Car TalkRe: Volkswagen Unveils New Brand Design And Logo by gbonsalifus(m): 2:41pm On Sep 13, 2019
This rebranding should be interesting. I like the illuminated logo. And maybe VW cars will finally start getting some character in their design. Nothing as dramatic as the new Lexus designs, but a departure from their bland designs.

World renowned German automaker, Volkswagen, has revealed a new brand design and logo that will be used on all its upcoming cars, advertisements and dealerships starting in 2020.

As expected, Volkswagen didn't completely revolutionize the look of its iconic logo. The V is still on top of the W and both are inside of a ring, but this time, the W in the new logo doesn't connect with the outer ring.

According to Volkswagen, the new flat and two-dimensional design of the new logo will allow more flexible use and will be outstandingly recognizable in digital media.

Volkswagen's Spokesperson, says :

The Volkswagen’s rebranding is one of the largest projects of this type in the industry worldwide. All in all, 171 markets in 154 countries are concerned. At the 10,000 facilities of dealers and service partners throughout the world, about 70,000 logos will be replaced.

The recently introduced all-electric ID.3 hatchback, which was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, became Volkswagen's first model to use the new Volkswagen logo.

The Golf-size battery-powered car is part of Volkswagen’s $34 billion strategy to topple Tesla as the electric-car leader. It will come in three variants that will offer between 205 and 340 miles of range.

obojo:
what car exactly is a mbenz 200, kompressor huh? ??

Apart from the fact that the c320 is much more electrical ,hence a lot of electrical problems, the bmw 325i comes with a 6cylinder engine with 6plugs while the c320 has a v6 engine with 12plugs,  . now tell me that is not a platform for potential problems,  Esp in this country we live in,  12  plugs,  Think of the servicing alone even if there are no problems.

Like i said if you can afford the maintenance, then buy it
Well, that doesn't make much of a complex engine.

Car TalkRe: How To Save Fuel (great MPG) by gbonsalifus(m): 12:47pm On Jul 12, 2015
jboixxx:
Every time you get behind the wheel there is an opportunity to practically save money. Or improve the fuel-economy of your car. The following are fuel-saving tips.

1. Stay aerodynamic: Wind resistance increases fuel consumption; so try to keep windows closed at high speed and remove roof racks and boxes when not in use. Removing a roof-top cargo box can save as much as 20 per cent on fuel over a year. Slow down According to the AA, dropping from 80mph to 70mph could save you up to 25 per cent on fuel. And if you are on smaller roads, slowing down from 70mph to 60mph could save another 10 per cent.

2. Maintenance: Get your car serviced regularly to maintain engine efficiency and make sure you’re using the correct engine oil....

3. Sensible driving: Read the road ahead, anticipating the actions of other drivers and potential hazards. The less braking and acceleration made in a driving stretch, the less fuel that will be used. For instance, drive smoothly in heavy traffic and avoid driving fast to catch with the car in front so as not to brake randomly.

4. Drop the revs: Some motorists who drive manual transmission vehicles let the revs (revolutions per minute or RPM) run to 3,000 per minute (petrol car) and 2,500 (diesel) before changing up a gear. It is more efficient to move up a gear at 2,500 (petrol) and 2,000 (diesel). Also, use high gears such as fifth and sixth gears sooner than later.

5. Look after tyres: Well maintained tyres are essential for safe and economical driving. Check tyre pressures regularly (especially before a highway journey). Correctly inflated tyres can improve fuel consumption by up to 2 per cent.

6.Reduce weight: A lighter car will use less fuel, therefore do not drive around with unnecessary items in your boot and unless you are on a long journey, consider running your fuel tank half full or less.

7. Speed bumps: Braking hard, accelerating, then braking for the next speed bump is inefficient and uses extra fuel. Try to drive along at a steady 15-20mph instead.

8. Air conditioner or open windows?: The use of air-conditioning slightly increases fuel consumption, especially at low speed. If it’s a hot day, use the air conditioning for high speed driving, but open the windows around town.

9. Ditch the car: It sounds obvious, but the simplest way to save on your fuel costs is to cut your car use – try walking, cycling or use public transport for shorter journeys.

10. Drive a manual: According to the AA, automatics use 10 per cent to 5 per cent more fuel than manuals. However, the gap is closing as modern and efficient semi-automatics become more popular. There is also little difference between automatics and manuals on motorways. Work out how much fuel you use every week. Now try slowing down for a week and see what difference it makes. Find out the facts when thinking about whether you need a car and make sure you know how much different types of cars cost to run.

Car TalkRe: Why Mechanics Hate 2003-2007 Corrolla by gbonsalifus(m): 12:45pm On Jul 12, 2015
chibabe3:
I told my mechanic last year that I was going to buy a 2003 corolla but the guy advised me against buying the ride. His reasons were that the car is not so strong coupled with the fact that the parts are expensive. Anyway I didn't listen to him as I went ahead and bought it having studied the car very well.
I have used the car for more that a year, going to two and now understands why mechanics will not advise you to buy it. Apart from normal servicing, I have never visited the mechanic for any other fault. The other day I saw my mechanic and he was lamenting that he has not seen me this year, 'abi you wan make hunger kill me' grin. Who is ever happy visiting a mechanic, doctor or police.
The miles per gallon of the corolla is very much okay and I must say that it is the best car I have ever used.
When Technology changes a little, they dont adopt on time. Toyota changed the engines in that model year to z-series or something like that (cant remember the exact number)

Car TalkRe: Fastest Speed You Have Ever Driven: Car, Place, Time? by gbonsalifus(m): 12:31pm On Jul 12, 2015
GarbaAudu:
I can't go beyond 140km/hr with a Japanese car. Simply, I don't feel safe. May be with a more heavier European car, I can ONLY test run up to 170km/hr.
.

What you feel to be the weight of a car while you are driving is only 'perceived', though in a good way. A car feels heavy when the suspension is stiff combined with a weighted steering wheel. And that does seem to encourage faster driving. E.g. A Nissan Maxima is 100% Japanese. Thats not really the actual weight of the car. In fact, when a car is actually heavier, its drives worse.

Ikenna351: He said "more economical ", and not "more efficient ". They are two different things in automobile, as far as am concerned.

Ikenna
Ikenna, a thing costs about $500 one time investment and saves u like 1 liter each time u fill ur fuel tank for 2 year. Wouldn't u say that's economical? Must u say something?
Car TalkRe: What Is A Turbo Charged Engine? by gbonsalifus(m): 10:11am On Jan 05, 2014
Ikenna351: For anyone to say turbo engine is more economical to run than NA engine is laughable. Sometimes, you guys really need to drop those your books and get practical.

Back then in Awka, our Peugeot 504 GL propeller shaft failed and also damaged the input spline of the rear differential. While a mechanic was replacing them, a friend came, who was in 400 level, Mechanical Engineering. He pointed at a long pipe and asked me what it was. I told him it was Propeller Shaft. The guy said no, that i was wrong. That it wouldn't be the propeller shaft of the car. I asked why would he say so. He said the drawings of propeller shaft in his books all had fan on one end and bla bla bla. Even when he left, the mechanic who was silent and looked confused all those while the argument was going on asked me " So, is this what they teach you guys in Schools?"

Before, Peugeot turbo engines suffered from cracked cylinder heads, compared to their NA engines. I don't know if the problem has been corrected in their modern turbo engines.

Generally, cost of running turbo engine is higher than that of Naturally Aspirited engine, of the same number of cylinders.

Ikenna.
Very unfortunate explanation of economy.
Car TalkRe: What Is A Turbo Charged Engine? by gbonsalifus(m): 9:56am On Jan 05, 2014
icemann: If its more economical then my friend why haven't car companies adapting this technology in their cars?

So you want blog traffic by putting spin on a simple definition. Don't let me spoil your garri.
your question clearly shows that u are not conversant with the auto industry. The last decade has experienced a steady drop in engine power and top speed for cars (sedan and estates mostly) as emphasis is laid on safety rating. You'll see that most sedans droped their 2.x liter engines for 2.0L engines and we have more 1.8 and 1.6L engines in main stream mid size and compact sedans. So, why would u think people will use turbos that are used to boost power when they actually want to reduce power. And if the only cars u are conversant with are Honda and Toyota cars, then ur answer is they dont use turbos because they dont make high performance cars.
I just did u the favour of this answer for others who would want to know. Next time when u want to know stuff, ask properly.

I've heard so many people; public figures, news casters/presenters, politician pronounce this word 'Nigeria' as Nangeria or Ningeria like there is an 'n' somewhere in the middle. I'm sure I'm not wrong if I say it should be pronounced the way it is written.
