Following the success of our Lagos Half Marathon last year, the Lekki-Ikoyi Walk-Run Team is inviting the Nigeria fitness community to join us in the 1st Lagos Half Marathon for 2015. This is the first in the series of Half Marathons and Marathons that we are planning this year.

We encourage you to take on the challenge. Our body can achieve awesome feats if we can trust it by training hard each day while maintaining good nutrition routines.

ARTWORK
Our graphics for the event are ready.

There are five artworks in total. Two are specifically designed for Facebook and Google+ cover pages, while the remaining three are for general use by everyone. For the general-use artworks, we have portrait, landscape, and square artworks. Please refer to their filenames when selecting on your phone or computer so that you can choose the right one. The files have been named for easy selection.

HOW TO USE THE ARTWORKS

1. Please use the Facebook and Google+ cover artworks to update your Facebook and Google+ cover photos, respectively.
2. Use the portrait, landscape, and square artworks to post on your Facebook, Google+, Twitter and Instagram timelines,
3. The square artwork was specially designed for profile pictures or DP. So go ahead to update the profile picture of your IG, Twitter, FB, BBM, Whatsapp, KIK, Keek, etc with the square artwork.
4. Lastly, Kindly ensure that you use the hashtag: #LagosHalfMarathon when posting any update or training activity map relating to the Lagos Half Marathon. We want the hashtag to trend. Yes, we can do it!!

We are a community-based organisation and our success depends on the contribution of everyone. Kindly contribute by helping in the publicity of the #LagosHalfMarathon by updating your Facebook, Google+, Instagram, Twitter, BBM, and Whatsapp profile pictures with square graphics and post on your timelines using the hashtag: #LagosHalfMarathon.

Nike - The World's largest manufacturers of sportwears and gadgets - has announced the 10-km “We Run 2013" - Lagos Run Event which is scheduled to hold on November 16 in Lagos.

According to organisers of the event, the race expected to attract 2,000 runners is to kick off at the Onikan Stadium on Lagos Island and terminates at the main-bowl of Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere.


Speaking at the unveiling ceremony of the logo of the race at the weekend, Head of Nike’s Operations in Nigeria, Keith Lewins, said that the 2,000 runners in Lagos are part of the global 350,000 persons participating in this edition.

“The runners will be part of a global We Run race movement, and will see a total of 350,000 anticipated runners in 2013, take 3 billion strides during the course of the We Run race series. It will forge a new global community of athletes through Nike’s most connected race series yet with innovative Nike+ technology,” stressed Mr Lewins.

While hinting that registration for the race is free, the Nike chief revealed that the first 100 runners to cross the finish line will get a pair of latest Nike shoes.

“The first 100 runners to cross the finish line will get a pair of Nike shoes each while the last 10 persons also will similarly get a pair of shoes respectively,” he noted.

Lagos State Commissioner for Sports, Wahid Enitan-Oshodi, commended Nike for this brilliant initiative, which he believes will promot physical activity and help to get people fit the world over.

“I also wish to express our pride as the government and people of Lagos State for your recognition of the overwhelming energy and vibrancy of Lagos, and choosing it to be part of this worldwide series. Indeed the baton of this worldwide series has been passed to Lagos, and I am confident that we will stage a fun, well organised, colourful and exciting event,” pledged Enitan-Oshodi.
