I can't agree less. Our weak institutions are a major obstacle. Nigerians would rather create strong men who will protect their interests, than make the institutions work.

A lot of times the politicians are just sent their as a compensation package, how can one expect patriotism from such.

Who hasn't seen how Americans love and are willing to die for their country. Can any Nigerian do that?
It's always all about self-interest, nepotism and empty promises from politicians. Even the few that really want to do the right thing are frustrated by the system.
