biznus:

Downloading directly is not the issue. The issue is this is the first time I'm getting as large as greater than 1gb.
I usually download with Airtel night plan of 1gb.
any ideas on how to download 2gb without using my main sub? Ie is it possible to use 1gb from my Airtel then pause, switch to my main Glo sub and continue download
it's rn7 You can do Glo night 1GB more than once a night. |

biznus: okay does downloading manually reduce the amount of data required. In this case less than 2gb Redmi 8 full Recovery ROM is 2GB and that is what is pushed whenever there is a major update. |

And yes, I have got mi account set up on the device. I doubt that. Go forward with the tracking. |

oshdot: Hi guys, my redmi note 8 I bought about a month ago got stolen mehn, what do you guys suggest I do. I have been in a bad mood for days now.
NB: how true is it that a phone IMEI can be erased hence making it nearly impossible to track the phone? Take the carton and receipt to Police State HQ, it will cost you sha and might take time. Another option is to lock the phone with your mi account if you have one and your phone is linked to it. |

olayinkajnr: Guys, please it won't take anything to research your phone first before getting it, and secondly before even tweaking it.
For those that are using MTK variants of Xiaomi devices, know that even with an unlocked bootloader and a bricked phone, there's a 99% chance that you'll still need an authenticated mi account before you can flash that phone via SP flash tools.
A case where someone used mi flash tools instead of SP flash tools to flash global fastboot rom on a MTK Redmi device. A very costly mistake. I see they have reached out to you. They don't ask questions before embarking on anything till problem ensues. We always say if you know you want to tweak, MTK is not for you. If you know you are not okay with Chinese ROM avoid MTK especially when you don't know much if at all there is a Global ROM. |

Airborne02: chai so which one is d one to use.. I tot redmi is not mkt na i will change it ooo. But note9 is not mkt na Xiaomi uses the latest of Snapdragon and Mediatek. They use Snapdragon more than Mediatek though. For the Redmi Note 9 series. RN9 - MTK Helio G85 RN9s - SD 720G RN9 Pro - SD 720G. It is a pity you didn't check specifications of what you are buying. |

Mrcalxy: I dey tells you.
Your usage matters as well as if you're unlucky to get a bad unit.
For me, I feel around 6 months is enough for you to start seeing depletion of the battery capacity.
I'm a heavy user though, light to moderate users can enjoy their battery for longer lifespan. You are on point. |

anastasius: Ok. How do I download this manually? This phone latest is Android 10. I don't know if it will work directly. (Android 10) https://bigota.d.miui.com/V11.0.1.0.QCPMIXM/miui_OLIVELITEGlobal_V11.0.1.0.QCPMIXM_0d091c0c4e_10.0.zipHow to manually update.. Go to Settings > About phone > System update. If tapping the 3-dot button shows the “Choose update package” option, click on that and choose the downloaded ROM from your internal storage or SD card. In case you don’t find the “Choose update package” option from the 3-dot menu, tap on the MIUI 11 logo inside the “System update” page several times. A prompt will then show that additional updater settings are now available. Now you can tap on Choose update package and select the MIUI 10 update file That’s it. The system will start decrypting the file and install it automatically for you. Wait for it to finish the process, which may take 10-30 mins Data should be on during the decryption process |

Fokosobo: Just 2months? that cannot be ageing. it takes a minimum of 1yr before lithium ion batteries start showing signs of deterioration. Depending on usage, most of them can last up to 4yrs before losing Their backup considerably. your phone probably has other issues. That is not entirely true. This is on paper not practically. |
Phones › Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by genius43(m): 8:20am On Oct 03, 2020 |
Fokosobo: I dread updates right from the days of Nokia. I had a nasty experience sometime in 2013 when I decided to update my Nokia OS, I eventually sold the phone.
Updating is a 50/50 thing. your phone either gets better or gets worse. Most times it is usually worse and may even get bricked. Unfortunately it is irreversible.
You can do your research and you will see that more than 50% of people always complain after their OS update. Nothing beats the one preinstalled from the factory.
I don't bother about updates as long as my phone is still performing well. If i want an update, I will buy another phone. You are definitely on a long thing. Xiaomi adds features upon features and bring a lot of improvements along the way. Dead this your mentality, it is archaic. Since I started using phones, I don't skip updates. My Camera outputs where not as good two years ago when I got my phone. If there are bugs they get fixed. Heck even the OS that come with phones are buggy, that is why most times a new software update is released a week after release. |
