Even after I explained that I was only illustrating that some of us eat out, you still held on to your assumption.

I responded to what you actually wrote. You called her a tailor apprentice and mocked her for being "hungry for" her standard, while also calling her "broke," as if being tailor means she is not allowed to set her own standards. She is free to decide that she will not cook or clean for her boyfriend, just as you are free to believe that a woman should cook and clean for her boyfriend. But if your actual concern was her decision not to help her boyfriend with chores, you could have addressed that directly without mocking her occupation or financial situation.

I remember a case of a university dropout here in Nigeria who eventually employed the best graduating student from the set he was supposed to graduate with, offering a salary of 500,000 naira at the time. People had seen him as a dullard because he had dropped out after struggling academically, but he saw himself differently. Instead of returning home to tell his parents he had dropped out, he stayed back and used the school fees his struggling parents sent him, as they believed he was still in school, to start selling items and foodstuffs to students. While others were in class, he was doing business, and he eventually grew to the point of establishing companies.

The lesson is simple: someone's current situation does not tell you what they are capable of becoming. Let's learn to encourage legitimate startups and businesses rather than mock people who are still building themselves.

Respect to those still hustling legitimately. Almost half of the Nigerian population, especially young men, have lost interest in legitimate businesses and resort to other means of making money.
