ParkiaZerm: Hello fam i have a redmi note 7 global rom thinking of selling it to get redmi note 8 global rom also my question is 1. Is it worth upgrading as i see the global rom note 8 is cheap 2. Will the latter get development of roms, kernel, gcam like the former Thanks
It will get dev support. But note the available LTE bands on the Chinese version of RN 8 but if you only use Airtel or 9mobile ignore.
Peppul: But not every one uses glo network or mtn. most pple prefer Airtel netwk. so why waste more money just to get additional bands wey u no dey use. like me i use airtel for my browing and calls. so even if i want to get the note8, will go for the china variant and port the global rom myself because it is cheap.
You say Most people and MTN still have the largest data subscribers?
The word some should be more appropriate.
No one is holding you from buying the CN Version as long as you know the pros and cons. It is your money afterall
Afikoo: When you say soon, do you mean like next week . Cos my hands are scratching me to hold this beauty. I just like the big screen of Redmi note 8 pro compare to that of MI 9T. And the absence of IR blaster in MI 9T is discouraging
They haven't put a time but they confirmed their would be a product launch in Nigeria soon.
As for me despite the absence of the IR Blaster, I will pick the Mi 9T over the RN 8 PRO
Afikoo: But i saw on Xiaomi website that it has band 3 and 28. I Know band 28 support GLO 4G LTE. And where can i get the global version cos it seems is the chinese version they are selling
This is for Global Version not Chinese version. There is no Band 7, Band 20 and Band 28 on the Chinese version and the Xiaomi site you entered was their Global site not Chinese otherwise the website will be in Chinese.
You can get the Global Version on AliExpress. But the RN 8 and RN 8 Pro would soon be launched in Nigeria. But the Mi 9T is readily available.
Also note Xiaomi devices with MTK don't get as much developer support compared to their Snapdragon versions at least till they proves us wrong.
data123: what of 9mobile i hope the phone support it. because i can only see MTN and GLO on this thread.
Airtel and 9mobile uses the same band 3 and most, if not all phones support it.
When we talk MTN and Glo this is why. For MTN Before Chinese Version of Xiaomi phones do come with band 7 which is one of MTN 4G bands but don't come with band 20 but the Global Version comes with both Now of recent Xiaomi are removing the band 7 from the Chinese versions.
For GLO: before Chinese versions don't come with Glo's band 28 even the Global Versions only few devices did. The only respite was Glo recent addition of band 3 even at that it is limited to some locations and slower than band 28.
But since their entry into Nigeria, band 28 comes with most of their Global Versions of new phones eg Mi 9T, Mi 9t pro, Mi A3, RN 8 & RN 8 Pro.
Afikoo: Good morning all I have been hearing about Xiaomi phones for sometimes now and i can say i am really wowed with the reviews i read on facebook and here. The popular redmi note 7 design is top notch. I like the Mi remote alot and GCAM
I have made up my mind to get a Xiaomi phone and I am torn between Redmi Note 8 Pro and MI 9T.
Please i need your honest opinion on these two.
Does the phones support Glo 4G LTE.
In my honest opinion I will pick the Mi 9T over the RN 8 Pro.
I have a bias for phones with Telephoto lens Does it have Mi Remote . Does it also support GCAM.
Which among these two can you honestly recommend for me.
I will be reading your opinions. God bless
Redmi Note 8 Pro no GCam(Thanks to MTK Processor), The Global Version has Glo 4G and it has Mi Remote.
Mi 9T. No IR blaster for Mi Remote, Has GCam Support and supports Glo 4G.
BoluwajiPieters: RN8 global version isn't coming with 18W fast charger like the Chinese version and then looks like the top bezel is thicker in Global version.
These people are just killing my vibe for this RN8...
There is nothing like thicker bezels on the global Version than the Chinese but the 10w charger stuff might be true and it is for some regions
jboixxx: Olayinkajr, Genius43 and Gptech. It means MIUI does support using micro SD card as adaptive storage as seen from the screenshot of okikiosibodu (RN7 device)¿ Abi Í am missing something?
MIUI doesn't and I stated it earlier when he first asked but didn't pay attention. Only some custom ROM does.
meobizy: That is Waje? Bisola outshines her. Kai. I thought it was two unknowns who escorted Bisola for the task.
Bisola became a One Ambassador in 2017 after double Wahala(She won this particular competition) and I think she got the endorsement before Waje so it is expected
sureteeboy: I watched a camera comparison test between the phone, Mi9 and Redmi K20 and there wasn't much difference. With that kind of Camera, I don't even think GCAM is necessary unless he's a camera freak though. And on the 4G bands, he can just go for the global version
Watch the comparison between GCam on the RN7 Pro and RN8 PRO stock camera and see GCam 48MP trashing the 64MP on the RN8 PRO thanks to Google algorithms in almost every test.
sureteeboy: You can get the phone Bro. Most of those bashing the phone don't use it. And on the support issue, One can't really know how long Xiaomi will release updates on the device, but I, as an individual don't really give a damn about that, as long as there isn't a major bug that needs to be corrected
He wasn't asking about this alone. He also asked if supports GCam which it doesn't.
Also about the LTE Bands on the Chinese version which is limited. There is no support for MTN 4G bands except the Global Version. So it is let for him to decide.
Amya: Babes when you say that, you want people to give up be that. You didn't even say 2nd place, but 3rd place. It's very discouraging for people that haven't made up their minds. They rather give their votes where they think it counts. Simple psychology.
When I see post such as yours here and twitter, I smh y'all are doing more harm than good. Can't you see how 3bear changed tactics and came with th 0.8 story, that's really how to rev up the spirit.
