Politics / Biafra Protest: Osinbajo Will Be Held Liable For Any Death - Ohaneze by fuprevibes: 10:09pm On May 29, 2017
- The May 30 sit-home exercise declared by pro-Biafra groups, is generating great buzz

- Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Council (OYC) has said that there are plots by the government to disturb the exercise

- The OYC has said that it will hold the acting president responsible if the any Igbo man is killed in the course of the protest

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council (OYC) has said it will hold Acting President Yemi Osinbajo responsible should anything happen to pro-Biafra agitators as they protest on May 30.

There are fears over alleged plans by security operatives to open fire on the agitators who shall be observing a sit-at-home to mark the 50th year of Biafra declaration.

It is on this premise that the OYC has said that “Ndigbo shall hold Osinbajo responsible as the Acting President of Nigeria should anything happen to any of our youths".

OYC's assertion was made in a press statement made available to journalists, which was signed by the groups’s deputy national president and the national scribe, Dr. Arthur Obiora and Mazi Okwu Nnabuike.

“We shall not take lightly the spilling of the blood of any Igbo man today because these are non-violent agitators and their agitation is protected under every known law.

“As a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo is very much aware of the constitutional rights of these agitators and he should therefore not allow himself to be used as an instrument to suppress lawful expression of opinion.

“He should, as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria call all security agencies to order to ensure that they do not engage in mass murder.

“We have had enough of this mindless killing of our people and we are not going to take it again this time,” OYC said.

The group called on Igbo traders and workers to comply with the sit-at-home order of the pro-Biafra groups, stressing that “the international community is watching; so, if we can show unity as a people, if we can show solidarity with Nnamdi Kanu and Uchenna Madu, the leaders of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, respectively, the United Nations and other international organizations will not just accord us respect but help us in pushing for a referendum.”

The seat-at-home order for May 30 by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is gaining momentum as Maxi Okwu, a top Igbo elder, says he would take part in it.

Okwu, a former national chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), also thanked Acting President Yemi Osinbajo for speaking out the truth at a recent celebration in Abuja to mark the 50th anniversary of the Biafran war.

The Igbo elder further condemned the way former President Olusegun Obasanjo spoke at the event stressing that the retired military general is one of the major problems plaguing Nigeria.

According to him, Nigeria will never know peace until Obasanjo, whom he described as a member of the trioka of evil, leaves the country alone.

NAIJ.com reports that Okwu said he would observe the order by IPOB in celebration of the Biafra day.

“I dare the security agencies to come and beat me for observing in quiet contemplative prayers the memories of Biafran heroes,” he said.

“Love or hate Nnamdi Kanu the man is the issue of the moment. His house in Umuahia seems to have become the new Onuiyi haven of the late 70's,” he added

Politics / $2.1b Arms Deals: Dasuki Intends To Call Former Pres. Goodluck Jonathan As Witne by fuprevibes: 8:11am On Oct 31, 2016
Former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki, who is currently on trial for alleged mismanagement of $2.1 billion arms funds, says he intends to invite former President Goodluck Jonathan as his witness.
Jonathan has in the past condemned the charges against Dasuki, claiming that there is no way the ex-NSA could have stolen about $2.2billion funds for arms.

Dr. Jonathan said:

“We bought warships, we bought aircraft, we bought lots of weapons for the army,” he said in a recent interview at the Oxford Union in the United Kingdom.

Speaking with The Nation correspondent, Mr. Ahmed Raji (SAN), the ex-NSA’s counsel, said Dasuki wanted Jonathan to testify in court on his behalf.
Raji said:

“It will be desirable for Jonathan to testify for the ex-NSA. It will throw greater light into grey areas. And it will serve the interest of Justice. It will be fantastic for him to go to court to testify. Dasuki is an agent of a disclosed and known principal.”

Another member of Dasuki's legal team said:

“With what Jonathan said in London, the only logical thing for him to do is to see it through.

“We want Jonathan to follow-through. If he backs out, it will be bad.” But, in Raji’s view, a political solution will be better than trial because of the “characters involved”. He said: “But, frankly speaking, I pray for a political solution to the problem because of the characters involved.xx

“Both the accused and the government should embrace a political solution to the problem.”

When asked if Dasuki was ready to proffer a political solution, he answered:

“Why not? He is. He added:

”I believe the President is very sincere. He wants to reorganise Nigeria and he deserves the support of all.

“With a political solution, Mr. President will be in good stead to overcome unnecessary distractions in order to succeed. “I pray that everybody will key into his vision and the economic challenges facing the nation.” Those point of advising a political solution is that it will not be “tidy” for Dasuki to mention all those who got money from his office. Among them, said a source, are a prominent traditional ruler in the North, who reportedly got N500 million and a former Head of State. A source, who spoke in confidence, said Dasuki’s defence team was banking on Jonathan’s testimony. The source said: “All is set for the defence of Dasuki, who is still insisting on an open trial to let Nigerians know the beneficiaries of the arms cash.

“One of those who may testify is ex-President Goodluck Jonathan whose remarks in London appeared to be the first phase of the war chest of the ex-NSA.

“You know the ex-NSA said he acted on Jonathan’s instructions in disbursing some of the cash. And from the look of things, the ex-President is now ready to accept responsibility for whatever Dasuki did.

“We believe it has reached a level that Nigerians must know what really happened, how funds were disbursed and who got what. “This is why a secret trial is not a viable option, with the way things are going.”

“So far, we have secured the consent of Jonathan to appear in court for Dasuki. This will make the trial worth it.”

Dasuki had on December 13, 2015 said he disbursed the funds on Jonathan’s instructions.

The ex-NSA said:

“I wish to state as follows: That I have been publicly indicted and any statement may jeopardise my defence. Having been briefed by the EFCC investigators on why I was invited, I will answer the charges in court. As such, I do not wish to make any further statement on the matter.

“That I am aware in November (I cannot remember the exact date), my office requested the CBN to exchange N10billion from the account of the Office of National Security Adviser domiciled in CBN. The money was exchanged at $47m and some Euros which I cannot remember. The exact amount was delivered at my residence.

“The money was for delegates that attended the nomination convention for the PDP. Presidential nomination. The money was paid and sent to Hon. (Waripamowei) Dudafa (SSAP Household) and ADC(C-I-C) for distribution on the instruction of the President.

“Based on the statement of Director of Finance and Administration (Salisu), Ibrahim Wambai, and Yazidu Ibrahim, all the cash (both foreign and local) are usually given to them for official use. “I also noted the statement of Sagir Bafarawa whose company is Dalhatu Investment in which he stated that he received the sum of N4,633,000,000 from the account of the Office of the NSA. I authorised the payment . The money was for vehicles, motorcycles for youth empowerment and women sent to Saudi Arabia. I got the proposal from the President. I do not have the proposal; it should be at the office in the Villa.”

Celebrities / Banky W Shares Special Moment With Mother During Washington Show by fuprevibes: 7:41am On Oct 31, 2016
Bankole Wellington, Nigerian singer popularly known as Banky W, on Friday, sang in front of his parents for the first time in his “adult life”.

The ‘Strong Thing’ singer performed at the Tum Showcase event which held in Washington DC, United States — and his parents were present in the audience.

Banky W, upon sighting his mother trying to take pictures of him, got down from the stage and went to share an embrace with her.

“She’s been praying for me my entire life… If you love your mother, show some love to my mama,” he said, while holding on to her.

“Mummy is it okay? Did I do all right?” he asked, and she responded with a nod of the head.

The singer subsequently took to social media to share a video of the incident.

“Last night’s @tumshowcase was such a great show… but it had a special significance to me cuz it was the first time in my adult life that my parents had ever come to see me perform live.

“While I was wrapping my set up, I noticed Momma W sneaking up through the crowd by the stage to take pictures of me, so I did what any good Momma’s boy would, and went down to embarrass her small. Love her forever,” he wrote.

Politics / Nearly 900 Children Linked To Boko Haram Freed Under Un-army Negotiation by fuprevibes: 3:01pm On Oct 29, 2016
The UN has negotiated the release of nearly 900 children detained by Nigeria’s army and security forces after they have retaken land from Boko Haram militants, a senior official said. The 876 children had been held in the barracks in Maiduguri, UNICEF’S Regional Director for Western and Central Africa, Manuel Fontaine, said after visiting the north-eastern city

It was not immediately clear how long they had been held. However, the army routinely detains civilians who have been living in areas that had been ruled by the insurgents on suspicion that they too might be linked to militant activities. Nonetheless, rights groups said there was no proper legal process for such civilians, including the children. They said that they were not formally charged and some ended up in so-called rehabilitation centres or Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps. The United Nations says children should not be detained. “We fear that there are still kids who are being at least temporarily detained because they are being released from Boko Haram areas by the army but then kept for a while,” Fontaine said. He give no details of the ages of the children or how long they had been at the barracks . It would be recalled that after President Muhammadu Buhari came to power in May 2015, security forces began an offensive. The security force were backed by neighbouring countries, to retake territory from Boko Haram, meaning at least some of the children could have been held for a year or more. There was no immediate comment from the army. Army officials say they need to question civilians to establish whether they have any ties with the militant group, which has been trying for seven years to set up an Islamic state. The security situation remains volatile in Borno and its capital Maiduguri because Boko Haram still stages suicide bombings, often using women or teenagers. Fontaine also said the conflict, which had killed thousands and displaced more than two million, had separated around 20,000 children from their parents, of which 5,000 had since been reunited with families. “Once we get children out, there is a major issue of stigmatisation in the communities. “There is a sense that children who have been associated with Boko Haram for a while, could be, and in some cases we have some evidence, are rejected by community and people around them,” Fontaine said. This was also a problem for the girls freed from the town of Chibok, he said. Nigeria this month negotiated, with the help of Switzerland, the release of 21 of more than 200 girls Boko Haram kidnapped in April 2014

Crime / 3 Year Old Boy Miraculously Survives After His Mum Made The Decision To Take Off by fuprevibes: 2:50pm On Oct 29, 2016
A 29 year old mother, Kerry Askin, whose 3 year old son had been diagnosed with lung cancer was forced to make the heartbreaking decision no parent should ever be faced with.

The mum had been warned that her son, Dylan, who was lying unconscious on the hospital bed, would not survive the rare form of cancer. The cancer had left him critically ill with bacterial pneumonia and caused his major organs to fail.

After the little boy was baptised, his family made the heartbreaking decision to remove him from life support only for him to recover.

According to the story, when Dylan arrived at hospital it was discovered he had two collapsed lungs and was later diagnosed with a form of lung cancer and was given chemotherapy. The following month he developed an infection and had a seizure, which caused him to stop breathing again. He was given CPR by Caroline Blake at Little Nippers nursery when he collapsed.

But, miraculously, the brave tot slowly improved and stunned doctors to be well enough to be released from hospital in April .

Dylan's mum who is from Somersal Close, Shelton Lock, wanted to share the story of Dylan's illness and miraculous recovery. She said:

"Dylan first presented with a single collapsed lung on Christmas Day 2015. He was breathless and distressed at lunch time so after a visit to the walk-in clinic we got rushed to A&E at Derby where they suspected pneumonia at first. "After no improvement, they did an X-ray and discovered the collapse and that his lungs looked unclear and potentially were covered in air-filled cysts.

We were transferred to Nottingham QMC where they did a chest drain to release the air. Dylan, who has two brothers Bryce, aged six and Logan, aged four months, was discharged on January 7, however he had another single collapse on the right side again on four days later. He was discharged again on February 1, but things soon got worse.

"On February 10, he had a double collapse at Little Nippers nursery. His breathing became laboured quickly and I took him into the lobby and called 999 and was told I would get a phone call back.

"He got worse so I called again and stressed the nature of his condition. Then I was just on my third phone all back to them to express how quickly he was deteriorating when he stopped breathing and the wonderful Caroline Blake took over and gave rescue breaths so I could continue on the phone to the paramedic counting his breathing out once he started up again.

"Once we were at Royal Derby Hospital A&E, it was discovered both lungs had collapsed and staff started putting him on the ventilator and putting chest drains in. "A team from QMC came across to fetch him and as we arrived in Nottingham, so did his biopsy results which came back as Pulmonary Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis which is now recognised as cancer, so effectively lung cancer. On Valentine's Day, his tubes were removed."

But Dylan stayed in the hospital because he needed constant chemotherapy and chest drains and on March 18 he developed an infection and had a febrile seizure on the ward which caused him to stop breathing again.
Mrs Askin continued:

"On Good Friday we were told he wasn't going to survive and we had him baptised and all said goodbye. "Myself and his dad, Mike, stayed with him every second and on Saturday morning we made the tough decision to remove life support but once the muscle relaxant was turned off to start the process we discovered he needed more sedation. Upon doing that he slowly improved!

"Finally he was released on April 4 which was mine and Mike's seventh wedding anniversary so again a wonderful gift! He final chest drain was removed on May 20 and we were discharged just over two weeks later."

The self-confessed wizard was heard saying “I was not alone on the journey. There were others with their private jets, but luck ran against me when my fuel finished. The others are in UK now.”

Politics / $2.2bn Fraud: Jonathan Should Be Arrested For His Statement – Lagos APC by fuprevibes: 3:27pm On Oct 28, 2016
tweet

The Nigerian president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan speaks during a press conference German chancellor Angela Merkel during an official visit to Germany in Berlin.

The All Progressives Congress Lagos State Chapter has said anti-graft agencies should arrest former President Goodluck Jonathan for his statement about ex-NSA Sambo Dasuki not stealing $2.2bn.

In a statement by its publicity secretary, Joe Igbokwe on Thursday, the party said the statement proved he knew about the shady deals during his administration.

“To claim that Dasuki and his partners did not steal the arms purchase fund reveals the inner beliefs of Jonathan and explains that he is intrinsically webbed to corruption,” Igbokwe said.

“Even while he is perceived as pathologically corrupt and his regime seen as the most corrupt in Nigeria’s chequered history, one would have expected Jonathan to be cautious in seeking to advance very childish and inadmissible exculpation of his subordinates for glaring acts of corruption.

“We had expected that Jonathan would have striven to water down the lowly impression held of him by Nigerians and the international community by not deciding to be so patronising to clear cases of corruption by his subordinates. But with each day, Jonathan continues to baffle by his chameleonic acts.

“By Jonathan’s cheap defence of Sambo Dasuki, we believe time has come for the security agencies to pick up Jonathan to tell the nation all that he knows of the many cases of corruption that happened under him.”
