I repeat, the same family that doesn't feed you here in Canada.

My past hardship has allowed me to put things in perspective at all times. Again I repeat. Ignorance is no longer an excuse with most people having access to the internet. And Canada owes you absolutely nothing. If you don't know how to hustle in Canada or you can't make it in Canada, just say so. Stop trying to blame the system. Nigerians never look at themselves in the mirror.
Based on your advice, if a doctor or professional engineer ,accountant etc arrives in Canada and cannot find a job, their best option is to join Uber as a driver, then move on to becoming a professional driver or cleaner. You also suggest that seeking better career opportunities is considered "trying to impress people," according to your explanation.

Please stop spreading misinformation—there’s no way a cleaner will earn $100k unless they own their own company, have many contracts, and are managing a team. You can dislike your country or family, but don’t exaggerate your points.

To those just arriving, be careful about jumping into the Uber business with your life savings to buy a car. Please do some research—it’s no longer a viable full-time job. Don’t let anyone deceive you.

Stop it. The criticism stems from self entitlement. That's the problem. Canada, like every developed nation, gives you opportunities and the tools to achieve your objectives. Objectives and dreams are two different things. You're ready to compete in naija, but once you land in Canada you expect things to happen for you ?

Lastly we live in the information age. Ignorance is not an excuse anymore. You don't leave your home country if things are going well for you. Look at things as a whole. That taxi driver in Canada is making more money, and lives a better life than that doctor when he was back home. That doctor who just came abroad is still sitting there, crying that he was a doctor back home.
Comparing an Uber delivery driver in Toronto, whose wages barely cover their bills—as evidenced by the recent protests by uber drivers in the city—to a doctor in another country is simply unfair. I’ve followed your posts for a while, and in one of them, you even compared a floor cleaner in Canada earning more than a bank manager in Nigeria without even comparing the cost of living . It’s clear that your perspective is heavily influenced by your experience of living in abject poverty in Nigeria. However, arriving in Canada, working as an Uber driver, and living on minimum wage doesn’t give you the right to criticize others who came here with professional qualifications, striving for better career opportunities, even if they’ve faced challenges or disappointment along the way.

You’ve also shared in your posts that you come from a "wicked" family that sabotaged your business back home. While that’s unfortunate, not everyone shares those experiences. Many of us come from decent, supportive families with different aspirations and expectations. Please stop projecting your childhood and adult trauma, pain, struggles, and the abject poverty you escaped onto every situation. Your past hardships shouldn’t become the standard by which you measure others’ success or ambitions in life.

Everyone’s journey is unique, and respecting that diversity is essential.

It is not a black and white issue as you are making it sound. The government brings in people based on the qualifications and experiences they said they have and whether they really have that skills they claim will be tested by employers once they arrive.
A lot of immigrants parading excellent resumes claiming years of experience may not be actually as good as they claim ooo. Some claim years of experience but can't pass intermediate level coding tests.
I used to think probation was mere formality, once you get a job, you no get wahala again. I didn't know it was a serious issue. Last week in my organization, a senior developer was fired after his probation and it was the 3rd time I'm seeing someone asked to go after probation. This developer was making too many mistakes that even entry level developers will likely not make but he claimed to have 7 years experience from his country. At the end, the team lost confidence in him as he was dragging everyone back and they had no choice than to let him go at the end of his probation. When you see him driving uber tomorrow, you will think there is no job but the problem is actually him. My worry is that the hiring manager would probably want to poach someone from a rival company and pay him more money instead of gambling with immigrants whose experience is outside the country cos of this experience

I have referred someone who got an interview but couldn't answer basic questions for someone who claim to have years of experience. At the end, he didn't get the job but he started blaming me for not telling him what the hiring manager will ask, how? Am I the hiring manager? How could you not answer basic questions on something you claimed you did?

If you are not well grounded in your skills and experience, it is going to be difficult, your years of experience count for nothing if you can't demonstrate your skills and capabilities especiallyin the tech space. Interviews are mostly thorough so you may not pass sef especially if it is an intermediate or senior role. So there may be jobs, the question is do you have what it takes to get it?
Based on your assumption, the majority of new immigrants are not getting jobs in Canada because they are not qualified, even though the jobs are available. So, it's not a case of job unavailability... CASE CLOSED!
