citadeledu:
my dear dont play a victim or feel like one,carry quite a handful ful of prescription,in your main luggage,

The united states just lifted the ban of positive travellers last year thats why the annual world aids confference has never been done in the us as half of attendees are positive people.

Hiv is really closer than we think,my brother is also positive but for 21 years now and he is still good and his viral load is below 1000 and cd4 is 650 ,Baby start your life over and imagine what impact you can make in the world,make an impact.

there is a conference in italy on june for positive people,friends and researcher .
To have more USA and Hiv travel info on countries u can visit with ARV or free medication visit www.hivtravel.org
thank you so much,
am really confident with all the information I've gathered here.
Just worried about quantity now.
Thank you so much.

@Gaby:
Hmmmm 7 days return ticket but you plan to stay more than 7 days. I'm sure you realise that you cannot get these drugs off the shelf in the US and you'd need a doctor's prescription to get them in the US. So, if you are just carrying drugs for 7days, make sure you budget for more in the US. Healthcare in the US na real empire, not cheap at all. Goodluck and I hope everything works out well for you.
thank you so much.
I've decided to go with 3months dosage, just worried about the quantity should am ask, since my visit is suppose to be for just a week.
Thank you so much for your advice, cant imagine paying $1,000 for a dose,
God bless you

@beepob
thank you so much for that document, you won't believe that I read the whole thing word by word!
Now am confident about travelling with my drugs, but the quantity is my fear, should am ask why I have excess of a 7 days' stock on me. What do you think? I learnt they are very expensive in US, I intend to go with a 3month's supply.
Any help will do,
Thank you so much.

HealthRe: HIV+ How Can The Husband Prevent Infecting His Wife by GabyLynn: 12:33am On Jan 22, 2011
According to the counselling I've had so far, once he is on the Meds, and Viral Load is dropt to undectable level(a level believed to be non infectible, ), he can remove the condom on the ovulation date, though taking the risk,
Pls consult your counsellor,

@geegee
thank you very much for your response, my dear the thing just dey oh,
my cd4 count does not qualify for drugs as well, but once pregnant it is mandatory to start the drug (PTMCT).
I am thinking it is safer in hand luggage, though I learnt that Obama has lifted up the ban on the restriction of HIV persons entering the US for whatever purpose. JUst dont want to be part of the experimental few.
@evilspirit
thank you so much, everything is ok for now.
once your husband trust and married you, whatever comes out of it is just distractions,
I cant explain how this happened, I've been married to him for 4years, though never had a Test (over confidence of my lifestyle? I guess) this is our first pregnancy.

Hi all, I have read this thread from begining, not knowing one day I will be digging it up for help,
friends, am here as a curent 2011 member,
I am calling on any HIV postive person that travel across the Nogerian border to enlighten me on how to cross with my Retroviral Drug in my Hand Luggage without any problem.
My family are based in the US am expecting, just got diagnose during Antenatal care with a high CD4 count, Mum is expecting me to come over for delivery.
Medicine has advanced, baby will be fine.
Problem is, can I cross into US with my drugs? If you are on one, then you know important it is not to miss the timing not to think of stopping the drugs, hoping to acquire on arrival which may be late.
Well, I am open for all the usuals on Nairaland,
Just looking for people like me to help me out.
Before I forget, Mum and family are not aware of this development,
Pls, Are there HIV + mothers who have travelled to the US to have their kids here? How is it like?
Do they discriminate?
Can they keep it away from family members?
NB,
I am happily married to a wonderful man who remains HIV- and has been my Rock, Father, Husband and all you can think of, extremely loving me unconditionally.
Thank you for reading my long story,
Looking forward to hearing from you all.
