Not again undecided

The people who do comparisons like this should always consider other factors too.

What's SA minimum wage and what's Nigeria's?

Furthermore, a simple Google search would have helped him.
Does South Africa subsidize petrol?:
"Yes, South Africa does subsidize fossil fuels, including petrol, to help manage price volatility and protect consumers."
Has the secret subsidy on imported petrol made petrol cheaper for Nigerians?

Antics or no Antics, whether fuel price can come down to 500 or not is not in Dangote hands ... Na xchange rate fit decide that one

if we wake up tomorrow and xchange rate is $/ 700 .. Fuel price will crash to maybe 500, dangote cant even stop it.

our xchange rate is the Main factor
Of will should have like 10% of people like you understand economic systems without emotions, Nigeria will be a better place.

Do those countries also buy crude in their local currency like you do? Very greedy monopolist.
How does paying crude in your local currency influences or change the fact that Nigerians are suffering from bad government they voted into power because of tribalism and religion?

Yeah, that is a sign that the subsidy costs were so large that by the time it ended, there were a load of outstanding debts...which is what you are referring to.

Subsidy, otherwise, is gone. ANd no, I am not pro-tinubu. This is something I have been backing its removal since 2011, and by the way, I believe the government of today is corrupt, and don't trust them.
Subsidy is gone yet subsidy is been paid, who is deceiving who!

2 major issues keeping Nigerians suffering are Fuel Price and Cost of Custom duty...

Solutions...

Sell Crude oil cheaply to Nigerian refineries so they in turn sell refined product cheaply to the Nigerian Market (Don't follow international crude price for your own people)... Secure the Borders and make it Life sentence for smuggling of certain quantity of fuel...

Number 2 stop charging Custom duty at the Dollars equivalent for an economy with weaker currency... that will kill the citizens... Fix the Custom duty at a specific Naira rates...

All things been equal... If you fear reduction in your tax income (Government)... The reduced amount you will get have more purchasing power as Prices of Goods and services will be reduced... All things been equal...

Only idiots keep doing same thing and expect different results...Stop doing what doesn't work for you Nigerian Government! (unless you are just wicked to your own people)

Let's think outside the box and see!
While the two major solutions according to you Nigerian problems is voting in tribe and religion every fours

"Petrol (gasoline) is a specific refined product of petroleum,

while petroleum is the broader term for the naturally occurring, complex mixture of hydrocarbons and other substances found underground"

It's bad, but the good news is, we are no longer doing it on the government's dime. We are no longer throwing money into a bottomless pit or having people lie to get more subsidy money.

We should have removed subsidy since 1993, folks. We are doing the work we should have done ages ago. At least karma came to bite the ojota organisers in the back. Still, at the end, subsidy had to go. We was running on empty paying for at least 6 or eight african countries' fuel
Go and calculate all the trillions of naira used to cover imported petrol under-recovery cost and stop deceiving yourself of subsidy removal

BusinessRe: These 12 Nigeria Listed Companies Are Worth A Billion Dollars Or More by Gboss247(m): 2:51pm On May 16, 2025
MCentral:
First Bank has a market capitalisation of N1.04 trillion as at May 15th 2025.

That's equivalent to $650 million.

For now only GTB and Zenith BANK have billion dollar valuations among major NigerianBanks.

Glo is probably worth over $1bn (if you compare with MTN Nigeria valuation) but its not listed on the stock exchange to get its real value so its excluded for now.
Oga, you need to know the difference between a subsidiary and a parent company.
First Bank (an unlisted company) is a 100% owned subsidiary of First Holdco Plc (a listed company). Gtbank also is a subsidiary of GTCO.
Note the difference!
