Quite a peaceful place currently but I can't say for Damaturu but Fika LG (Kukar Gardu) closer to Damaturu is also very peaceful, have friendly people and is also a rare settlement in the North where Christians and Muslims live peacefully and look out for each other daily.

I intend to serve in Yobe state , but I am just concerned about some things.
For anyone who has lived or served in Yobe state before, how’s life in Damaturu? Are the people friendly?
Besides is accommodation affordable there? I intend to stay in New Jerusalem,are there niceself cons in this area, and one trivial issue that bothers me is I am a very open person and I alike making friends.
I hope it is not a taboo over there if any of my female friends visit me or tend to stay the night. I hope I won’t have problem with the Yobe people because of that .
