ABUJA- THE Senate has called on the international
community to support Nigeria in her efforts to reposition
and grow the economy.

According to the Senate, the call has become imperative
because the present administration in Nigeria concerned
about shrinking revenue from oil and hence the need to
diversify the economy through through creation of
global partnerships and attraction of direct foreign
investments.

This was made by a Senate delegation at separate
bilateral meetings with German and French delegates
during the just concluded 4th UN International
Conference for Heads of Parliaments in New York.

Members of the delegation led by the Senate President,
Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, included the Chairman of
the Senate Adhoc Committee on Media and Publicity,
Senator Dino Melaye and Senator Andy Uba (Anambra
South).

Saraki in the first bilateral meeting with his German
counterpart, Volker Bouffier, the Minister-President of
Hesse, stressed the need for Nigeria and Germany to
work together in increasing the trade volume between
both countries.

A statement for Saraki’s office read: “Nigeria needs the
support of the International Community to grow and
reposition the economy made worse by the dwindling
price of oil at the international market.

“In his second meeting with Laurence Dumont, the
Socialist Deputy of Calvados, and the Vice-President of
the National Assembly of France, Saraki reiterated the
need for international support and enabling laws to help
Nigeria repatriate illicit funds that were moved out of
Nigeria through corrupt practices.”

According to the statement, the Senate President told
the French parliamentary delegation that the move
would support the efforts of the present administration
aimed at boosting the economy of the country.

Saraki also stated that another area where Nigeria and
France can partner on, is in the generation and
transmission of power, which will help boost
employment of youths in Nigeria.

The Senate President noted that over the years, Nigeria
and France have enjoyed strong relationship at various
levels and that it was time for the parliaments of both
countries to collaborate in more socio-economic areas

.
He also commended the French government for planning
regional approaches to combat terrorism, while saying
that the meeting of parliamentary heads came at the
right time, as such meetings provide Nigeria with new
opportunities to press the reset button with many
countries in the international community.

A Lagos High Court, sitting in Ikeja, has issued a bench
warrant for the arrest of a popular society lady,
Princess Abiodun Folasade Madojutimi Omotade. The
bench warrant was issued by Hon. Justice L.A.F
Oluyemi, following the refusal of Omotade (defendant)
to appear before it on contempt proceeding on Tuesday,
July 21, 2015.

In the warrant, the Judge ordered all security agencies,
the Nigerian Police Force, Nigeria Immigration Service,
Nigerian Customs Service, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air
Force, International Police, (INTERPOL) and all other
security forces to arrest her and put her in prison until
September 23, 2015 when the case will come up for
hearing..




“It is hereby ordered: Order bench Warrant to be and
same is hereby issued against the 1st defendant/
contempnor, Miss Folasade Abiodun Adesokan, aka Mrs.
Omotade, for her arrest by any enforcement agency/
agent in Nigeria; and to remain in prison custody when
apprehended till the next hearing date which is 23rd
September, 2015, for hearing of the contempt
proceedings,” he ordered.


Princess Abiodun Folasade Madojutimi Omotade is one
of the two wives of late Mr. Olaseni Ayodeji Omotade
who died in plane crash on 22nd of October, 2005,
leaving the family without any will.
Grace Omotade, one of the wives with three children
(Oluwafumilayo, Oluwaseun and Onikepo), who claims
to be the only legal wife and a matron packed out of
her matrimonial home in annoyance when her late
husband, then in his prime, brought in Folasade whom
she viewed as his mistress.


As at the time Olaseni died, Folasade, who was the only
woman then in the house allegedly cornered all the
properties and embarked on asset stripping, disposing
all the properties and assets of late Olaseni without the
knowledge of Grace. The bubble burst when she
attempted to dispose the family property at No. 5a and
5b, Kayode Alli Street, Omole Phase I, Ikeja, Lagos.


Grace got a hint of the development and filed Suit No:
ID/183M/2006 seeking an order restraining and
preventing Folasade and her agents from selling,
disposing off and/or leasing the property at Omole
Phase I and an order directing and/or mandating the
Registrar of the court and or the Deputy Sheriff to put
the property under lock and key and deposit same with
the Honourable court pending the determination of the
case.


The order was granted by Hon Justice Williams Dawodu
on July 10, 2006, wherein the Honourable judge ordered
that parties shall maintain the status quo pending the
determination of the interlocutory application. But the
defendant went ahead to sell the said property in
defiance of the court order for N55 million to Mr.
Raphael Adeyemi and Mrs. Abimbola Aina, prompting
the claimant to institute contempt of court proceeding
against her.


The deed of sale was sealed and delivered by Princess
Abiodun F. M. Omotade in the presence of Mr. Isaac
Alabi, a baker at 1/3 Isaac Alabi Crescent and Modupe
Ladele, a Lawyer at 14 Abimbola Street, Alapere.
However, the defendant, Folasade, however, averred that
she remains the only surviving wife of the deceased
with three children and that the first claimant, Grace,
was a mere concubine and in the course of her co-
habitation with the deceased claimed to have had 3
children for the deceased.


Folasade further stated that she was three months
pregnant when she lost her husband and that she gave
birth to a set of twin named Taiwo Oluwadamilare
Omotade and Kehinde Ayooluwa Omotade on May 17,
2006 and that she currently has three children for the
deceased, namely, Oyinkansola Omotade, Taiwo
Oluwadamilare Omotade and Kehinde Ayooluwa
Omotade.

defeated Brazil 2-1 at the on-going Suwon
Continental Cup International Youth (U-17) Football
Tournament in Korea..

Kingsley Michael and Chukwudi Agor scored two
first-half goals while David Enogela conceded a
second-half own goal to get the Brazilians back in
the game.
The Eaglets, who had drawn 1-1 with hosts Korea
on Wednesday, shot their way to the top of the
Four-Nation Tournament with four points.

The Golden Eaglets took the lead through Michael in
the 20th minute when he delicately placed the ball
behind Juliano after the goalkeeper had initially
saved Victor Oshimen’s powerful shot.
Twelve minutes later, Osimhen again laid the ball on
the path of Chukwudi Agor who shot from an acute
angle to score his first goal in national team
colours.

The Brazilians swooped on the Eaglets in the
second half and Evander saw his shot ricochet off

Lagos – The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says it
plans to auction N814.78 billion in Treasury bills
between Sept. 17 to Dec. 3.

According to the bank’s data on Friday, it will auction
N215.14 billion worth of the 3-month paper, N193.64
billion in the 6-month debt and N406 billion worth of 1-
year paper.

It said that the total debt proposed for the fourth
quarter would be 6.66 per cent short of the N872.96
billion raised earlier in the year.

Ibadan – Prof. Gbemisola Oke, the
Deputy
Vice-Chancellor (Academics),
University of
Ibadan, said that the institution
could only
admit 3,000 out of over 33,000
candidates that
applied for admission for next

session. Oke spoke on Friday in
Ibadan at a
stakeholders’ forum, organised by
the Distance
Learning Centre (DLC) of the
