I just confirmed what the Op said. WoW! who could have done such a wicked thing? |
Am just a bit confused, why the swap in the accounts of Abraham(Ibrahim) sacrificing Isaac; the story read that it was Ismail that he wanted to sacrifice. The beliefs of the muslim vs christains (at least the OT bible) are a bit familiar but at the same time not so familiar. If I can use deductive reasoning, it then means that the beef between the two religion has been long in coming. |

ATTEMPTS by a Nigerian living in Madrid, Spain to earn N3.3 million for smuggling 6.490 kilogrammes of high-grade Brazilian cocaine have hit the rocks as anti-narcotic officials have arrested him. Officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos made the arrest and seizure at the weekend. The 364 wraps of cocaine prepared for ingestion and hidden inside his hand luggage is valued at N72 million. Officials detected the drug during the inward screening of passengers on an Etihad flight. NDLEA Commander at the Lagos Airport, Mr. Hamza Umar gave the name of the 32 year-old suspect as Francis Bawaba. “Our investigation has revealed that the suspect took off from Malpensa, Milan and collected the drug while on transit at Abudhabi. He had given us very useful information that we are already working on,” Hamza said. According to the suspect, his concern was how his pregnant wife and two children would cope while serving punishment for his actions. “This is my first time of smuggling drugs and I was lured with an offer of N3.3 million. I used to work in construction sites in Madrid to earn a living but it has been difficult securing a job since the global economic meltdown. I collected the drug while on transit at Abudhabi on my way from Milan. I never knew that I would be caught here in Nigeria. My plan was to invest the money in business. Since my arrest I have been unable to eat because I do not know how my pregnant wife and two kids will cope without my financial support,” Francis who hails from Imo State lamented. Speaking on the frequent arrests by the Agency, the Chairman, Alhaji Ahmadu Giade assured culprits of maximum penalty for drug trafficking offences. According to him: “The essence of punishment is to correct the offender and deter people from indulging in a crime. Drug trafficking demands stiffer punishment to serve as deterrent because of the high profit it generates. The Agency will continue to ensure that the appropriate punishment is enforced at all times. Stakeholders in the criminal justice system must understand that stringent punishment is crucial to a sustainable victory in the anti-narcotic campaign,” Giade said. The suspect would soon be charged to court. Source www.ngrguardiannews.com/news-metro/132967-ndlea-arrests-madrid-based-nigerian-caught-with-cocaine |

Shock and disbelief could best describe the expression on the face of Kingsley Ifeanyi, on discovering that his kidnap, two months ago, was masterminded by his bosom friend, Jimoh Olalere. Ifeanyi’s kidnap sent fears down the spines of his family and friends around Ibeju-Lekki area, as they wondered why anyone could even think of kidnapping a mere bricklayer. The bubble, however, burst Monday, following the arrest of ten suspected kidnappers by the Lagos State Police command, who have been responsible for series of kidnapping at Ibeju- Lekki and its environs. To the amazement of all, one of the suspects, Jimoh Olalere, confessed to have masterminded Ifeanyi’s kidnap out of jealousy. *Jimoh According to Jimoh, the quarrel started between him and his bosom friend following the sale of two plots of land by the latter and his alleged refusal to part with some money. “ I sold two plots of land to Ifeanyi at the rate of N550,000 each. At the end of the deal, he was supposed to pay me some money because he sold the land at a higher rate to the buyer. When I accosted him, he told me to go to hell that he did not get much from the sale. But that has been the custom in my area. This resulted in a heated argument that almost led to a fight. “After that quarrel, we parted ways. I became angry because he went about telling people all sorts of negative things about me. Besides that, I felt he was carrying himself with so much arrogance and I decided to kidnap him to teach him a lesson. I contacted some of my friends who abducted him and took him to a building behind my house where he stayed for two days before he was taken to another hideout. “While in our custody, I visited his parents who told me that some people had put some calls to them demanding for N3 million for Ifeanyi’s release. Pretending to be helping out, I started speaking with the kidnappers at the end of which we bargained for N500,000 for his release. They gave us a deadline for payment, failure of which they threatened to kill Ifeanyi. During one of the telephone conversations, I told the kidnappers that I would like to speak with Ifeanyi, during which he told his mother where to get the sum of N200,000. His parents added the rest and handed a total of N500,000 to me to take to the kidnappers. I took the money to a designated point around Ibeju -Lekki at midnight and handed it over to one of them. The next day, my friend was released and there was jubilation in his family.” New twist After Ifeanyi’s release, Jimoh stated that he went to the kidnapper’s hideout, only to be given the sum of N32,000. “ I was angry and when I demanded to know why I should be given that peanut, they said they were more than ten, whereas , we were nine in number. I got angry and threatened to reject the money but they dared me threatening that even if I exposed them that I would also be implicated. Out of frustration, I left there with the N32,000 that was not even enough for me to meet my family’s immediate need. To be honest, I did not do it for money, I only did it to teach him a lesson because he is very proud.” The father of four later became sober, apparently regretting his action. In an emotion- laden tone, he said, “ Now, I have brought shame to my family, particularly my children. It will be better for me to die and forget about the shame than to live and keep atoning for my sin. I really do not know how to face my friend, his family, my wife and children,“ the 40-year-old Oyo state- born said, shaking his head in regret. Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, in Lagos State, have arrested a gang of car snatchers suspected of terrorizing Ikeja and other parts of the state for a long time. The suspects, Sadiq Olayibi, Tolani Adeyinka, Adeleke Teslim and Olayemi Akiloye, met their waterloo when SARS operatives swooped on them at various parts of the state. Olabiyi described himself as a kid robber who graduated to a full blown car snatcher. Also arrested was a 50-year-old woman, Lawal Ireti, who was described as the gang’s informant. Police sources said Ireti provided other jobs for the gang when they were not snatching cars. According to the sources, the woman suspect provided information to the gang that led to the robbery of the N8 million from a micro finance bank in Ogba area of Ikeja. “The gang specialized in car snatching and they terrorized Ikeja and environs for a lng time. They operated during the weekends and their targets were exotic cars. Their activities gave the police, residents and night crawlers in Ikeja sleepless nights and the state Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko, in his bid to stem the gang’s operation, ordered the officer in charge of SARS, SP, Abba Kyari, to trail and apprehend the bandits. Kyari, who swiftly swung into action, sent undercover operatives into streets to shop for stolen vehicles. Their efforts paid off when they stumbled on oen of the gang members who attempted to sell a stolen Toyota Camry to the undercover operatives. He was arrested and his arrest pave the way for the arrest of other members of the gang including Ireti the 50- year-old woman”, one of the sources told Sunday Vanguard. The source added that members of the gang got wind of the arrest of their member and they made effort to flee the country. “We arrested Tolani Adeyinka, at the South Africa Embassy, after he had secured a visa to flee the country. Sadiq Olabiyi was picked up at Ajah area of the state, he has also applied for a visa to tavel to Egypt. Adeleke Teslim and Olayemi Akiloye were picked separately at Ojo and Okokomaiko areas of the state,” the source narrated. Meanwhile, when Sunday Vanguard interviewed the suspects at Lagos State Command Headquarters, Ikeja, they confessed to the crime, but Olabiyi blamed his involvement in crime to lack of prper training. The 27 year-old man said, “I am the first child of my parents. My father did not have a good job, which made us very poor. I was born in Ketu. As a young boy, I used to go to the market at Mile 12 to assist some people selling stolen goats. I usually helped them to offload the goats from their vehicles and, from there, I learnt how to drive. When I graduated from secondary school, I joined the business full time. I stole several goats, I would travel to some south western states to steal goats. While I was doing that, I met Tolani Adeyinka. He and Adeleke Teslim and one other had started snatching cars then. They knew I was a good driver; so they asked me to join them. We stole a lot of cars together and we operated mostly in Ikeja, Ogba and Agege areas. We usually struck weekends when fun seekers were on the streets grooving and our targets were mostly Toyota, Honda and Mercedes Benz cars. We had ready buyers all over the state and we would deliver a stolen car to any of the buyers who make the highest bid. We sold Toyota cars for N250,000 and Honda Accord from N300,000. I got between N100,000 and N150,000 after each operation, I spent my money on myself, I bought good clothes, rented an apartment at Ajah and bought a land at Ikorodu, where I am building a three- bedroom flat apartment. But sometime in July, Ireti brought us a job where we stolen the sum of N8 million from a micro fiance bank. I don’t know the name of the bank but she and a male partner brought the job to us. I thought they were police informants trying to set me up and I ignored their calls from close to two weeks. When I finally met them at a bar in Ikotun they told me that they got my phone number from one of my friends who told them I could do the job. The job was at Ikeja and they asked us to wait soemwhere for the car conveying the money to pass. Ireti was there to point the car for us. After she did, we followed the car alongn Ogba and double crossed it. I was the one driving. Tolani Adeyinka and Adeleke Teslim bolted out with their guns and they snatched the bag containing the money and all the occupants’ mobile phones before we zoomed off. We shared the money equally, four million naira went to Ireti and her partner and my gang shared the rest. I got one million naira as my own share.” Source: www.vanguardngr.com/2013/09/i-graduated-from-kid-robber-to-notorious-car-snatcher-man-29/#sthash.KH7lhEbD.dpuf- |
BUT for the timely intervention of the operatives from Saki unit of Operation Burst, the trio of Kazeem Alani, Jimoh Wasiu and Mutiu Jelili would have been dead by now as they were almost lynched by an irate mob when they were detected during an attempt to change $111,300 suspected to be fake dollars for genuine Nigerian currency. Also with the dollars was a sum of N4,100 which was also said to be fake naira notes. Crime Reports gathered that the three suspects approached the bureau de change of one Alhaji Fatai Adetoro to change the dollars in Saki recently but when a fake currency detection pen was used to mark all the dollar notes, they were found to be counterfeit. Before taking the entire fake dollars, the suspects were said to have gone to the bureau de change the previous day with a genuine $100 dollar note so as not arouse suspicion. The attempt to defraud the operator reportedly angered passersby and they were said to have descended on the trio, which prompted Alhaji Adetoro to put a distress call to Operation Bursts office. The second-in-command of the security outfit, CSP Elisha Bawa had told Crime Reports during a press briefing that preliminary investigations revealed that Alani and Jimoh were street urchins based in Ogbooro and had no specific means of livelihood. Bawa stated further that they knew the dollars were fake ones but decided to try their luck which failed. He said that the third suspect, Shittu, was regarded as an accomplice because he would have benefitted from the money if the first two suspects had succeeded in exchanging the money However, Alani (35) denied knowing that dollars were fake ones, saying that they were brought to him by one Sir Kay, whom he knew in Lagos State. The Igboho-born suspect who lived in Ogbooro via Saki told Crime Reports: “I am into charcoal business. I have a friend called Sir Kay. He used to bring rice from Cotonou, in Republic of Benin, to Alaba Rago in Lagos State where I used to take my bags of charcoal for sale. We got close because we both speak Oyo dialect. “After some time, we lost contact but one day, I received a call from him and he told me he had some problems, saying that Customs seized his goods. I asked him to come to charcoal farm at Ogbooro to work so that he could use whatever he got to start his business again. “On the day he came, he arrived at 6p.m. He told me he was fortunate to have come across a polythene bag containing dollars at Ewekoro town, Ogun State. When he opened for me to see, I saw it was 12 bundles of dollar notes. I told him that he should allow me to involve Wasiu, who is one of my friends because I was not used to the currency. “Wasiu suggested that we go to bureau de change in Saki to convert the money to naira. We were supposed to go to Saki the following day with Sir Kay but he told us that he received a call that his pregnant wife fell from a bike and was in a hospital at Cotonou, so he went and left the money with us. “We left for Saki to make findings on where to take the money for conversion. We saw an okada rider and asked him to take us to a bureau de change. He took us to one Alhaji and we explained to the operator that we noticed that the serial numbers of most of the dollar notes were similar. We showed him one of them that we took with us and he said it was ok. He asked us to come with the bundles the following morning. “We went back and the money was brought out. Suddenly we heard Alhaji and boys exclaim that we brought fake dollars. We were surprised at this and before we knew what was happening, they started beating us and almost killed us before Operation Burst operatives came and rescued us. I believe I fell into trouble because of greed and discontentment.” The second suspect, Jimoh,, an indigene of Ogbooro and also into charcoal business said “Sir Kay and Alani came to buy charcoal from me. He told me that Sir Kay found some dollars. I replied that we should take one of the dollar notes to Saki to confirm its genuineness. Sir Kay got to Saki with us but did not follow us to the bureau de change as he said he was returning to Cotonou to take care of his wife. “We got the okada man involved because he was the one who introduced us to the operator. When we were asked to return with the whole money the following day, we collected his mobile number so that he could take us there again. When we got there the following day and he wanted to leave, we asked him to wait and see everything to the end because we thought of giving him something out of it if we succeeded in converting the dollars to naira.” The third suspect, who conveyed Alani and Wasiu to where they wanted to change the fake dollars, denied knowing the first two suspects, saying that he only took them to the bureau de change while plying his business as a commercial okada rider. However, Bawa said that the suspects would be transferred to the appropriate security agency for further investigations. Source: www.tribune.com.ng/news2013/index.php/en/component/k2/item/21602 |
MOTORCYCLE owners in Osogbo, Osun State are heaving sighs of relief with the arrest of some suspects said to be the brain behind the disappearance of several motorcycles that got missing from where they were parked. The six suspects arrested by the police in connection with the case were Ganiyu Moshood, (19), Ahmed Jelili (25), Aluko Bola (26), Abiodun Ibrahim (20), Adebisi Matthew(20). Afeez Oladepo (28) who was arrested at his residence at Ojesayomu Street, Adeoyo area of Ibadan. Oladepo was reported to be one of the receivers of the stolen motorcycles. Crime Reports learnt that Moshood was arrested based on information and when he was interrogated, he confessed to have committed the crime, mentioning those he worked with. It was in the process that he mentioned Aluko’s name as one of his gang members. Information gathered revealed that Aluko, who had been guest of the police in the past, was on their wanted list as they learnt that he had not yet desisted from his criminal way of life. On September 9, Aluko was said to have been sighted by detectives from Oja-Oba police station when he came to the Child Welfare section of the police station to report a case, and was promptly arrested. In an interview with Crime Reports, Aluko, who said he was from Ilesa and married with one kid stated that though it was true that he used to steal motorcycles, he had repented from his bad ways and had left the crime about three months ago. Disclosing that it was Moshood who mentioned his name to the police, he stated further that no exhibit was found with him when he was arrested. “It is true that I was once into stealing of motorcycles but I have repented. I decided about three months ago to stop stealing. Before I started stealing, I was a motor boy following commercial bus to Ibadan. I started stealing when I joined bad friends. I met them at joints where we smoke and drink alcohol. I usually envied them the way they used to spend money at joints. “I asked them how they were getting the money and they opened up to me that they were stealing okada where they were parked. I started about two years ago. I was once caught about seven months ago and I was charged to court by the police. I agreed to buy another motorcycle for the owner and we settled it out of court. “Unfortunately, I could not resist stealing again and I stole twice after that. I went to steal one motorcycle which I sold for N60,000. I was caught after stealing a second one and it was returned to the owner. After that, I stopped. This time around, I was not caught with any stolen motorcycle but a suspect who was arrested by the police mentioned my name. “What happened was that we were doing the ‘business’ together before I decided to stop about three months ago. I worked with him twice and he was the one who helped me to take the motorcycles to our receiver in Ibadan at Iwo Road area. He was arrested when he went to operate alone and he mentioned my name.” When contacted, the police imagemaker, DSP Folasade Odoro said that the police commissioner had ordered that the suspected be charged to court after investigations. Crime Reports learnt that the suspects had been charged to court and remanded in Ilesa prisons. The case was adjourned till September 23.
