For a petroleum Engineer who's currently working and has almost a year experience in the oil and gas industry, would u advice a masters degree or a professional course. This has been a very disturbing issue to a brother.
Go for Masters

Bro they would pick the person with ICAN.

I work in a multinational (one of the big four) and I can tell you that for you to employed in a management position you MUST be chartered, whether ICAN or ACCA. No matter how brilliant you are, without it you won't qualify for those positions.

I am not in any way belittling a masters degree though, just telling you the position in my workplace.
Not true dear. It depends on d departmnt in d organization. Its only in account or internal control departmnt dat being ICAN/ACCA chartered wl gv u edge over non ICAN/ACCA chartered staffers.
in Engineering, production, Quality assurance, etc, MSC/PhD wl gv u leading edge. No doubt.

NB: if u r in field of accounting/economics, go for ICAN first, MSc afterwards. By so doing, u bcome hot-cake: every coy/organisation wants pepl wt such hard skills to b d manager of dia accounting/internal control departmnt.

Professionally this is true.

That's if your in academia.

But for an employee, which one of them is better for ones advancement in a typical work place?
Wats ur undergraduate major n positon in ur coy?
Career / Re: Professional Exams Vs Masters Which Is Better? by GentleNaaz(m): 7:22am On Dec 25, 2015
It depends on ur undergraduate major n ur career pursuit.

If u r graduate of account, Economics, etc., go for ICAN first. u cn subsequently do MSc or MBA afterwards.

If u r graduate of Business administration, banking n finance, etc., go for MBA or MSc first (MBA wl b better). Professional certifications cn b acquired afterwards.

If u r science or Engineering graduate, go for MSc/M.Eng first, but gt HSE level 3 certificate as well. If u r Engineer, train n gt certificates in engineering softwares/application, eg AUTOCAD, etc.

if u want to b a lecturer, MSc first, PhD afterwards, no doubt. Become member of at least one professional body in ur field.

Family / Remember The Needy This Yuletide by GentleNaaz(m): 1:00pm On Dec 07, 2015
I have impellent motive to say these to the hearing of Christians:

1. As we prepare for Yuletide, we should imbibe the essence of this annual festivity. This period is mainly the celebration of nativity of Jesus, who bore vicarious atonement for our sins. In all our dining and wining, we should bear ds in mind.

2. Celebrate with less privileged and destitute folks within and beyond your hood. Jesus is delighted when we extend alms to the downtrodden.

3. As you buy new wears for yourself and kids, endeavor to buy for that poor boy/girl in the street.

Wishing u happy Yuletide, as u revel, carouse, and brisk in merrymaking.

fair14:
In the next 15 years you will not get your postgraduate result from futo. Please go to another school. In SMAT, those that did PDG since 2006 are yet to get their result let alone the MBA student since 2008 till date. If I have link to report that school to buhari I will do it. I finish my program without reference in any course, but up till date, the feedback is 'we are collating n compiling the results. I wish their own future will be delayed too. My friend concluded his MBA 2014 hoping to use the result for upgrade in his life, but futo has never called for project defence. Some lectures are yet to summit 2012 first semester result till now. Please ask people that did their postgraduate there before you enter.
U got it wrong somewhere. My lecturer did his Msc in FUTO, completed and collected his certificate within 2 years. From 2011 to 2013. No hitches. Presently, he is doing his PhD, while am doing my MSc. All in FUTO

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Got 2 Job Offers With Ridiculous Pay And Conditions Today by GentleNaaz(m): 8:07pm On Nov 13, 2015
AsherStorm:
Went for 2 interviews for marketing posts today and I did well in the test and interview but the pay and condition seems ridiculous.

Company A said my basic salary will be between 25k and 35k and also commission on whatever customers I bring in but the worst part is I have to sign a year BOND with them and should in case I wann leave before one year, my guarantors will pay whatever is left to be met on my target...

Company B said my basic salary will be between 20k and 25k and also commission on sales or deals I get for the company... This one has no clause of BOND.

Tfare to either one I choose is btw 200 and 300 daily and I will be living in a place where I'd have to be feeding myself.

Please advise me on whether to wait for better opportunities or take one of the two offers.

Thanks

NB: I'm a BSC holder
If I wr u, I wl decline both offers. These are packaged slavery
