my brother, presently i know at least 4 graduates in my area who look for construction job on daily basis to feed their families and these job involves carrying head pan with mixed cement to storey buildings and are paid #1 500 daily and the job is not even regular because they had to lined up to be selected everyday and are picked if they are lucky .
the construction job in nija too is not a joke but not everybody is cut out for jobs like that
many graduates today hustle in construction for quick money during their undergraduate days except those who has parents, uncles or who to turn to for money...but for aje pako we must survive anyhow..
all am saying is since you can change job after 6 months instead of waiting for 3 month visa to elapse and since the desirable is not available then the available can be manageable for 6 month IF YOU CAN DO IT instead of returning to nija empty handed..

My dear, construction job in Dubai is on a whole different level. It is modern day slavery. The sun in this part of the world is terrible coupled with poor salary, poor living condition, and the rest. More so, don't think changing job in Dubai is a piece of cake. The economy is shrinking and companies are either downsizing or managing to retain their workers.

Again, a majority of companies are looking for individuals with 2 yrs to 5 yrs experience, not 6 months, since they believe that if you can run away from your company after 6 months, you are likely to leave their's same way.


In addition, labor migration in Dubai tends to follow a trend. If you have experience in construction, you are likely to be considered for jobs requiring such gulf experience, except you have a highly sort after skill and grace of God.

In a typical case of ‘bush-meat-become-hunter,’ an American man has been arrested and charged to court for scamming three Nigerians of over $500,000.

Marco Ramirez, an American citizen, was remanded in Kirikiri Maximum Prison by an Ikeja High court Thursday after it he was accused by the EFCC of taking money from his victims under the pretext of securing them American passports.

According to Herald, the EFCC prosecutor said the accused was managing director of three companies – USA Now Plc., Eagleford Instalodge Group and USA Now Capital Group.

Ramirez was accused of collecting $545,000 from Amb. Godson Echejue, in order to procure an American green card (residence permit) for him.

He also allegedly received $10,000 from one Abubakar Umar through a fake investment programme in the U.S. which would make Umar eligible to obtain an American passport, and another $10,000 from one Mr Olukayode Sodimu under the pretext that the funds were facilitation fees with the American Immigration Services for an American green card.

Ramirez pleaded not guilty to all 16 fraud charges against him and EFFC prosecutor requested that he be taken from EFCC custody to prison custody because there were no bed spaces available in the commission.

Two Brazilians, Lima Pereira Diego, and Dias Dos Santos Marcia Cristina, were also convicted for bringing 23.895 kilograms of cocaine into Nigeria, according to Vanguard.

1. Open a LinkedIn account if you don't have and/or update your qualifications, achievements and so on.
2. Hook up with professionals and HR officers in the O&G sector in the Gulf region.
3. Be active and contribute regularly to discussions and updates in ur sector.
4. Register on job portals and apply for jobs as the alerts hit ur email. Then, go to LinkedIn to hook up with workers and HRs in that firm.


NB: None of these guarantees easy job search but a lot of high profile jobs in UAE are filled via networking.

A refrigerator has been identified as the source of last week's deadly Grenfell Tower fire in London
The Metropolitan Police said Friday that the massive blaze originated with a Hotpoint fridge freezer manufactured by Whirlpool subsidiary Indesit.
Whirlpool (WHR) said in a statement that 64,000 Hotpoint units carrying the model numbers FF175BP and FF175BG had been manufactured between March 2006 and July 2009.
It said that owners of the model should contact its customer hotline and provide their details. Authorities said the model had never been recalled.
Whirlpool, which acquired Italy-based Indesit in 2014, pledged to work with authorities as they investigate the fire that left at least 79 people dead or presumed dead.
"We offer our most profound condolences to the victims, those who have lost loved-ones, homes, and possessions, and to their friends and families," Whirlpool said in a statement. "We are addressing this as a matter of utmost urgency."
The U.K. government has ordered an "immediate examination" of the unit by technical experts.
But it added that there was "no specific reason for consumers to switch off their fridge freezer pending further investigation."
Whirlpool said that fewer than 64,000 units were likely to still be in use because of normal obsolescence.
Shares in Whirlpool declined 2.5% in New York.

The government said Thursday it was carrying out tests on 600 high-rise buildings across England that are covered in cladding, with at least 11 high-rise buildings so far identified as having combustible panels.

According to a press release from the Hansel Law firm in Baltimore, the three-day trial took place in the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County.

“The verdict sends a strong message to the police about how community expectations,” said counsel for the plaintiff, Cary J. Hansel. “The duty to serve and protect extends to our animal family members as well. Shooting Vern was senseless, unnecessary and unconstitutional.”

Vern, who was 4-and-a-half, was shot by Anne Arundel County police officer Officer Rodney Price. Price claimed that he was attacked by Vern, a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, which also happens to be the Maryland State dog , at the Glen Burnie home of Vern’s owner, Michael Reeves, while he was looking into a neighborhood burglary.

“He says ‘I’m really really sorry I just had to shoot him,’ and I’m like ‘you didn’t have to,'” said owner Mike Reeves.

“I mean you’re trained to use pepper spray, mace, a baton, there were so many things that I think could been avoided,” said another owner, Patrick Reeves.

The jury found that Price was not attacked by the dog, and that the shooting violated his owner’s constitutional rights, and was committed with gross negligence.

During the trial, the officer admitted that the dog did not bite or otherwise injure him before the shooting, the law firm says. The officer also said no other steps were taken to deal with the dog before the officer pulled his gun and fired it twice.

“I’ve never heard him growl. He’d bark but I never heard him go after anybody,” said neighbor Howard Seltzer. “He was a beautiful animal.”

At the time of shooting, Price was placed on administrative duty. Police say he is still currently with the agency.

The firm says its “the largest verdict in U.S. history for a police dog shooting.”

In court Vern’s necropsy revealed Price’s testimony over how the shooting occurred also didn’t add up.

My advice for anyone with the intention to come here in search of job is to pray, gather enough information and proceed without fear. As I have received so shall I give back.
