Sports / Sadio Mane’s House Robbed During Champions League Match by GE9JA(f): 9:30am On Feb 21, 2019
During the champions league last-16 first-leg match between Liverpool and Bayern Munich at Anfield on Tuesday, The Senegal & Liverpool player, Sadio Mane had his house robbed.

Mane played the full 90 minutes during the goalless draw at Anfield.

But during the last 16 first leg tie, the Liverpool Echo reports that a number of people forced entry into his Merseyside home in Allerton.

The BBC reported that watches, mobile phones, and car keys were stolen.

A forensic investigation of the home has now been carried out by police, and officers are appealing for the stolen items to be returned.

Detective Inspector Phil Mahon said:

“We are appealing for anyone with information in relation to this burglary to please come forward and assist our enquiries.

“While the occupants were not present at the time of the incident, this will no doubt be a distressing experience for them and I would ask the offenders to do the right thing and return the stolen items to the owner in any way possible.

“We know the watches in particular are of significant monetary value and I would also like to appeal to anyone who might have been offered the items for sale since the burglary to contact police.

“Likewise if you saw anything suspicious in the area, or have any dashcam or CCTV footage, please get in touch.”

Politics / Buhari Is One Of The Most Committed Person I Have Met’ – Osinbajo. by GE9JA(f): 9:07am On Feb 21, 2019
GE9JA

The interactive session tagged: “Unveiling The Truth”, organised by young Christian group, had some Christian leaders in attendance.

Participants used the occasion to ask plenty of questions bothering on insecurity, economy, blaming of past administrations, social welfare for the unemployed, corruption, and timing of TraderMoni. Other questions bothered on Next Level slogan, farmer/herders crisis, lopsided federal appointments, Islamisation, Buhari’s commitment to address critical issues in the country among others.
Responding, Osinbajo said that President Buhari was committed to addressing the problems facing the country such as security, economic and fixing critical infrastructure and fair treatment of all sections.
He said Buhari was addressing farmer/herders crises and had no intention at all to Islamise the country. “President Muhammadu is possibly one of the most committed people I have ever met. He is committed to seeing that resources of this country are used for this country.

“In general term, we find that there is fairness in the distribution of appointments. Many of the accusations against Buhari are not true. “Sometimes, people listen to propaganda and if we look at the facts, things are totally different.
On Islamisation, first of all, it is untrue, it is propaganda. “Anybody who complains that President Buhari is propagating islamic agenda, how is that possible? “A lot of these are just propaganda, never listen to these. Many of these are absurd, they are deliberate propaganda. They come from the same source. Don’t believe them. Let’s be fair,” Osinbajo said.
The vice president, who urged Nigerians not to fear or doubt the good intention of the President, advised Nigerians to stop spreading rumours about things that never happened. Osinbajo noted that the major cause of farmer/herder crisis remained pasture and water which the government had made concerted efforts to address.
On the lopsided federal appointments, Osinbajo said that the Southeast with five states had five had five ministers more than some regions with higher number of states.
On TraderMoni, he said that the national assembly approved the money for it and that it was meant to lift many Nigerians out of poverty.

Celebrities / Boobs Palaver: Meet Cossy Orjiakor’s Top 5 Challengers - ( Pictures ) by GE9JA(f): 8:35am On Feb 21, 2019
GE9JA

Nollywood diva and singer, Cossy Orjiakor has never had to worry who has charge of any hall she finds herself as she is sure to hug all the attention, thanks to her humongous boobs that never fail to be on a stake-out. She has been described on too many occasions as Nollywood’s queen of boobs.
Her reign has even extended to every part of Africa and the world. Last year, she was honoured in Germany as one of the most daring actresses out of Africa. But the spot she enjoys as supremo uno in the mammary region is fast becoming crowded as more and more challengers are springing up, not only to compete with her but also taking the challenge to her doorstep.

Number one is Sarafina Onyekachi, who took the Nutty Queen on in the movie ‘Ara Sarafina’, where the duo went head to head in a boobs contest.
“ Yes, there was boobs competition which I won. But I must confess Saraphina is bigger than me. I only won the contest because she failed a question and I was the next best and more enlightened, so, I won,” Cossy would say of the movie contest afterward.

Number two is an unknown Instagram celebrity, who calls herself Roman Goddess . According to Cossy, the girl, who was a fan turned up on her birthday and pronto, Cossy had another challenge on her hands. “She’s a super sexy curvy chick,” says Cossy. “She carry front, she carry back. She is too packaged. I must examine and evaluate this super sexy curvy chic. She’s a good fan that has turned a friend” she said.

Number three is a Ghanaian upcoming actress and model called Duchess Ella.
Unlike the duo mentioned earlier she has never met Cossy but people have been blowing up a possible confrontation between them. Duchess made a great hit with Instagram followers notching up close to fifty thousand followers. She’s very huge in the bosom but she doesn’t flaunt it like Cossy or Roman Goddess. Just like Sarafina once said, “ What’s the use of flaunting my boobs when they are all out there for people to see”. Duchess Ella must share the same belief

Number four on our list – Ejine Okoroafor no doubt like Ejine once said, the big bustty thing is really a family trait because according to her, everyone in her family from her mother to her sisters without excluding Cossy have got them big.
However, Ejine is one of the few big bust queens who ain’t endowed with flaunting her natural endowment.

Number five on the list – Mercy Asiedu though she is happily married, but yet seem a very big challenge to Cossy in the industry.

According to Mercy Asiedu, her husband fell in love with her for her role in the movie ‘Asore Ba’. Mercy is one of Ghana’s successful Kumawood actresses. She has been in the industry for over a decade and known for her talent. She has featured in over 50 movies.

Politics / Recap:- Estimated Cost Of Election Postponement In Nigeria - Vanguard by GE9JA(f): 7:08am On Feb 21, 2019
GE9JA

Nigerians on Sunday earlier this week counted the cost of the last-minute postponement of presidential elections, with predictions the delay could lose the country billions of dollars.

The streets of Lagos, the countrys sprawling commercial hub of more than 20 million people, were empty following disappointment and anger at the last-minute decision.

Some 84 million people were registered to vote for a new president and parliament on Saturday until the Independent National Electoral Commission announced a one-week delay.

The two main candidates -- President Muhammadu Buhari and Atiku Abubakar -- both called for calm, as INEC prepared to address logistical issues that hampered their preparations.

Despite the billions of dollars earned in oil revenue, most Nigerians live in poverty and travelling to their home towns and villages to vote is a financial sacrifice for many.

Most businesses shut down on Friday to allow employees to leave before movement restrictions were imposed throughout Saturday. Airports and land borders were also closed.

FINANCIAL HIT

The director-general of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Muda Yusuf, estimated financial losses from the election delay at some $1.5 billion.

"The cost to the economy of the postponement of the election is horrendous," he was quoted as saying in the Sunday Vanguard newspaper.

"The economy was on partial shutdown the day before (Friday), and total shut-down on Saturday for the elections." he added.

Economist Bismark Rewane, however, said the most important cost was to Nigerias reputation.

"Investors confidence will be eroded," he said.

In the long term, when indirect costs were taken into account, the delay might cost the equivalent of 2.0 to 2.5 percent of gross domestic product.

In currency terms, he assessed the possible cost of the delay at "about $9 billion to $10 billion".

Social media was used meanwhile to organise collections for street vendors who had bought perishable items to sell to voters that often wait in long lines.

The amount ultimately raised was unlikely to make much difference to tens of millions of people who live on less than $1.90 a day.

INEC announced the delay at 2:45 am on Saturday, just over five hours before the nearly 120,000 polling units were due open across the country.

Yakubu said a combination of factors, including last-minute legal challenges to candidacies, bad weather and sabotage hampered the distribution of election materials.

Ballot boxes and other items, including voter card readers, were destroyed in three fires at three separate INEC offices in central and southeastern states in the last two weeks.

He explained that organising elections in Africas most populous nation of some 190 million people was an "enormous undertaking" and "operational challenges" were expected.

The election body took "full responsiblity", he said but denied there had been any political interference.

PREVIOUS DELAYS

The election is the sixth to be held in the 20 years since Nigeria returned to civilian rule after decades of military government.

But the delay is also not a first: in 2011, the date of general elections was pushed back twice, and notably even after voting had started.

Yakubus predecessor as INEC chairman made the "emergency" decision after it emerged that many polling units had no election materials.

Violence that erupted after the election, which was won by Goodluck Jonathan, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), killed more than 1,000 across the country.

In 2015, a six-week delay was announced one week before the scheduled vote. INEC said it acted on military advice because of fighting against Boko Haram in the northeast.

A leading Nigerian civil society group, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, on Sunday blamed successive governments for the repeated election delays.

It said there was an "increasing tendency to postpone elections... over the years" and that it would look at taking legal action against those responsible.

There have been calls online for Yakubu to resign as INEC chairman but SERAP deputy director Kolawole Oluwadare said that was a "blatant attempt by politicians to scapegoat the electoral commission" rather than the root causes.

In 2011, leading human rights lawyer Femi Falana said of that years delay: "It is frustrating and disappointing. This is evidence of the collapse of state institutions."

Politics / President Buhari Wants Elections To Be Postponed Again – CUPP by GE9JA(f): 9:10am On Feb 20, 2019
GE9JA

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has alleged that President Buhari is planning on shifting the rescheduled February 23rd election.

The group also claims that the Department of State Services (DSS) will today arrest the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) commissioner in charge of operations and logistics, Prof. Okechukwu Ibeanu.

CUPP spokesman, Imo Ugochinyere said the planned arrest was due to his alleged refusal to help the All Progressives Congress (APC) government sabotage distribution and compromise of sensitive election materials.

CUPP said:

“The Refusal of INEC to proceed with staggered election during the aborted Feb 16 election which ruined Buhari APC rigging plan is the reason for the new offensive action against INEC to intimidate them into submission.

“The idea to detain the Federal Commissioner today was on the sole instigation of the former DG of the DSS Lawal Daura who still runs the agency by proxy and convinced Buhari to allow the use of the DSS to clampdown on INEC to force them to do their bidding or sabotage the rescheduled election and stop it from holding.

“We call on all Nigerians to rise up on against this ongoing leadership abuse and madness which have the potentiality to throw Nigeria into an electoral violence that will enable Buhari execute his lawless order that Security agencies should publicly start killing people under the guise of Ballot box snatching.”

Politics / APC Is In Total Control Of INEC, El-Rufai & Zakari In Charge Of ICT - PDP by GE9JA(f): 4:28am On Feb 20, 2019
GE9JA

The Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, has accused the All Progressives Congress, APC, of being in total control of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

It also claimed that Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai and Amina Zakari are in charge of the Information and Communication Technology, ICT, of the electoral body.

National chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus, made this claim on Tuesday during PDP’s emergency National Executive Council, NEC, meeting in Abuja.

He was reacting to the allegation by the APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, on Monday that INEC informed the PDP before postponing the presidential and National Assembly elections earlier scheduled to hold on February 16.

He said, “Since last Saturday they have been talking and making claims, they even accused INEC of telling us before postponing the election. All they have been saying is they are not aware, they don’t know but I dare to say that the government is in totally in control of INEC.

“This government appointed one of the vendors who is from the Villa and the other is from Niger State and they are members of APC.

“The ICT of INEC is totally controlled by El-Rufai and Amina Zakari, so I don’t see how they will turn around overnight. But maybe it’s part of their plans to win, but Nigerians know the facts. This government is in control of INEC.”

Speaking at the event, Senate President and Director PDP Presidential Campaign Council, Bukola Saraki, stated, that Nigerians accepted the opposition party because they have become tired of “unemployment and poverty”.

“Nigerians are tired of insecurity, unemployment and poverty. Nobody wants to be insecure, unemployed or poor. This is why our message has resonated across the country.”

He then called on Nigerians to come out to vote during the rescheduled elections on Saturday, saying “We have four more days to go. I want to appeal to Nigerians, do not let them frustrate you. When there is a low turnout, they can rig, but if you come out to vote, they cannot.

“When you come out to vote on Saturday, do you want a Nigeria that that adheres to the rule of law, or do you want a Nigeria that is governed by jungle justice?

“On Saturday, when you come out to vote, vote for Nigeria.”

Politics / Election Postponement: NANS Threaten To Go On Strike On Monday by GE9JA(f): 4:13pm On Feb 16, 2019
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on Saturday, condemned the postponement of the general elections by the Independent National Electoral commission (INEC).

Addressing a news conference in Abeokuta on Sunday, Spokesman of the association, Mr Azeez Adeyemi, said that the students would organise nationwide protest against the development on Monday, NAN reports

He stated that the association was fully mobilised for the protest and that no attempt to stop it would succeed.

He described the situation as “show of shame and disgrace of a country”, adding that countries often learnt from their past, “but that it is not so with Nigeria”.

Adeyemi cautioned that the sovereignty of Nigeria should not be toyed with by selfish leaders, adding that the unity of the country should not be frustrated.

He stated that it was a shame and a bad signal to worldwide observers that the sincerity in the forthcoming elections was diminishing.

“The sovereignty of Nigeria should not be toyed with by any leader. Our forefathers fought for this; the unity of the nation should not be frustrated.

“Our position is that INEC chairman should resign. President Muhammadu Buhari should strengthen Nigeria’s security.

The Corp members who were enlisted to serve as ad hoc officers during the election that was scheduled to hold today, February 16th reveal the dismal and neglected positions they were left in. Most of them went down to the polling units where they were supposed to serve yesterday, Friday February 15th and dicovered that there was no provision for accomodation or feeding for them.

They took to sleeping under the sky, inside buses, with no security whatsoever and nothing to eat or drink.

The pictures have surfaced online and Nigerians are outraged at this utter neglect of human lives under the guise of 'serving the country'. Some Nigerians on social media have started reaching out to corp members in communities around them to provide them at least shelter and food.

Twitter is of course agog with the bitter sentiments of this oversight and it is directed towards the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for failing our youths once again.

@Osi_Suave wrote,'The NYSC should stop allowing corp members to be used as adhoc staff if there is zero provision for their welfare and accomodation really.

@victoria_oy wrote,'So this is the rubbish NYSC is putting us through this night,no provision for beds, dinner or even security... Just so elections can go on tomorrow. This country is bleeped up. Some of you will still vote for the same rubbish even after all the suffering we are presently enduring.

@DrOlufunmilayo wrote,'These are NYSC members having to sleep on grass and bare floor just to help with their country’s national elections. Why do we treat people so inhumanly? Why do we make everything so difficult for each other? What if a snake bites these people? This is a real national disgrace

@TosinOlugbenga wrote,'I expect NYSC to condemn this nonsense and do better in the future by engaging INEC about the welfare of the corpers. Be assure provisions were made for accommodation and their feeding. Same happened to us in 2011 when I was a corper,no food we slept in the cold open space
