@Dayokanu
i just read your stuffs with I-man
ill agree with you on Toni, personally i have this feeling he's one of the best strikers in the world. If i pick 2 ill pick Drogba and Toni for now. . . .

But, Van Bommel? are you saying Van Bommel is better than Scholes or even Hargreaves?

i consider scholes and Gascoin as the best English midfielders of recent. Van bommel is not in the class of Scholes Dayo. Maybe a Scholl then but Bommel compared to Scholes? forget it.

Why do you people keep counting what someone did at Serie B. Toni has only had 3 seasons in the top flight.Last season he wasn't so good,he scored just 16 goals all season. The reality is,he has only had 2 good seasons in the top flight. You keep telling me what he did in Serie B,do you think if Torres was playing in the Segunda,he won't be banging in goals?

I-man, serie b is almost as good as A. the likes of Zarcado, Perotta, Barzagli and Toni all played the 2 yrs b4 the WC. They all made impact in the Azzurri WC campaign. Most Italian players dont reach thier peak until they are like 25-28 so i cant really blame Toni for his late inclusion in the azzurri squad.

That's neither here nor there. We are talking of the present. If you want to go down memory lane, why stop at the 90s?Long before money started pouring into football,English clubs were dominating Europe.Notwithstanding the 5 years ban over Heysel and the after effects,English clubs have won the UCL 10 times to Germany's 6.

It was only during the ban and its aftermath that England lost its dominance in the club scene.Go and look at the records. This was a time when football was not dominated by money.

its obviously a shame that England blew their chances after been handed a lifeline by the isrealis!!!!

I'm sure they would have done better if the original back four were present. Carson was a failure in his first major test.

@Dayokanu

the problem with England is their press and their unrealistic dreams. They need the Italian mentality. Italy played badly against the scotts but git the full points they know how to kill off a game. The 3. lions need to learn that. Has England won any game in the new Wembli? the games i watched were the young Azzurrini and the 3 cubs (3-3) Brazil vs England (1-1) germany vs england (1-0) now this heartbreaking result. too bad.

They need LIPPI or CAPELLO.

yea FORZA BERYERN. i love the team no doubt except when they play me.

Rubbish,Pirlo was outstanding in the 2 seasons he spent on loan.Everybody could see that he had a future except the blind Cuper who hates creative midfielders and prefers "water carriers".

About the Milan side,do you know that its Silvio Berlusconi that chooses your formation? You no dey shame! Gab Marcotti was claiming that it was Mr B who told Ancellotti that he must play entertaining football with as many creative players as possible.Club President dey choose your team and you still dey talk!

Ancelotti got the best out of Pirlo. through Ancelotti, Pirlo defined and created a new role in football.

you are saying RUBBISH.
Berlusconi always insist on sexy football but he will never choose a team for a manger like Ancelotti. that doesn't happen in Italy. only in EPL grin but even if Berlusconi chooses the team, Ancelotti showed that he is a great manager and made a successfull and winning team out of it.

That's why Wenger has been trophyless for 2 consecutive seasons and hopefully for this season as well. When you start playing teenagers in your starting line up,you might as well say goodbye to trophies. That is why playing Kroos was a bad idea in such an important game.

may be you should ask barca and ajax b4 you say that. ok how old was Rooney and fake Ronaldo we they started playing for man utd?

i have a soft spot for Man utd so i will give you a little respect. had you been a gunner then i would have hated you the more.

Red Devils! When they will expose that your fraudulent team wey the President dey pick for competing in only one competition, the UCL,you will know you are in serious trouble. No Chapmpions League football for you next season.Italy's 4 will be -Fiorentina,Inter,Roma and Juventus

Pato will be better than Rooney,Ronaldo and Messi?Lets wait and see. When you will be playing in the UEFA Cup next season, you will become a frustrated man like Dayokanu, dey relive past glories I know its Milanese that started the disturbance at Bergamo because they know there team is not yet ready.

LOL the sicilians are the mafias disturbing serie a not the milan teams, or turin or even rome except when there is a Roman derby.

Pirlo wasn't an instant hit with Milan,it took him time to mature. As for Kroos, can you imagine Milan starting a league against the Italian champions with a 17 year old teenager in midfield? It shows the lack of depth in the Bayern squad that they had to feature him in such a league game-he was clearly overawed.Nobody is saying he doesn't have a future but his time is the future not now

shut up. If AW played him would you complain? Rubbish. I wonder if you made the same comment when AW uses his young lads.

I-man where you belong sef. And about Milan using a 17yr kid in your widest dream grin e no fit happen jare. Am still doubting Pato. he is just too young for calcio. I know he by 21 or 22 he will be much better that Rooney, Messi, fake Ronaldo, etc grin grin grin grin grin

Mourinho Also Slams Wenger's Foreign Policy
Former Chelsea manager has mocked Arsene Wenger's team building style, insisting that he has done more for the English game, building a winning team which had an English core.

JM is f*k guilty too. He met Lampard, Cole and Terry in Chelsea. the only significant player he bought was Ashley Cole. such an hypocrite.
Sports / Re: Who's The World's Best Football Coach? by gabrielgb: 7:11am On Nov 16, 2007
See how you contradict yourself, you just said Kroos should be allowed to grow, yet you are complaining about how Cuper used Pirlo who was also a youngster.Pirlo spent most of his time on loan then,I can't remember him featuring for Inter when Cuper was there. In any case, was he better than Di Biagio and Cristiano Zanetti?Cuper liked to play 2 rugged ball winners in the centre of midfield and there was no hope for someone like Pirlo

guy Pirlo was about 21-22 then but this kroos is just 17 whats the comparison?
when Pirlo was in Inter, he was used a trequartista which doesn't fit his pattern at all. Di Biaggio and Zanetti are defensive midfielders. If not for Ancelotti, Pirlo will languish on the bench in any team. remember the milan winning side of 2002/2003 had seedorf, and Roi custa plus they play 2 strickers. Ancelotti decided to protect him with Gattuso that made him have a free role in the midfield.
Sports / Re: Who's The World's Best Football Coach? by gabrielgb: 5:38pm On Nov 15, 2007
You saw the game against Sttutgart, what's the likes of Altintop,Kroos and Lell doing in the starting line up

why are you guys blabbing about Kroos? is it not the same lad that played the last under 17 wc? The guy is a young talent let him grow.

I-man that statement is very wrong. Clarence Seedorf and Andrea Pirlo had torrid times in Inter Milan, Pirlo hardly played yet they went to Milan and the following season won the UCL as regulars,

the problem with Pirlo then was that Zacaronni and Hector Cuper didn't know the position to play him. Ancelotti applied wisdom to play him so deep. seedorf was a confused player then.

Mr gabrielgb
ive tried as much to ignore your posts but the more i tried, the more the urge to chip in something.
The areguement isnt about calcio and the EPL but the statement above shouldnt have come from a Calcio fan. How many clubs can you call standard in the calcio? are they up to four?
Let me help you, AC, Inter, Juventus which one will you add to it?
They are not up to 4. The EPL has 4 standard that can match any club in the world, so whats the fuss about only mentioning the top 4 in the EPL. Or you intend to add Roma to your list?

PS: Present day Juventus will suffer in the hands of the top 4 if they meet anywhere in the globe

Fiorentina, Lazio and Roma are strong enough.( i know you are still living in the fantacy land of last season's 7-0) Roma's recent match against Man u should make you stop an think dude. I dont blame you.

And about Juve; you should be ashame of yourself. why would you challenge a newly promoted side. but if you want them then just wait till next CL b4 you open ur grin

Man u and Liverpool can stand head to head with the 3 calcio teams you stated above.

Last season, all the English clubs topped their respective groups . . . . 3 out of 4 later made it to the S/finals of the UCL . . . .

guy wetin be ur problem? this ur so called record had been established earlier by:madrid, valencia and barca in spain; juve inter and milan in my beloved italy to make it more interesting madrid and milan won it respectively. No body made any fuss about it. omo o ri irue ri dey worry u.

milan defeated liverpool last season. stop being a cry baby and face reality.

Fatigue, heavy footie schedule and the pursuit of double/treble/quad was the reason why AC Milan triumphed in the UCL.
Their league position this season will tell u they have their eyes on UCL again this season . . . . . . . . . . .
I cannot imagine Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool locking the 13th spot of the Premiership . . .the whole world would cave in!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool cant be in 13th spot because EPL is divided into 3 categories the 1st is made up of this 4 clubs. In italy and even spain anyteam can get beaten by any club. what i mean is there is competetion in this league.
Sports / Re: The Rossoneris, what's Wrong With Milan? by gabrielgb: 7:29am On Nov 15, 2007

tkb e concern you now shebi u be EPL fan.
Sports / Re: Who's The World's Best Football Coach? by gabrielgb: 7:27am On Nov 14, 2007
So what then is your argument. If as you admit, the EPL is now better, what's your point? Nobody is interested in what happened between 97 and 2002. We are talking of the present

but la liga and calcio is ahead of EPL grin

When Bremen is bottom of its group,Sttutgart bottom of its group,Schalke are only 1 point ahead of the bottom club-telling me about the "good old days" doesn't make sense.
why dont you just say Schakle is 3rd instead of emphasizing 1 point ahead of the bottom club besides bremen is in its 2nd or 3rd straight season in CL, sttugart and schakle are in their 1st season. but your EPL side are in their , hold on Man u like 20th season, Arsenal 13th season, liverpool 6th or 7th season, chelsea 5th season. these clubs have billions and millions of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to spend. comparing the level for trophies won with German club then i think EPL is pathetic.3.

If this had only happened this season,we would have said its a one-off,but its been the case for the last few seasons. Germans themselves admit that there is a big problem.

there is a bigger money crazy problem in England.

All the comparisons between Hleb and-Meira,Kuranyi,Lahm and Hinkel-are pointless.Hleb has never been in the reckoning for team of the season in the EPL and comparing him with centre-halfs,full backs and strikers in Germany beggars belief.

thats because British press is so dumb. Hleb was the hero against Man u and Liverpool. I just wonder why all the praise goes to Fabregas.

What has the old B.Leverkusen team got to do with anything? The players you mentioned played for a team that finished in the 2nd position,Berbatov plays for an EPL team whose best ever position is 5th.The old Leverkusen team, especially under Daum, were always in the top 3. . . . .but that is all ancient history.Nothing to do with the current quality of the Bundesliga.

apart from Rooney, Drogba, Torres and Kuyt name a better stricker than Berbatov. if he plays for Man u or Arsenal then you will know how good he is. EPL is divided in to 3 one group is made up of A, M, C, L the 2nd group is MC, TH, etc and the last group, Reading, derby etc. if Berbatov plays for the first he will explode.

Its deceptive to simply compare Bayern's squad with Arsenal's squad when we are comparing the 2 leagues.Compare the various squads of Chelski,Liverpool,Utd and Arsenal to Bremen,Hamburg and Bayern and you will there is a major difference.

the present beryen squad will murder any club from EPL. Besides only Chelsea has got the better of Beryen ( that was when the money was still fresh.) Even from your post you could mention clubs beside the big 4! such a shame,

At the end of all this noise,no single German club will get out of the Group stages of the UCL.We can debate for as long as we want but at the end,the reality is best reflected on the football pitch and there,German clubs are not performing.

and at the end of all this EPL clubs will probably get to the semis then reality comes to play again. And the CL goes to, ( calcio or Laliga.)
Sports / Re: The Rossoneris, what's Wrong With Milan? by gabrielgb: 7:22am On Nov 14, 2007
No doubt Milan need youths in its squad. from the goalkeeper to defence up to attack. we need the likes of Diego, van dar vaat, Barzagli and curci.

By the way if Milan finishes 5th in serie a and wins the CL then we will have 5 reps from our league. I pray everything happens like this cos i want to see juve back in europe and Fiorentina is realy a good side.

its a stupid and absurd list. I couldn't read through it. such a boring list.
By the way why is figo ahead of Zidane.
a more usefull list could be 20 football of all time.

• GK - Peter Schmeichel

• LB - Roberto Carlos
• CB - Lothar Matthaus
• CB - Franz Beckenbauer
• RB - Cafu

• LM - Johan Cruyff
• CM - Zinedine Zidane
• CM - Michel Platini
• RM - Luis Figo

• ST - Ronaldo
• ST - Pele

ur(or their) list is robbish.why Peter Schmeichel when we have legends like zoff, buffon and this russian keeper?( his name has eluded me) where is maldini and baresi. Franz Beckenbauer is ok though, i never knew Lothar Matthaus was a defender !
Platini is a striker and not a midfielder. there should be a defensive midfielder, viera, kean, Albertini or some other players to support ur ultra offencive attack.

and that midfield is pathetic. where is maradona

Hitzfeld was criticized by Rummenige for his rotation policy which saw him replacing Riberry and Podolski in the middle of the Bolton game. The Bundesliga is enjoyable to watch but the quality of the players are generally poor. When you think of some of the players at Bayern, supposedly the best club in the League-Alintop,Van Buyten,Schweinsteiger and the useless Lucio-its no surprise they are struggling

The only problem with Adriano is that he needs to swap the north side of Milan for the South side .

The red and black would be a massive boost 4 his career

@sage, i dont think Adriano's combination with 99 will be good. they are too similar for me. 99 should pair with either Pato or a fit Inzaghi any they. instead of buying Adriano we should have bought Toni or Ruud boy.

Sports / Re: Who's The World's Best Football Coach? by gabrielgb: 7:13am On Nov 08, 2007
For milan i will agree, but what of other teams in Seria A .   If they are like Milan, there will be a lot of Italian players in the top teams and all these players won't feature for the national team, thereby giving foreingn players less chances of playing for good teams.
This system might help natinal teams(in europe) but will destroy the beauty of club football.

folahann grow up, only inter is considered a non italian team ( due to the number of italian players there). if you watch calcio you wouldn't have posted that.

Roma-totti, cassteti, panucci, de rossi, aquilliani, tonetto, espotino, perotta (only espotino doesn't have a stating shirt.)there was cassano, tommasi delvechio, etc

juve has always produced half of azzurri players right from the time of rossi,  zoff,  down to zambrotta, del piero, canavaro, buffon, conte, tachinardi, brindelli, and now chiellin, noverino, crisito, palladino, laquinta, etc.
even fiorentina is producing some exciting azzurrini

The quota system will do no good to football.
If it is introduced, let' take England for example; that means there will be more English players in the premiership. All this players can not be selected to play for the national team(only the best will be chosen) meaning a club will have more players without international value. This will also unsettle a lot of players, resulting in Big(Very Good) Players playing for teams not matching their standard.
The affected tems will have to dispatch some of their good players and this players might not find good teams to play for. Take a look at this very well, this is going to cause more harm than good

The milan team has pirlo, gattuso, inzagi, gilardino, oddo and ambrosini, as starters in thier team likewise roma, even barca, man u, etc. so what's ur point?

but i think the system is weird and stupid.

They don't have to, they just need to understudy a top coach in a foreign league and that will be it.

Some good coaches like Benitez didnt play the game at all and they are top coaches

benitez is not a briton. i still beleive their ego wont let them go to other leagues since they beleive theirs is the best.

by the way did you guys see pirlo's pass to inzaghi yesternight? (now that what i call a world class pass)

hey TKB manaco's scoreline then was 8-3 so liverpool scoreline is a bit flattering. yea juve defeated olimpiakos or panatinaikos 7-0.

@gabrielgb
Nothing stops a british player that has just finished his playing career from going to La Liga or Serie A to learn the ropes just as Mourhinho did. It has nothing to do with where youre coming from. It has to do with learning under a good coach in those leagues for a few years and then they can move on from der.

the only english player that showed interest in coaching in calcio was paul ince, he wants to manage inter which is quite impossible. but i think if english players wants to be great managers, they have to play or atleast end their careers in other leagues. it will be good for their development.

Sir Bobby Robson was a great world class manager (ask JM)
funny nobody remembered him in this thread.

i think arsenal and inter milan will realy suffer is if this policy is adhere to. arsenal is spoiling english futbal AW should also look for english prodigies. but i cant realy blame him though english players are overrated; AW wanted SWP but the demand was f*king to much. i think young english players have to be modest b4 AW can think of buying them. he would rather go to other leagues and buy 'em cheap.
what am saying is you cant blame AW for his decision but still english players are needed in his squad no doubt.

SAF has nothing to loose, he plays lots of british players.
