samyd1: please a good Samaritan should help do a thread on this
global ROM Chinese ROM global version Indian version
Nigerian version (lol)
me no kuku know which where I dey may be na local ROM ..... Doesn't need a thread, it have been explained severally. Chinese ROM(CN) - Comes with Chinese Versions, due to China rules it has no Google services pre-installed and only supports two Languages Chinese and English. It has less themes and fonts in the theme app compared to Global ROM. Global ROM - Built for markets outside China. Has Google apps pre-installed. Has support for a lot of languages. Has more theme support. Global ROMs are further splitted to suit some regions and country regulations like EEA(EU) ROM, Russia ROM and Indian ROM. VERSIONS: Chinese Version - Comes with CN ROM. Has lesser 4G bands. India Version - Indian Version comes with Indian ROM and has LTE bands used in Indian. Global Version - Has more LTE bands aimed for their international markets. (This is the one that comes to Nigeria, offered by Xiaomi Nigeria) European version - for the European Union usually more expensive due to taxes and has no ads. But it has the same Hardware as the Global Version. |

TYglobal: That was how I became a free marketer for Xiaomi and photographer in church today, everyone kept asking the name of the phone but gcam fell my hand sha, it kept crashing so I had to stick to stock camera and it still did a great job but the portrait is really messed up and couldnt focus, any way to improve it?
P.S I use the 3gb ram version and I've tried all gcam mods already even that of rn7pro still same crashing issue. Stop taking a lot of photos simultaneously. Your next phone should be a minimum of 4Gb RAM |

colorsofrainbow: ok.is it much of a big deal? talking about lte networks,i gues other networks aside glo are compatible.could i be wrong? They are except you find yourself in areas where MTN only has band 20 installed. And you can't use Smile. As for side-loading it's not much of a big deal but in anytime you reset your phone you have to do it again. Sometimes the side-loaded apps misbehave but you will get a hold of it. |

Phones › Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by genius43(m): 1:49pm On Sep 29, 2019 |
Peppul: is it not advisable to buy a the one with china rom, because am planning to get one and i found out from one of the seller that the china varient is cheaper with 24k difference from the global rom RN8 don't have Global Version yet only the RN8 Pro for now. And as for the RN8 Pro if it is offered in Nigeria it will be cheaper than AE. Also know that the RN8 Pro Global Version is more expensive currently by a distance because it just came out, the price will stabilise with time. Now if you can handle Chinese version/ROM limitations go with it. |

KngGezy: Yes true Sir, but I wouldn't want to upload a favourite movie of 1gb. Only to later download it again from cloud for another 1Gb. When I could have kept it if I had a large memory card. It is duplicity of process and in its entirety a waste of data.
Data that could have been used to download newer movies. Apart from using cloud to store some important picture moments. I find storing my recoverable data on cloud repulsive.
Although if you have the excess data to give out. It shouldn't be much of an issue. Personal choice why upload a video you didn't make or probably downloaded from somewhere and can easily download. I even a lot of peeps who don't download and keep music but stream it anytime they feel like on Apple Music, Spotify and Tidal. Netflix and co is there as well though. It is all because of the nature of Nigeria, the world is moving past that era. |

EseAbed: Bros abeg,
What's your advise for someone like me that wants to upgrade to the RN8 cos of dedicated sim slot, a better ram too? Cos this my 3gb ram is kinda frustrating me most especially with GCAM, the thing(gcam) go just dey hang oninown then close..
Would you rather I fashee the RN8 and get a flashdrive so I can use both sims or?
Is there anything that can be done about the ram management?
Cos I still loff ds my phone O.. I'm having this silent fear that the RN8 could be worse. Make I no go from frying pan enter fire. Thanks. RN8 should be better. If you could afford the 6/128Gb version of RN8 better. I just hope they make all variants Global |

KngGezy: Very true Sir , but most importantly fixing a product that is still under warranty with an unaccredited repairer will remove the warranty.
And the stress of re ordering a part, waiting for shipping , visiting the post office and looking for a capable repairer. All these processes will extend not less than 7days and up to a month You can even change it yourself, the screen comes with a kit. Also any good phone repairer can change it. Xiaomi phones are not rocket science. Ordering of screen or parts is not limited to Xiaomi, when I was using Samsung S4, I had to order an Lemon battery from AE because I couldn't get a good replacement battery around my location. |

KngGezy: And to add to this movies videos can't be uploaded. I think data accumulated in the upload and download of that data will cost more than your SD card.
Btw if you uploaded for lack of space and your phone memory is equally filled with important data . Please answer me Sir, were do you turn to? Videos can be uploaded bro. Where are you getting that false notion from? |
Phones › Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by genius43(m): 1:21pm On Sep 29, 2019 |
KngGezy: You can afford data for uploading 250 gb+ worth of data and downloading another 250 gb + worth of the same data. Is that not penny wise pound less wise.
Yes I admit having separate storage for files is the best for easy recovery. But nevertheless the hard drive can be easily corrupted. And I doubt with constant usage whether it can stay up to 5 years SD card can also be corrupted. If you are scared of HDDs, SSDs are there. |

HeavenlyBang: MI 9 SE took the better shot, by far. A50 Absolutely messed up exposure, had plenty of noise, and even had issues with focus/motion blurring. There's a bit of motion blurring in the SE's shot but it's still a lot better. The Mi 9 SE captured more details as well |
Phones › Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by genius43(m): 1:08pm On Sep 29, 2019 |
KngGezy: Now to the price of the screen. Samsung supplies most of the amoled screens in the market. I was viewing this thread when someone complained that his LCD screen of his RN7 was bad and he took it to their newly opened service centre at ikeja. And they charged him more than the cost price.
I was also here when a pleasant person advised his brother to return his Mi9t because of cost of replacing the amoled screen. And unfortunately the screen of the RN7 despite being gorilla glass gave in some weeks after.
Now to hit the nail on the head. Amoled screens cost far more than average screens. It is a well known fact it is not a Particular Samsung issue. It is just how it is. Two amoled 32 inch screens at home got broken. Cost of replacement was going to be more than the cost price. Its common to amoled screens It was a Mi A3 not Mi 9T |

KngGezy: If you calculate the background data it cost you to store important media on cloud. Except you choose when to upload and make sure it's on free data or wifi. You will discover that cloud storage is a scam. Besides movies and videos cannot stood on cloud storage. Nowadays high video quality can produce 30 minutes videos of 1gb +
And OTGs and laptops are not like the phone. They are external attachments which are liable to be destroyed by dust, water, etc 1. Professional in media don't rely solely on their mobile phones. When you say high video quality be specific. And the size of videos depends on alot of factors. Frame rate, audio codec, encoding as well as final video output after editing. Videos and movies can be stored in the cloud. Common this is 2019. 2. At the bolded you said OTG and Laptops are external attachments which are liable to be spoiled by dust and water. Are you saying your mobile phone is not prone to damage? Or an SD card is not prone to data corruption as a result of missing or bad sectors as when as viruses? Also a laptop is not an external attachment |

KngGezy: Apple iphone 6 has 16gig rom no sd card slot. If you have a phone of 5 years without deleting files to make space for another. Nor reselling to add money and buy another phone. You will discover that the 500 gb will not be enough And alot of people are still buying the iPhone without SD card support. Most people keep things in virtual/cloud storage instead of their memories these days. If you have a laptop or OTG flash drive better. Who needs SD card these days. |

Tiger2020: besides most of this phones that doesn't have SD cards slot has much internal memory (128,256 and 502) what are you saving in your memory that you will exceed the memory size I wonder o. When most people can't even buy SD cards that matches the speeds of their Internal memory. |
