Wolverhampton Wanderers’ recuperating goalkeeper, Carl Onuoha Ikeme has gained support from an unlikely source, as the enter team of Iceland have publicly displayed their backing in his fight against leukemia.

In a move that was apparently ignited by Ikeme’s former teammate at Wolves, Jon Dadi Böðvarsson, Iceland defied undercurrents of their impending crucial World Cup clash with the Super Eagles on Friday to show solidarity with the Nigerian keeper.

Böðvarsson posted a picture of the entire Iceland team and an official holding a shirt with Ikeme’s name on it, with his mates from the Nordic Nation surrounding him.

The 26-year-old Böðvarsson recorded 48 appearances for Wolves two seasons ago, scoring three goals, while Ikeme was in goal for 33 games in all competitions.

Ikeme, who would have been the Eagles first choice in Russia, was diagnosed with acute leukemia during a pre-season routine medical check-up at his club in England.

In continuation of global support for the shot-stopper, the Eagles’ next World Cup Group D foes have backed Ikeme to beat the disease and battle back to full soccer activity.

The show of support comes few days before Iceland face Nigeria in Volgograd on Friday in continuation of the World Cup in Russia.

Writing on Twitter, Böðvarsson, who was not utilized off the bench in Iceland’s impressive 1-1 draw with Argentina on Saturday, stated: ”All of us in @footballiceland are with you @Carl_Ikeme ��❤.”

A woman who has been missing since Thursday was found dead inside a python on the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia.

The incident occurred on June 14, 2015 when 54-year-old Wa Tiba went to check her garden. By Friday morning, Wa Tiba was not yet home, so residents and police went in search of her.

Local media reported today that villagers and authorities in Southeast Sulawesi province found the woman’s belongings but didn’t see her.

They eventually found a python that was so swollen and couldn’t move so they suspected it might have swallowed her.

“The villagers who were suspicious brought the python back to the village and cut it open. She was found dead inside the snake with the body intact,” local police chief Agus Ramos said.
