The conversations around Nigeria’s southeastern region producing the President in 2023 will always be a recurring one.
However, there are some who are making a case for the marginalised Igbos in the south-south region.
Chike Ogeah, the Managing Director of Mac Folly Limited, operator of Lagos Marriot Hotel Ikeja, says the Oshimili-Aniocha people of Igbo extraction in oil rich Delta State do not lack the human capacity in producing the next president, but have always been marginalised and often described as not being mainstream Igbo.
Mr Ogeah, a former Commissioner of Information in Delta State told ARISE News on Friday that the Oshimili-Aniocha Igbos bore most of the brunt in the Nigerian civil war and cited the Asaba massacre that occurred on October 5, 1967, when federal troops entered the town and ransacked houses, killing civilians because “they were Biafran sympathisers.”
Abohboy: Where did I say Nsibidi is from igbo? I said Arochukwu spread it to other igbo groups after finding out about it through trade and conquest of other lands such as those of the ibibio and ekoi
trade not conquest. We did not conquer our neighbors, conquering thing was never in our nature
It's too early for this shit. At least allow him do some jail time first, because it's going to look like they are endorsing the lifestyle. Other international criminals like Pablo, elchapo, Bonnie and Clyde were given years before thinking about a movie and i believe at least 5 years should be given. It's too Damm early. This woman just dey rush to make money
AirFireEarthH20: Britain never did anything to you. Humans have freedom to determine his/her future. Self determination is a fundamental human right. Some countries outside Africa that were forcefully merged together have gone their separate ways but only in Africa you see people prefer to suffer than to fight and get their freedom. Instead of fighting to free themselves from oppressors, they prefer to go to church or mosque to pray to God to come help them for things they can do themselves. Tufiakwa!!
It's like you are oblivious of the role the brits played in the Biafra genocide/war. Nigeria is a business for them.
Top people, politicians who have had bad dealings with kyari might try to kill him or prevent the USA from extraditing him, because if they do, man is going to sing like a cannery and lots of folks are gonna go down. Let's see how this plays out.
Bad timing for obi Cubana, man will be regretting why kyari attended the burial cos obi will be the most watched person now.
Ijaw in Ikoro and the people of Obazuwa in Ovia North East local government area of Edo State have been at loggerheads over claims and counterclaims on the ownership of a piece of land.
The land under dispute is said to be between the Ijaw who are said to be settlers and the Benin the original owners of the area.
The chairman, Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) in the Olodiama clan, Sam Ebiwana, alleged that on several occasions the people of Obazuwa had been making efforts to displace residents of the Ikoro community from where he said they had lived for years.
He accused them of disrupting construction work in the area and destroying properties running into several millions of naira at different times.
But reacting to the allegation in a press conference yesterday, the leadership of Benin Solidarity Movement (BSM) disclaimed the Ijaw saying the Benin have been staying in Obazuwa even before 1440 during the reign of Oba Ewuare I.
A leader of the group who is from that community and a son of the late Odionwere (eldest man) of Obazuwa Henry Igbinosu said there is no place called Ikoro but rather Iko which was given to the Ijaw as fishermen to settle which they now corrupted to Ikoro.
He said, “Iko Community is controlled by the Enogie of Obazuwa who is the representative of the Oba of Benin as the Traditional Chief of the locality.
“From history the Ijaw benefited from the large heart of the Oba of Benin who gave them a settlement in their fishing business, but they have now become major land rivals, which they have termed to be their ancestral land.
It's like Yousef hasn't gotten the Hisbah memo, man has forgotten that BBNaija is haram in Arewa. Hisbah commander will be waiting for him after his eviction
mocey: i think you mean your treachery against biafra, against your brothers,we have more in common with each other than the fulanis from futa jalon,i dont understand this envy,i have told you this all the time and hell because of insults,i started a petition telling igbos to sign so we can organize a referendum to ask igbos if we want 5 states or not,we wont wait for freedom,we need to ask igbos,i wont repeat the mistakes of 1967,i am smarter than that,a biafra with ijaws in it wont work,i am just saying the truth, ijaws should have ijaw republic.
truth is fulanis are far away, you cant decide for any tribe in the niger delta region and this is where i always call out the ijaw hypocrisy, you want to speak for others but you dont want igbos to speak for you?stinks of fish smelling hypocrisy,if you say you want to decide for all tribes in the niger delta then you would be all alone
Look at how you open your mouth and talking as if you are begging for unity. It is people like you that make dem disrespect us so much. What do you mean we have more in common. See, what I support is an only ịgbo republic, make every one answer their papa name, I'm very certain they can't stay together as one themselves. Let it be that the only thing that bonds us together is trade. Don't make the mistake of sharing thesame country with the ijaws.
The Minority leader of the Senate, Senator Enyinaya Abaribe has disclosed that most of his colleagues betrayed him after he spoke to them on electronic voting provision in the electoral act, saying the betrayal forced him to call for division, to expose them to the world.
A close ally of the minority leader spoke to Senate press corps members, giving details of how Abaribe lobbied but was betrayed.
Senator Sabi Abdullahi, representing Niger State, had sought for amendment to the clause 52(3), saying, “The commission may consider electronics collation of results provided the National Network Coverage is adjudged to be adequate and secured by the National Communication Commission and approved by the National Assembly. This means ceding some of the job of INEC to NCC and National Assembly itself.”
This was against the amendment sought by Senator Bassey Akpan, which was also the same as the recommendation by the INEC Committee that presented the report, saying the Commission may transmit results of elections by electronic means where and when practicable at its discretion.
During voice vote, the nays had it as the minority leader challenged the ruling by the President of the Senate, calling for order 73, which means division.
The order states that any senator may challenge the opinion of the President or the chairman’s ruling on a voice vote by claiming a division on any matter before the upper legislative chamber.
It was gathered that Abaribe had a special session with PDP senators on the electoral amendment bill, over the clauses, especially on electronic transmission of results, to stop the menace of election rigging in Nigeria.
“They all agreed to support the electronic transmission as he also lobbied most APC Senators, who saw reasons with him, for election accountability and the need to have free and fair election in Nigeria.
“Many agreed and gave him their word to support the use of electronic transmission of results when the clauses are deliberated upon on the floor.
“When Sen Kabiru Gaya got information that Sen Abaribe was flowing well with most senators, APC/PDP inclusive, and had gotten their support on electronic transmission of results, he quickly ran to the presidency to scuttle the plan.
“He activated Aso Rock connection on Senators. Secret financial promises were made to senators in PDP and APC. Some PDP senators were promised soft landing if they wish to decamp to APC, and that the non use of electronic transmission of results will make their election seamless/easy to win in future.
“To assure Senators of their promises, the cabals arranged an emergency dinner session with President Buhari at the villa where all 109 senators came face to face with Mr President. Cash were disbursed to those Senators willing to take in dollars. But they all kept denying.
“The Senate president was ready to do the bidding of the President’s cabals. So they agreed to a voice vote of ayes and nays, but that the nays should have it. Haven known the kind of person Senator Abaribe is, and fearing the worst, some Judas in PDP, decided to abscond.
“They were at the Villa to honour President Buhari’s emergency dinner session with Senators, but couldn’t attend the senate sitting on the most important day of our nation’s electoral history. Those APC Senators who gave Abaribe their words started acting strange after the dinner. So, when it got to the electronic transmission of results clause in the electoral amendment bill, as usual the Senate president called for those in support to say Aye, and those against to say Nay. And he was quick to say, the Nays have it, and it was obvious they have it. But Senator Abaribe wanted history to vindicate every one of them, and posterity to judge those who betrayed and robbed the nation of her only chance at having credible, free and fair elections.
“So, he called for a division of the Senate where everyone will vote YES or NO, according to their conscience, and the results will be made public for history to judge. He wanted to expose all those who voted against the people’s wish, and for the world to see those who betrayed by absenteeism.”
Someone replied sugabelly on twitter with a small thread after she asked same question:
"Obi Cubana grew up in Affluence, his maternal Grandfather was Mr. Lawrenceville a Sanitary Officer in the colonial government of the Eastern Region, Obi's Father was Sir Nnaemeka Iyiegbu; Chief Akaeze Oba(Ask any pre-civil war Aba Businessman about him) Obi's Mum was the Co-owner of Giant Steps International School, Õba. Obi's Father set him up after his university graduation(just like most Igbo big men do), so his story is not about a son of a poor man that woke up one day and became a billionaire. No! What you are seeing is generational wealth. Today he makes his money from his chains of businesses like Opium By Cubana, Owerri The Grind By Cubana, Lagos Montana By Cubana, Lagos Pablo By Cubana, Lagos Cubana Signature, Abuja Puzzo By Cubana, Abuja Caledonian Suites, Abuja Crave By Cubana, Abuja Hustle and Bustle, Abuja Grand Cubana Hotels, Abuja Cubana Gustavo, Enugu

I believe this answered your questions, you asked A VALID QUESTION but I'm surprised the way many people here are attacking you like you asked a terrible question."
This was why the number one thing on their to-do list was to silence that Mazi Kanu....even if it meant falling foul of international laws on extradition! Dude was ‘blabbing’ too much and starting to open the eyes of many Nigerians!
Just leave those bigots, they are not aware how this will affect peoples minds towards them, what they are doing now is what the Serbs did in the yugoslavia. Fulanis are behaving like the Serbs of that time. This inspired the division of that country into different nations, along ethic lines, today all their neighbors are doing better than them. Let the North keep making enemies.
They are not close to the sea yet they run the Navy.
They don't have oil but they run nnpc and control most oil blocks.
These are thesame people that need a cutoff mark of 2 while y'all need to score above 130 to gain unity school admission, and you guys keep screaming one Nigeria instead of fighting to see that your unborn grandchildren don't face this nonsense
We told sw Apc aka kpomo brethren that this marriage they are going into with these monsters won't end well, but they were ready for all of us to suffer together so their man will get presidency by 2023. Was it really worth it now?
They told saka to go back to Nigeria. That Lil man will be traumatized, not like sterling who has seen all the racism in this world. Snacho too took a very wrong time to switch to EPL, opposition fans will remind him at every away game.
Systemic racism might not see saka feature for England in the future, sadly for Tammy too because he is caped and can't switch Nationality. Odoi has decided to switch to ghana.
Their loss sweet me Sha . That country no go see trophy for Wetin dem do biafrans
This is why a referendum is important for everyone to choose where they want to be. The way I see it, it is more convenient for people of same ethnic cluster to stay together.
Ijaw Republic : which consist of Bayelsa, parts of rivers, part of delta. (not sure about where the ijaws in ondo will fall into)
Ibom republic : which will most like consist of akwaibom state and the southern part of cross rivers state. The northern part of cross rivers state are very much related to the middlebelt.
Biafra : an all ịgbo nation.
Within the eastern part of the Niger delta, we will have ikwere, who have to join one country or form their own.
Western part of Niger delta, you have edo/Benin and Co who can as swell be on their own.
Chimaraymond455: Igbo and Yoruba on nairaland shine your eyes, foolanis/Hausa will claim to be igbo just to insult and attack the yourubas, same Hausa/foolanis Will claim to be Yoruba to insult and and attack the igbo. foolanis/hausa are only active on nairaland, they are no where to find on Facebook, Twitter, or any international platform, Yoruba and igb hear this and hear it clear nairaland is faceless platform which does not require much data to login, that's why they are many here, that's why nairaland is childish platform. Yoruba and igbo on nairaland come to Facebook, Twitter, or any international platform and see the real igbos and Yorubas unity. I may abuse the yorubas out of ignorance before when I thought the yorubas are behind all those hateful threat against the igbos not knowing that it was foolanis and hausas who pretended to be the yorubas,...nnamdi kanu recent arrest have opened igbos eyes to know their common enemy, they only people who are celebrating his arrest is Hausa/Fulani, we have realized this that's why you see first time in history all the southern governors meet in Lagos. All this we south south na them, all this we Niger delta na them,
They are not smart. Southern politicians are just greedy and foolish. People that need a cutoff mark of 2 in unity school is who y'all are rating. A united South will scatter them
