nwaobitex:You can learn French anywhere and sit for the TEF exam. For the French-language category draws, you do not need three years of work experience. One year of work experience in a TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 job is enough, as long as you meet the language requirements , WITH minimum bsc ,you will get nomination to apply PR . Please research the French-language category draws properly. Many Nigerian students are stranded in Canada due to high tuition fees, and studying in Canada does not guarantee PR. Do your research and think about it carefully. Working and studying at the same time to pay huge tuition fees can sometimes become impossible ,some students go as long as six to nine months without finding a job. It can quickly become overwhelming and stressful. |
nwaobitex:Please, instead of spending that money on a master’s degree, consider using it to study French in Togo or the Republic of Benin and aim to land in Canada as a PR holder. Education in Canada is not cheap ..the french category draw is great chance to get PR |
fastcars0000:It’s easy to blame the visa officer and call them inhuman, but the reality is that many of our own people have misused the visa system. We rank among the top offenders for overstaying visas, submitting fake documents, presenting bogus bank statements (sometimes even with the backing of banks), and filing false asylum claims. India is now facing a similar challenge, with visa rejection rates rising. That’s why we must take responsibility and acknowledge our role in creating this situation. Also, keep in mind that visa officers look at more than just your bank balance. They may assess factors like your travel history, your wife’s status in Canada, and even her status at the time your child was born. For example, did she arrive in Canada already pregnant, or did she travel back and forth before giving birth? Your child is now 2 years old, yet your wife could easily board a plane to visit you in Nigeria or even travel to London ,Dubai or Turkey.if money weren’t an issue. These are the kinds of details that can shape an officer’s decision. And if she is already a permanent resident, the question also arises: why are you applying for a visitor visa instead of qualifying for residency yourself? |
Judasiscarriot:Please let your wife arrive in Canada first, get her COPR stamped or receive her PR card, and obtain her SIN number. After that, she can file for your PR under spousal sponsorship. Do not take the risk of doing it before she lands. A word is enough for the wise. |
NewBob:Please, add an accompanying Spouse is not change in family composition after COPR and it not same as adding new born or newly married as it pure way to manipulate the system which many people did in the past but things have change now ! let’s be careful how we give advice online so we don’t mislead people. Currently, IRCC is being strict with the approach of adding an accompanying spouse after receiving an ITA before landing in Canada AS pr holder . It’s better to let people first arrive in Canada and then use the spousal sponsorship route. This is because, recently within the past two months IRCC has started recalculating CRS scores when accompanying spouse is added before landing. Please, let’s not mislead people. Getting an ITA is not easy these days, and losing it due to impatience would be very painful.

Mojimade:Firstly, do not indicate a 4-month stay on your visitor visa application. A shorter duration such as 15 days during the Christmas and New Year holiday is more reasonable and advisable while applying now and staying xmas holiday as reason do not mean the visa cannot be issue sooner and If you are truly well-established in your home country, it would be unusual to take a 4-month trip abroad simply for a visit away from work etc , as this may raise concerns about your intent to return and if you truly well established at home. Additionally, consider your husband’s current situation. He has been in Canada for over a year and is currently studying. As a student, he is only permitted to work up to 24 hours per week. A visa officer may question how he can financially sponsor your visit especially for an extended stay given these limitations. If you plan to submit his bank statement, it is crucial to clearly explain the source of the funds in the letter of invitation, particularly if the funds are not earned in Canada. If your husband cannot demonstrate sufficient financial capacity, it is advisable to include the following supporting documents: His proof of enrolment, tuition payment receipts, and expected program completion date; A letter of invitation and proof of accommodation; His bank statement, along with your own bank statement, to show combined or additional financial strength. Most importantly, emphasize your strong ties to Nigeria, such as: A valid employment letter; Your bank statement showing financial stability; Property documents (if available); Any family responsibilities or ongoing commitments that demonstrate your intent to return after your visit. You should also ensure that the employment details you provide are consistent with those used in your previous student visa application. Consistency is crucial ,any conflicting information or discrepancies in your work history or application could be considered misrepresentation, which can seriously affect the outcome of your application. |
Mojimade:Personally l believe it’s not advisable for both husband and wife to study in Canada at the same time especially with today’s high cost of education and uncertain immigration benefits. While both of you may be eligible for a PGWP it make no sense becos the spouse can still get sowp while the spouse is on pgwp your main focus as a family should be on building a path to Permanent Residency (PR), not taking on double expenses and stress. Since your study permit has already been refused three times, it’s better to stop reapplying. Repeated refusals can hurt your profile even more. Instead, allow your husband to complete his 2 years studies, get a 3-year PGWP, and secure a job (TEER 0 occupation; TEER 1 occupation; or Select TEER 2 and 3 occupations.) He can then sponsor you for a Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP)—a far more stable and realistic route. You can try a visitor visa, but approval is around 50/50—especially with past refusals. To improve your chances, submit: Strong proof of ties to your home country Letter of explanation showing your visit is temporary Proof of funds: at least $4,000–$6,000 CAD Husband’s documents (study permit, letter of invitation, proof of accommodation, marriage certificate) For SOWP later, plan for $10,000–$12,000 CAD in proof of funds. You can apply again anytime but prepare well in your new application for visitor visa. Many students, especially in Ontario, are now stranded or with expiring PGWPs soon and no PR pathway. After all the stress and investment, many will be forced to return home. AS a Raise in student claiming asylum due to finance and no pr pathway a bill is already in Parliament that may bar anyone who has spent over a year in Canada from claiming asylum and surely the target are mostly student . This reflects growing pressure on the system so it’s more important than ever to plan wisely.so you and ur husband should start researching the pr pathway and not get carried away with the 3 years pgwp becos time run fast in Canada so please also Focus on a stable PR strategy through your husband’s path. Avoid rejections and short-term fixes. Stay strong and make informed moves. 💙 |
Victor982002:Since you're applying for a canada student visa, you should visit the canada student visa section on Nairaland. Other students there will be able to share ideas and experiences with you. https://www.nairaland.com/7776621/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/638 |
TonyC247:Firstly, I want to ask: what was your initial plan and thought when you applied for the Canadian visit visa? you plan relocating to canada on visit visa? Also, are you aware of the Express Entry program? I personally know people who have similar qualifications—just an OND/HND, under the age of 28, with strong IELTS scores—who successfully moved to Canada as permanent residents through that pathway. I just want to remind you that education in Canada is very expensive. The idea of “work and study” is often a misconception. In reality, it is extremely difficult to cover tuition fees and living expenses while studying without external support . I noticed you’re considering a Master’s program, but it seems like you haven’t fully thought through the financial implications yet. Please, take your time and do proper research before applying for any visa. I also saw you’re active on UK forums. Just so you know, the world is moving beyond the mindset of “just get a visa.” You need a long-term, sustainable plan. Some students are currently stranded in the UK and Canada. Things are not as rosy as many make them seem. A lot of people hide their struggles. That’s why it’s so important to plan wisely and realistically. |
Kenn55:Exactly and that’s the real issue.Disagreement is not the same as hate. Choosing not to endorse something or an act doesn’t mean you wish harm on anyone. But the moment you say, “I don’t support this, but you have the free will and freedom to live how you choose as long as it doesn’t infringe on my rights,” you’re immediately labelled as homophobic and that’s simply unfair!! |
Sheron50:A white lady who works with me do not attend the annual office Christmas party or any celebration. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms protects her right to make this decision because it guarantees freedom of conscience and religion. The law does not require employees to participate in social or cultural events including holiday celebrations so no one can force them to attend. She remains free from any form of penalty or discrimination or adverse treatment because she has the right to decide not to attend. |
amnotapervert:Your argument fails to consider essential facts which results in an inaccurate representation. Highly qualified Nigerian immigrants encounter three major obstacles when entering Canada including systemic bias and lack of professional networks and the requirement for Canadian work experience. The advice to "come prepared" fails because the system operates unfairly. The achievement of success depends on more than certification alone. Also, population differences matter. According to the 2021 census data Canada hosts 1.86 million Indians and 1.7 million Chinese residents but only 112,000 Nigerians. The number of permanent resident admissions from India and China remained the highest during the period from 2015 to 2023. The Canadian government accepted 139,715 Indians and 31,765 Chinese and 17,445 Nigerians as permanent residents during 2023. So yes , you see more Indians and Chinese in workplaces because their communities are much larger, not because Nigerians aren’t prepared. Let’s stop blaming individuals and start addressing the structural challenges they face. |
hunee:Yes, to be honest Jobs aren’t easy to get here, especially for newcomers. Many are stuck in survival jobs with no way up.Don’t believe the hype Canada isn’t what it used to be.This is 2025, and things have gotten worse. The economy, like many others globally, is struggling.Even skilled workers are jobless or underpaid.Reality here is tough.plan wisely.i wish you good luck! |
sparrow76:Firstly, you need to book an appointment before going for your biometric capture. The biometric letter is available on your profile After your appointment is booked, you can travel to Lagos with your biometric letter, your appointment slip or confirmation letter, and your passport The biometric centre is located at: Visa Application Centre, Ground Floor, The Manor, Plot 110, Admiral Ayinla Way, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, Nigeria. https://visa.vfsglobal.com/nga/en/can/book-an-appointment |
abbeylfc:This is most likely a scam. The “V” in your application number means it’s a visitor visa, not a work permit. Your agent likely misled you. VFS is only responsible for biometrics — after that, only IRCC handles your application, so don’t expect any update from VFS. Also, who gave you a job without an LMIA? Most real job offers in Canada require one. Be careful . this situation has many signs of fraud. |
Pammy25:Firstly, are you a Canadian resident or citizen? What is the reason for applying and reapplying for a visitor visa for your younger sister, and then suddenly planning to switch to a student visa? Just so you're aware, the student visa route is neither cheap nor an easy pathway to visa approval or permanent residency, so if you're planning to go with the student visa option, make sure you’re well-prepared. |
Olacalm11:What you got in 3 days is not a GCMS note, because GCMS usually takes 20 days or more. What you received might be a refusal letter instead, but that’s usually sent as a notification via email, asking you to check your portal |
Olacalm11:One thing you need to understand about the Canada visa process is that anyone can apply for any type of visa — but not everyone will qualify. Just because your agent applied for a work permit visa on your behalf and there was no medical request from IRCC, but a direct refusal instead, that’s a red flag. Also, have you ordered your GCMS notes? To the best of my knowledge, and according to IRCC, you need a valid job offer to be eligible to apply for a work permit under the Agri-Food Pilot Program if you’re applying from outside Canada. But in your case, you don’t have an educational credential assessment (ECA) or IELTS test results — so why is your agent wasting your time and money with lies!
|
Olacalm11:First question:Please check the top of your refusal letter OR biometric letter and let us know what letter your application number starts with. The application number usually begins with a letter followed by 9 digits. Here's what each letter indicates: E**...** Express Entry PR applications EP**...** PNP-related applications (non-Express Entry) W**...** Work Permit applications S**...** Study Permit applications V**...** Visitor Visa or Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) applications Please reply with the first letter of your application number ? |
Olacalm11:Go to youtube and search How to Apply for GCMS Note (GCMS Online Application Guide - 2024) #gcms #canadavisa by Chino Charles TV The guy make a short a step by step guide how to order gcms note .....and please use ur email and not the agent email so the note will be send to your email. if you have any question you can ask
|
Olacalm11:YOur UCI number and application number are on your bio etric form .....one start with 11-0000-0000. AND THE application number start with V for visitor V000000. LOOK AT it very well and reply then l can guide you step by step to order ur gcms note and you see what you agent submited |
Olacalm11:This is a scam. Your agent applied for a visit visa or business visa for you, not a work or PR application. There is no such thing as a "Canada-affiliated medical centre " where you can bypass medical requirements or medical done in absent. He also did not submit an IELTS or WES evaluation. The $1,500 you paid was just a waste of money. please if you have your biometric slip then try to order ur gcms note and see the application tender on your behalf and l hope the agent has not submitted fake document that could lead to a ban...so sad! |
maziemeka2024:It's really sad to see some of the recent refusals. They should let people know their chances ahead of time instead of wasting their money. However, I don't entirely blame them because our people tend to overdo things. There are individuals seeking asylum in Canada who have a history of holding UK student permits and visit visas, so it's no longer new to them. |
Olacalm11:the current processing time is about 4 months to 5 months maximum or less |
lexicalel:There’s a current challenge situation with applicants from Nigeria, as many granted visas for visits or conferences end up overstaying or making asylum claims. This has caused Nigeria to be labelled as the third-largest source of Canada visa overstays, making visa approval rates stricter and refusal rate very high .. While you’ve travelled extensively, clarifying where you’ve travelled can help strengthen your application. For your visa application their are many video on youtube to guide you step by step on how to apply business/visit visa , complete the process on the IRCC website, providing documents like your passport, proof of employment, travel itinerary, invitation letter for the retreat, and financial proof. Your sponsors should provide an invitation letter, sponsorship confirmation, and proof of their legitimacy. Regarding your previous visa denial, be transparent about it, explain the circumstances, and highlight your positive travel history since then. Emphasize strong ties to Nigeria, like landed properties and remote work, to show you’ll return after the retreat. However, to be honest, with over 13,000 Nigerians who arrived in Canada last year (2024) within eight months to claim asylum, we are likely to see a massive refusal rate for a long time. It’s quite sad! |
Olacalm11:Please call IRCC + 1 800 267 67 88 and ask for an update about your application, as every application is unique. Submitting on the same day or same pilot program does not mean it will be processed by the same office or processing officer. |
jedisco:Sorry, but you cannot defend Carney for the bad job he has done – it’s obvious. Also, we hope he will refund the $500,000 taxpayers’ money he used for the overseas trip to Europe shortly after his selection as PM a few weeks ago!! |
vhickky:Former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss criticized Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, saying, "He did a terrible job as governor of the Bank of England, creating many issues. Under his leadership, inflation soared, the economy struggled, and the central bank’s policies were often misguided, which contributed to significant economic instability. Carney’s lack of foresight and understanding of the market left the UK vulnerable to rising costs, undermining public trust in the financial system. you can appreciate his debate but i will never vote for a person with this type of profile ...Noooooo!!!! |
Predator188:Are you now into student recruitment? Because some of your arguments are based on sentiment rather than fact. With the current projected figures, more than half of temporary residents in Canada will not get PR—take it or leave it. Please look at the data yourself and see how many students will be without PR this year, still with no option. Do you think everyone can manage arranged employment, which is not even cheap? I would not advise people to fall for the PGWP offer for 4-year BSc courses that fall into management programs, which are not cheap. You will struggle to find work, even for those who finish earlier and are looking for arranged employment to gain the work experience needed for PR. Please educate people to focus on the Express Entry route to get PR instead of rushing into the expensive student route. We can see that many students are facing difficulties paying those huge fees and are uncertain about the pathway to PR. I know HND/ND students who arrived via Express Entry as PRs from Nigeria, and some older individuals who learned French and got ITA with a lower CRS score. So, why the rush to enter a college or university in Canada, which the majority cannot even afford. |
Stonehenge83:Your CEC gave you an ITA, but the work experience from Nigeria under self-employment is still added to your points. It’s possible that some documents are missing, or the officer may not be convinced enough by the documents you uploaded, which could have led the officer to call for a review. This can easily be passed, or an ADR (Additional Document Request) could be made for more documentation. Don’t compare your application to others, as no two applications are the same. The processing time still remains 6 months, so you’re still within the processing time. |
KodakBlack:You can't renew your biometrics after your visa is approved. Biometrics renewal is only possible when you applied the visa or while your visa application is still being processed. |
maternal:Do you live in a place like Ellesmere Island, a remote island in Nunavut, or somewhere else? ![]() |
