Maintaining a healthy diet is essential irrespective of the fact if a person is pregnant or not. But there is no doubt that the key nutrients that come from whole foods are important for the development of the baby's brain. According to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, some foods have proven to be filled with nutrients that are important for the development of a baby. They also have the nutritious power to improve the mental health of the babies and strengthen their memory too, when these foods are included in diet during pregnancy. 1. SPINACH According to the George Matelijan Foundation's analysis, spinach tops the list of nutrient-rich foods. It contains vitamin A, Vitamin C, iron, fibres, calcium and folic acid. The high content of iron is the main reason one should include spinach in their diet. Anaemia is a common problem during pregnancy that can persist even after the birth of the child. Extra iron helps in the development of the baby's red blood cells and ensures the transfer of oxygen to the baby's brain cells. 2. BANANAS Bananas have been considered the super foods for pregnant women. Women can carry them in their purses and have them even on the go to their workplace. Bananas are rich in potassium, lipids, iron, calcium, phosphorus and iron which fight off the terrible pregnancy fatigue that drains the body by the middle of the day. They are also known to prevent premature labour, and high blood pressure, help in indigestion and increase immunity. One can eat them plain or add them to their yoghurts, smoothies or salads! 3. SALMON Salmon is a rich source of Omega-3 fatty acids, especially Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA), which plays a vital role in the development and proper functioning of the brain. DHA is also a structural fatty acid present in the nervous system which makes it essential for brain development. Deep frying of the fish may result in the loss of Omega-3 fatty acids. That is why it is important to bake, broil or steam them before eating. 4. EGGS Egg yolk is a rich source of choline which is the main component of cell mass and cell membrane. Eggs are also responsible for acetylcholine which carries messages through nerves. That is why eggs have proven to be beneficial for the development and memory-related functions of the brain. Though raw eggs have higher choline content which gets destroyed while cooking, it is advised that eggs be cooked before consumption to prevent food poisoning. 5. LEAN MEAT lean meat filled with zinc and iron is said to be very beneficial for pregnant women. Low levels of zinc hinder the memory-related functions of the brain. Iron helps in the transfer of oxygen to the brain and keeps anaemia at bay. Iron deficiency can be dangerous for both the mother and the baby. It is better to stir fry, bake or roast the meats rather than deep frying or cooking them in spices and gravy. 6. DAIRY PRODUCTS Dairy products: Milk, cheese and yoghurt are filled with calcium and high-quality protein like whey and casein. According to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, calcium is not only important for the development of teeth and bones but also plays a major role in the electrical signalling that takes place within the brain. It is important for the overall development of the baby and should be included in the diet. 7. AVOCADOES They are full of healthy fats, antioxidants, iron, Vitamin C and Vitamin B-6. They help to fight against the morning sickness that causes fatigue for the rest of the day and help in the absorption of nutrients from other fruits and vegetables. Half a cup of avocado contains 22 milligrams of choline which plays a vital role in the development of red blood cells, and the fetal brain and fights anemia as well. 8. NUTS AND SEEDS They are filled with protein, essential fatty acids, iron, zinc, vitamin E, vitamin B and other groups of vitamins that have proved to be important for the development and functioning of the brain as well the neurological system. The fibre present in them aids in digestion. Walnuts filled with DHA, a type of Omega-3 acids improve the brain's performance and prevent any cognitive diseases. 9. SALT Salt is rich in iodine and iodine is required by the thyroid for the production of triiodothyronine and thyroxine hormones for both babies and women. Iodine plays a major role in the development of the baby's cerebral cortex, hippocampus, cerebellum, and visual and auditory cortex. Since the thyroid of the baby doesn't develop up to 20 weeks the iodine consumed through the mother's food helps in the development of the brain. A menstrual cup is a type of reusable feminine hygiene product. It’s a small, flexible funnel-shaped cup made of rubber or silicone that you insert into your vagina to catch and collect period fluid. Cups can hold more blood than other methods, leading many women to use them as an eco-friendly alternative to tampons. Depending on your flow, you can wear a cup for up to 12 hours. If you’re interested in using a menstrual cup, talk with your gynaecologist. Although you can buy any of the brands online or in most stores, you’ll first have to find out what size you need. Most menstrual cup brands sell small and large versions. To figure out the right menstrual cup size for you, you and your doctor should consider: your age length of your cervix whether or not you have a heavy flow firmness and flexibility of the cup cup capacity strength of your pelvic floor muscles if you’ve given birth vaginally Smaller menstrual cups are usually recommended for women younger than 30 years old who haven’t been delivered vaginally. Larger sizes are often recommended for women who are over 30 years old, have given birth vaginally, or have a heavier period. When you use a menstrual cup for the first time, it may feel uncomfortable. But “greasing” your cup can help make the process smooth. Before you put it in your cup, lubricate the rim with water or a water-based lube (lubricant). A wet menstrual cup is much easier to insert. Let us proceed to how to put in your menstrual cup Just follow these steps to use a cup: Wash your hands thoroughly. Apply water or a water-based lubricant to the rim of the cup. Tightly fold the menstrual cup in half, holding it in one hand with the rim facing up. Insert the cup, rim up, into your vagina like you would a tampon without an applicator. It should sit a few inches below your cervix. Once the cup is in your vagina, rotate it. It will spring open to create an airtight seal that stops leaks. You shouldn’t feel your menstrual cup if you’ve inserted the cup correctly. You should also be able to move, jump, sit, stand, and do other everyday activities without your cup falling out. If you’re having trouble putting in your cup, speak with your doctor. Now let us answer the question: When must I take my menstrual cup out You can wear a menstrual cup for 6 to 12 hours, depending on whether or not you have a heavy flow. This means you can use a cup for overnight protection. You should always remove your menstrual cup by the 12-hour mark. If it becomes full before then, you’ll have to empty it ahead of schedule to avoid leaks. Now, let us talk about how to take your menstrual cup out To take out a menstrual cup, the first thing you need to do is Wash your hands thoroughly. Place your index finger and thumb into your vagina. Pull the stem of the cup gently until you can reach the base. Pinch the base to release the seal and pull down to remove the cup. Once it’s out, empty the cup into the sink or toilet. Menstrual Cup aftercare Reusable menstrual cups should be washed and wiped clean before being reinserted into your vagina. Your cup should be emptied at least twice a day. Reusable menstrual cups are durable and can last for 6 months to 10 years with proper care. Throw away disposable cups after the removal Advantages of using a menstrual cup Many women choose to use menstrual cups because: They’re budget friendly. Menstrual cups are safer. Menstrual cups hold more blood. They’re eco-friendly. You can have sex. You can wear a cup with an IUD. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=du3cfsedGlc |

Studies have shown that women who exercise during pregnancy are more likely to have an uncomplicated vaginal delivery and a quicker recovery post delivery," says Dr. Suman Tewari, OBGYN, Clinical Advisory Board Member at P.volve. Not only is movement great for you, but it's incredible for your baby as well. "Women who exercised during pregnancy showed a lower incidence of complications such as excessive gestational weight gain, gestational diabetes, gestational hypertension, preeclampsia, preterm birth, lower birth weight, cesarean birth and operative vaginal delivery," Dr. Tewari shares. The current recommendation for pregnant and postpartum women is at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity aerobic activity per week. You may have wondered what that lighter patch is that appears on your underwear, or the underwear of someone with whom you are close enough to be rifling through their pants. It's not a sign of dirtiness or bad hygiene to have paler patches in your pants, it's something which happens when the acidity of a perfectly healthy vagina spends time in contact with fabric, and it's particularly noticeable on darker fabrics. Having a (moderately) acidic vagina is protective against unhealthy bacterial and yeast infections. Your pH level will differ over your lifetime, normally at around 3.8-4.5 pH in the years you are menstruating, and slightly above that before puberty and after menopause. This discharge increases during ovulation and pregnancy due to an increase in cervical mucus. So, you don't have to panic about the lighter patches or overwash your underwear. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49W18GodIKY |
