Hey guys,

Please, a friend needs help. He bought a fairly used Redmi Note 8 and gave it to me to help him install some apps. However, I noticed that the first space of the device has no camera and theme app.

In fact, the basic theme in the device settings isn't clickable. So I went on to update the device to the latest version, still the problem persists. Everything works perfectly in the second space.

Kindly note that the device has no MI Account on it and has been used to snap photos in the past. A few other inbuilt apps aren't present too.

What could the problem be and how do we solve it? I will appreciate every input. Thanks!

Hard reboot your device severally. Or Download Full ROM and Re-install manually.

Haven't you installed Gcam on your phone? Hypercam is a Gcam. And the Gcam I shared for 9S is best for 9S. Don't start jumping from one to another.

Snapseed and Lightroom are not camera apps but photo editors.

Snapseed is free on playstore (owned by Google), Adobe Lightroom is paid but the mod can be downloaded with a Google search.

The most important thing is for you to learn how to take good photos. Page 1 of this thread should put you on track.

I still dey wonder why note 8 pro dey even more expensive than note 9s despite almost one year of release. Something must be about that phone to make xiaomi value it more than note 9s.

You are supposed to update through the updater, I am saying if you know your network is unstable downloading and installing manually is a viable option.

You should have asked for a link and download manually with a download manager. Then manually install the ROM

A phone is called global version because it was made for the international market which Nigeria belongs to and not a region.

And also don't confuse your self with Xiaomi Indian/Chinese and Global naming schemes focus on Global naming except otherwise. The RN9 series naming was treated in the link below.

Watch the charger for now. It might be as a result of bad source of electricity.

Probably because there is no update for your phone. Redmi Note 9s and 9 Pro are different phones with different ROM.

I just unboxed yesterday, and tried updating like you asked, but from the screenshot below, it says no update available.

Plus, on my settings>>Display... I can't find an option to change my font, this default font is killing me..

We have said this here time after time. Change Region to India pick and apply a font. Then change your region back to Nigeria.

Sorry, Redmi 7a hardly have a port because of the 32bit OS.

If you're Tech savvy, You can unlock and install EU ROM from xiaomi.eu.
This solves all of your problems, considering that Google play services is just one, out of many features absent from the China rom.

He haven't even gotten the phone, neither does he know what he is getting. Make the fish boil before we reason frying.

I've been trying to setup Gcam for awhile now, I've done everything including creating folders and installing the Gcam.
but when I open the Gcam and double tap on the black area, it says no configuration found.

Your big error is from the folder. It is GCam not Gcam. And to think I wasted my time writing a long lesson where I clearly stated that it is case sensitive.

Download Google Installer Apk.

It is about 500Kb..

After you have installed the App..

Click on it and allow it to start running.

It will proceed to install all the Google Apps one at a time until it is done.

Finish.

You are good to go..
